There are a number of cool products retiring in June. The Butterflies and Flowers Layering Decorative Masks, on page 86 (of the January - June Mini) enable a quick way to blend different colors together to make your bouquet. You layer them sequentially, to add shading, so you don't have to cover portions of the artwork. I used a strip of Pattern Party DSP to layer behind the focal image.
Canada Inks Up! Team Blog Hop It's time again for another fun Blog Hop with our Team Canada Inks Up! Be sure to check out everyone and leave us comments! We love hearing from you! I decided to play around with the Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks and the Blending Brushes. They are so easy to use and lots of fun playing around with different colours! For this card I used a Pool Party Card Stock base, 4 1/4" x 11" scored at 5 1/2", a Basic White C/S panel, 4" x 5 1/4", the floral Decorative Mask, Blending Brushes, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay and Pear Pizzaz Inks. I started with the lighter colour, Coastal Cabana, and using a soft circular motion to lay down my colour. (I protected my card stock with Post-It Notes so I didn't get ink where I didn't want it and to keep my mask in place.) After I was happy with the Coastal Cabana, I gently added Bermuda Bay Ink to the centres of the flowers. Then I lined up the leaves portion of the masks and added some Pear Pizzaz Ink. I didn't use the corresponding mask layer for this card. I was really happy how it turned out! Then I stamped "Thank You" from the "Grassy Grove" Stamp Set in Memento Black Ink. I embossed this Basic White layer with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder then attached it to the card base. I splattered on some Wink Of Stella for some sparkle! For the butterfly card I started with a Pool Party C/S base, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4". I added a Bermuda Bay C/S layer, 4" x 5 1/4". The Basic White panel is cut to 3 3/4" x 5". This time I did use the bold and the detailed butterfly coordinating masks. For the body I gently brushed on Coastal Cabana Ink, then moved the mask to the detailed area and I added Bermuda Bay Ink. The masks are so easy to line up and the Blending Brushes add the ink in such a soft and smooth way. *Tip, after you have inked up the Blending Brush, remove some of the ink onto a piece of scrap paper, then using a soft and gentle circular motion on your project you will get great results. I stamped "Happy Birthday" from the Flowing Flowers Stamp Set using Memento Black Ink. Then I embossed this layer using the Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder. I added a Basic Black Bakers Twine bow and splattered on some Wink Of Stella to finish off the card. I hope I have inspired you today to try out these fun Layering Decorative Masks. This is a sympathy card that I made for a friend of mine who just lost her brother. I lost my brother recently too, so I wanted to send her a card and try this technique that I learned from Kylie Bertucci. Here are my instructions on how I made this card: Stamp Set: Peaceful Moments Cardstock: Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla Ink: Rich Razzleberry Other: Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks, Masking Tape or Packaging Tape, Blending Brush, Multipurpose Liquid Glue 1. The base of the card is Basic Black cardstock cut at 4-1/4” x 11” and scored at 5-1/2” in the middle. 2. The second layer is Rich Razzleberry cardstock cut at 4” x 5-1/4”. 3. The third layer is Very Vanilla cardstock cut at 3-3/4” x 5”. 4. Cover the butterfly mask with package tape exposing only the butterfly. Layer one of the other mask over the butterfly and tape it down so it doesn’t move. 5. Begin inking up the Blending Brush with Rich Razzleberry ink and blend design into the butterfly. 6. Add the sentiment of choice from the Peaceful Moments stamp set or the Special Moments SAB set with Rich Razzleberry ink. 7. Adhere with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. 8. Inside: Do one butterfly and add a sentiment of choice with Rich Razzleberry ink. tams# 67785 Product List Peaceful Moments Cling Stamp Set (English) [151595] $21.00 Special Moments Photopolymer Stamp Set (English) [158081] $0.00 Basic Black 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock [121045] $8.75 Rich Razzleberry 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock [115316] $8.75 Very Vanilla 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock [101650] $9.75 Rich Razzleberry Classic Stampin' Pad [147091] $7.50 Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks [158142] $10.00 Blending Brushes [153611] $12.00 Multipurpose Liquid Glue [110755] $4.00

The latest challenge at The Paper Players gave me the excuse to play around with the Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks. These unassuming items were part of my December order but I've not played around with them until now. And how I regret the lost time with them! They are an amazing set with endless possibilities! Anyway, I've used the bottom line: birthday, butterfly and stencil although I think I've accidentally played the centre column: sparkle, flower, butterfly as well! The masks are easy to use. I started with the butterfly outline, which I sponged in Flirty Flamingo. Then I layed over the butterfly details and sponged in Melon Mambo then Poppy Parade in the centre. Once that was done - and it was a quick process - she looked a bit lonely. So I made a mask from post-it notes for the butterfly then stencilled some flowers around her. Again, these were done in two parts: the base in Daffodil Delight and the overlay in Mango Melody. Then I added in some stencilled leaves in Granny Apple Green. The sentiment is from Artfully Layered and a trio of Basic Rhinestone Jewels finished it off. I can see that these Decorative Masks, now unpackaged, will see a lot of use! If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. Hi my friends, Todays card is very easy, using the Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks (#158142). I applied the Pale Papaya ink (#155670) with a Blending Brush (#153611) and using the flower mask with the less detail. Then using the other co-ordinating layer I applied the Pumpkin Pie ink (#147086). There is another mask with the leaves which I coloured with Soft Sea Foam ink (#147102). I then used the Stitched Greenery die (#155451) to achieve the stitching on the Basic White card front (#159228). The sentiment is from the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set (#158203) and stamped with Pumpkin Pie ink. I used the Messages Die (#154422) to cut this. The sentiment was attached to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430). The edges of the card front was daubered with Pumpkin Pie ink, then attached to the Basic White base card. As I said, a very easy card. “Love what you do and share what you love.” lesleyjendra.stampinup.net [email protected]
