a lace pullover with cables, bobbles and a keyhole back inspired by kelp forests of New Zealand It is also availble on yamagaraknits.com which accepts payment through PayPal and Stripe. This pattern has been tech edited and test knitted. “Rimurimu” means seaweed in the Maori language. The lace pattern of Rimurimu Tee is inspired by rimurimu of New Zealand, the giant kelp that are very much like trees in deep waters. Their towering long blades create dense canopies to clarify seawater, provide food and habitat for many marine animals. NOTES AND TECHNIQUES The front piece is worked first from the top with short row shaping at the shoulders and neck, and knitted flat in lace pattern to the bottom of the armhole. The back stitches are picked up along each shoulder, and with cast-on stitches, each side of the keyhole opening is worked. Both sides of the keyhole opening are joined to continue the back in lace pattern to the bottom of the armhole. The front and back are joined to continue the lace pattern in the round to the hem. Finishing in 1x1 twisted ribbing completes the hem and armholes. The neck and keyhole opening are finished in i-cord. After a button is sewn on, a crochet loop is added to the i-cord to fasten the opening. The lace pattern is charted. Clear photo tutorial explains how to work the bobbles. Lankadominanssi kuulostaa vaikealta, mutta se on oikeasti yksinkertainen asia. Se määrittää, kumpi väri näkyy kirjoneuleessa paremmin. Katso ohjeet videolta!
The name of my new sweater was inspired by NATHALIE the wonderful lady behind Woolissime, without whom this sweater wouldn't have been created. The sweater is made seamlessly from the top down with a simple pattern on the circular yoke while the rest is made in reverse stockinette (knitted on wrong side). The range of ease across all the sizes is 5 - 8.5 cm/2 - 3.5". The picture shows size 3 with 6.5 cm/2.5" of positive ease.

a hand-knitted smock for autumn
From the front this tank appears to have a simple A-line shape, but in fact the flared “skirt” wraps around the sides and then flows into elongated wings that cross over the back, joining the front at the opposite shoulder. A linen blend yarn ensures that the skirt drapes gracefully. This tank can be worn on its own or over another layer; try wearing it backwards if you are feeling adventurous! SKILL LEVEL Intermediate: Skills include picking up stitches, short rows, and three-needle bind-off. See Techniques section beginning on page 146 for photo tutorials on picking up stitches and working short rows. Shown in Size S with +1 “/2.5 cm ease. Intended to fit with -2”/5 cm to +2”/5 cm ease at bust. PATTERN NOTES • Center piece is worked first • Stitches are picked up along lower sides of center piece for side pieces • Center and sides are joined at the opposite shoulders, causing the side pieces to overlap • All edges are self-finished CUSTOMIZING FIT Because of the unusual construction, many of the standard garment measurements are approximate. Side pieces are constructed so that they can be lengthened if necessary to adjust the fit.
No nautically inspired collection could be complete without a garment in Fisherman’s Rib. This form of brioche stitch is simple to work and creates a spongy, warm fabric. Here it’s cleverly enlivened with a delicate lace motif for a subtle feminine quality that can dress up or dress down. Docklight is knit in the round to the underarms and then completed working flat with set-in sleeves for a tailored fit. Tubular cast-ons keep the hems and cuffs professional; if you want to substitute a different method, be sure to choose one that’s stretchy enough to match the fabric. The neckband is picked up after the pieces are seamed, worked to double length, then folded and stitched down inside. Designer: Julie Hoover Collection: Fall 2014
