Coastal Cabana with Seaside Notions and Prized Peony Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 11th Colour Creations Showcase by the Art with Heart Team. So glad you have dropped in. This week we are focusing on a gorgeous colour, Coastal Cabana. This colour is a bright green aqua colour that sits within Stampin' Up!s "Brights" collection of 10 colours. Coastal Cabana is found across Stampin' Up!s product range, including: Card-stock, Classic Stampin' Ink Pad and Ink Refill; Watercolour Pencils Assortment 2; Stampin' Write Markers; a number of the Designer Series Papers (Playing with Patterns); Playing with Patterns Combo Pack Ribbons; Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Playing with Patterns Resin Dots Embellishments. This week hasn't been my best week as health and other demands have taken their toll. I noticed the impact as I was crafting ... with dropping things, ink smudges, gluing things the wrong way round or undertaking processes out of order which led to further errors. Has this ever happened to you??? Even though I needed to undertake a number of processes multiple times, I still tried to relax into these projects and enjoy crafting. It is so good to be 'mindful', put aside other things for a while and to create. First Project: Given the name of this week's colour, I wanted to create a card with a sea theme. Apart from hero-ing Coastal Cabana, I also wanted to use the lovely Seabed 3D Embossing Folder. I started with a piece of Whisper White card-stock and laid a variegated layer of Coastal Cabana blending to light Pool Party at the top using a Sponge Roller. Sea weed or sea greenery (can't remember what they are called) was stamped in Coastal Cabana Classic Stampin' ink. I created a mask for the sea weed so the images didn't cross over each other. The sentiment from the Seaside Notions stamp set was stamped in Night of Navy Classic Stampin' ink. Some water droplets as well as some Frost White Shimmer Paint were flicked over the inked card front. Once dry, this card front was trimmed to sit with a narrow mount on a piece of Night of Navy card-stock and was cut into 4 pieces. Then, it was embossed in the Seabed 3D embossing folder - such a gorgeous effect. The embossed card front pieces were adhered to the Night of Navy card-stock with Dimensionals (do make sure you place the pieces in the right order 😞 - you can probably guess why I am saying that). A piece of Coastal Cabana Playing with Patterns ribbon was tied around the card front in a bow. The card front was adhered directly to a Coastal Cabana card-stock card base. The seahorses from the Seaside Notions stamp set were stamped in Versamark ink on Shimmery White card-stock and heat embossed with Silver Stampin' Emboss powder. After being water coloured with Night of Navy and Pool Party Classic Stampin' inks using a Blender Pen, the sea horses were fussy cut and a layer of Shimmery Crystal Effects covered the sea horses. Once the Crystal Effects dried, they were adhered in place with Mini Dimensionals. A few Blue Adhesive Backed Gems were added as a finishing touch. The Whisper White card-stock inner and Whisper White C6 Medium envelope were both stamped with the sea house in Coastal Cabana Classic Stampin' ink. Second Project: With the second card design, I thought I would stretch myself out of my comfort zone and work with a different colour combination that had been posted on Pinterest using Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape and Sahara Sand. I usually am more comfortable with soft or muted colours and if I use bright colours it would be as a highlight or small touch. I started by stamping 3 peonies from the Prized Peony stamp set in Versamark ink and heat embossed them with White Stampin' Emboss powder. The flowers were coloured with Coastal Cabana and Gorgeous Grape Water-colour pencils and softened with a Blender Pen. Not wanting a wider white boarder around the flowers, they were fussy cut, trimming near to the white embossed edge. A Whisper White card front was adhered directly to the Coastal Cabana card-stock card base. The centre panel was cut from a piece of Coastal Cabana coloured Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Playing with Patterns DSP. A piece of Vellum card-stock was cut a tiny bit smaller to allow a border of the DSP to show. Both pieces were edged on the lower edge with the scalloped die from the Peony dies. The vellum was embossed with one of the Meadows Moments embossing folders. The vellum was adhered directly to the DSP and then the panel was adhered in place with Dimensionals. To bring in the Sahara Sand colour and tie to the Gorgeous Grape flower, leaves from the Prized Peony stamp set were stamped in Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' ink onto a piece of Purple Posy striped DSP from the Playing with Patterns DSP. They were fussy cut. The flowers and leaves were arranged with soft bows in White ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo pack and Linen Thread. A "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set was stamped in Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' ink on to a label punched with the Everyday Label punch, which was positioned with Dimensionals. I added a few pieces of Vellum leaves that were nearby (which had been cut for a previous project from the Forever Flourishing dies). Three clear Elegant Faceted Gems provided the finishing touch. The Whisper White card inner and the Whisper White C6 Medium envelope were both stamped with the peony in second generation Coastal Cabana Classic Stampin' ink. I hope you are enjoying this week's Colour Creations Showcase, which is focussing on Stampin' Up!s Coastal Cabana. Catherine Proctor is our amazing host of the Art with Heart Colour Creations Showcase. If you haven't finished visiting all of the team's colour creations, you can visit/revisit Catherine's page at What Cathy Made, where she hosts all the links to the other Showcase participants. I'm certainly looking forward to checking out everyone's Coastal Cabana creations. I hope to see you again next week when members of the team will share projects that hero a neutral colour, Crumb Cake. Also, please join us next Monday when the Heart with Art Team will be sharing Christmas themed projects. There will be so much inspiration to encourage everyone to start creating Christmas cards early. Christmas will be here before we know it. Do look after yourself and your loved ones. Stay well, stay safe and be kind to yourself and others. Andrea 😘 (The list of products used in creating the cards will be added over the next couple of days.)
This afternoon I'm sharing with you the last of my run of Seaside Notions cards. I had so much fun creating all these cards, with the gorgeous colours and patterns in the Whale of A Time Designer Series Paper pack. These colours go so well together, don't they? I am particularly proud of the ribbon treatment on this card! I planned to custom-colour (with Stampin' Blends markers) some White Crinkled Seam Binding, but couldn't decide whether I wanted Balmy Blue or Granny Apple Green. So, I cut two equal lengths, coloured one in each Light Stampin' Blends colour, and tied them together. Pretty, don't you think?! Listed below are all the Stampin' Up! products I used to make this card. They are all available to purchase from my online store, which you can access by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below. I would love for you to shop with me, if you live in Australia. This week at Retro Rubber we have a theme challenge for you. Create a summer themed card, using at least one stamp that's a year or more old. Don't forget to tell us how old your retro stamp is. Since today is a cold and miserable winter's day, the prospect of writing up a summery card is quite appealing! For me, summer means long days at the beach. Beaches lead me to sea life and finally to Seaside Notions. This is one of my favourite sets from the 2019 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, so this stamp set is just a year old and I'm delighted that it is carrying over into the 2020-21 Catalogue. For this card, I masked off a strip of the card front and ink-blended Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana before spritzing it with water to lift some of the colour. Then I stamped the bubble stamp in Bermuda Bay over the top. Finally, I flicked a little clear Wink of Stella over the whole card front to create a watery background for the seahorses. I used Stamparatus to mirror stamp the seahorse so that I had one facing each way. They were silver embossed and coloured with Stampin' Blends. We'd love to see what you do with this challenge. You can see what the rest of the team have done and link up your entry at the Retro Rubber Challenge site. If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. Coastal Cabana with Seaside Notions and Prized Peony Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 11th Colour Creations Showca...
I just love these seahorses from Seaside Notions set! That are not bad to hand snip. I thought of them when I saw this in color challenge and thought they would look great in these colors. I decided to stamp them in black and then water color them with the ink and the aqua painter on shimmer white card stock. I added a rhinestone to each eye because they need some bling! I ran my piece of Seaside Spray card stock through with the new High Seas emboss folder. I layered it on a Pretty Peacock base and then stamped the sentiment from the Well Said set in Peacock ink on a with strip of card stock. I love how it turned out and hope you can play along with the in color challenge over at fabfridaystampinchallenge.blogspot.com Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day! Windy Stamp sets: well Said, Seaside Notions Ink: Rococo Rose, Pretty Peacock, Purple Posy, Terracotta Tile, Memento Tuxedo Black Paper: Seaside Spray, White white, shimmer white, Pretty Peacock High Seas emboss folder, aqua painter, rhinestones
Today's card is inspired by Try Stampin' on Tuesday's sketch challenge #434. I decided to play with my "new to me" set that I got in my last Stampin' Up! order. If I don't use the circle on my card for a moon I usually will put some sort of flower on my card, but this time I decided to try something a little different. Why not a seahorse??? Make sure you check out what the other designers created using this week's sketch HERE. If you get a chance to play along we'd love to see what you create! Today's card evolved from a panel of Whisper White card on which I had blended three of Stampin' Up!'s blue ink colours. I've recently bought some blending brushes, and am in the experimental stage; I'm quite happy with my first attempt! I sponged the bottom third of the panel with Seaside Spray, the middle third with Blueberry Bushel (it's about to retire, so I thought I should use that colour), and the top third with Night of Navy. After applying the inks, I subtly flicked some water from my aquapainter ... but was a little too light-handed, as that barely shows! I then stamped images from Seaside Notions onto the inked panel, using the same blues as the background. Finally, I embossed the piece with the High Seas 3D embossing folder. I really like the seaweed cut from three different papers, and I think the rope die-cut (from Smooth Sailing dies) is a great finishing touch. I added a Linen Thread knot on top. Here's a closer view of the background, so you can see a little of the High Seas embossing folder waves effect: Listed below are all the Stampin' Up! products I used to make this card. They are available to purchase from my online store, which can be reached by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below. Hello hello & welcome! I'm excited to share my project for our first Just Add Ink challenge of 2020. Even more exciting, it's Just Add Ink's 10th anniversary and we're having a celebration themed blog hop to... celebrate! You may have arrived here from the lovely Rachael Lewsley's blog or some other way. Welcome! It's amazing to think Just Add Ink has been sharing creative inspiration for a decade - 488 challenges so far! Thanks so much to JAI founders, all past and present team members and challenge participants for sharing with us all. It's also my 5th anniversary as part of the JAI Design Team so that's a reason for me to celebrate too. Time flies! I hope you'll hop along with us and play along with the challenge to use the theme and image to make your own celebration project. You could even win a prize. See the Just Add Ink blog post along the hop for all the info you need. Here's my celebration hop project. I made a birthday card for a friend and SU teamie - birthdays are definitely a big cause for celebration in my book. I used some new to me stamps - Seaside Notions, Birch and Peaceful Moments, and used the colours and layout of the challenge image as my inspiration. I stamped all the images in basic gray on thick whisper white card, then coloured the sea elements with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. Colours are listed below. I mixed colours and shades to give lots more colour blending options. Change a sentiment - The stamp sentiment (from Peaceful Moments) says 'wishing you every happiness this special day will bring'. I wanted to remove the last section to better fit my card. To do this, I masked off the bottom line with some washi, inked up the sentiment then removed the washi before stamping it. Bonus - it perfectly fitted one of the Stitched Rectangle dies. Details Can you see the subtle water-like detail on the centre stitched rectangle panel? (Click on the pics for a bigger view). I stamped the Birch background stamp with pool party ink then used sponge brayer to add a graduated colour layer - also with pool party. It's popped up with dimensionals and there's also a layer of soft sea foam and pool party card behind it. I've also embossed the front and centre front panels with mt fave Subtle 3d embossing folder. The old style Subtle dynamic folder - which has exactly the same pattern - is currently on the Clearance Rack (Aus) for just $10.20 so if you don't have it, get it now before stocks run out. I've listed both models below. Inside I've used the Birch stamp again - this time in sponged on Sahara Sand ink - with random lines of pool party Stampin' Blends on top. The sentiment is from Peaceful Moments & the little sea shell is also from Seaside Notions. To finish it off, some of my fave sequins from the Woven Threads sequin pack - to give the look of little air bubbles and of course clear Wink of Stella (which I added after pics). Well that's it from me for the hop. Thanks for visiting and hopping along with us all. I hope you enjoyed seeing my card & got some ideas to try. All the supplies I've used are listed below. Remember to pin my project on Pinterest before you hop on too. Next up on our Just Add Ink Celebration blog hop is the fabulous Narelle Farrugia with a card you're sure to love. This next card, featuring Seaside Notions and Whale of A Time DSP, uses the following colours: How pretty is the wavy-patterned paper, in Balmy Blue and Pacific Point? The seahorse is stamped in Pacific Point ink on Whisper White card, and coloured with Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends markers. I have used a Holiday Rhinestone for the seahorse's eye. The Balmy Blue strip, across the bottom of the front panel, has been embossed with the new Seabed embossing folder. I stamped bubbles using a stamp from the Beauty Abounds set. Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team is showcasing “My Happiest Season.” We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! …
Seaside Notions is a fun stamp set that I used to create my projects for my Facebook Live presentation that I held last night on my Facebook Group Page, Stampin' Gala Stamper's Group. I created two greeting cards and one treat holder. All three projects are stamped with VersaMark on Shimmery White Card Stock. (I chose Shimmery White Card Stock because it is perfect for watercoloring.) Gold Embossing Powder was sprinkled on the stamped images and heat set with a Heat Tool. I then watercolored the images with an Aqua Painter and Pool Party Ink. I always like to include
I really enjoy seeing Stampin' Up! cards on Pinterest! There are so many variations for each stamp set that Stampin' Up! showcases. Stampers everywhere are so very talented. It’s Cuppa & Card today in Borrowash and this is one of the projects we’ll be making. It’s a very simple Seaside Notions project with some extra simple colouring. I love the colour combo of Pretty Peacock, Terracotta Tile, Pool Party and So Saffron – what do you think? You can add depth to your colouring simply by doing what we always strive NOT to do: go over the edges! I’ve coloured these shells with blender pens combined with Terracotta Tile and Pool Party ink pads, deliberately adding a shadow all around the edge of each image in the same colour. I think it really adds depth to the images.

Dreaming about walking on the beach... So this happened: I was thinking about "white on white", and started playing with the Seaside Notions stamp set. After stamping the seahorse, sand dollar and conch shell in black and white, I branched out slightly with a Pool Party coral and a few Blushing Bride shells. Each were fussy-cut, and then I brought in my original idea of "white on white". Two layers of white cardstock, one embossed with the Tasteful Textile embossing folder and the smaller one cut with Stitched So Sweetly dies and embossed with one of the Wrapped in Texture embossing folders set up the scene. Each element was adhered in place, and then I cut a Stitched Shape circle for the greeting. The Elegant Faceted Gems added just the right amount of sparkle and bling! Ahhh...I can almost feel the sand between my toes... Will you be placing an order today? Today would have been my dear old Dad's 82nd birthday (we lost him last year). He was always a fan of my cards, so I know he would have appreciated this one! Dad was a lover of all things of the sea, and seahorses hold a special significance for me. Here's a closer look at the lower part of the front panels, to show the lovely colours, patterns and touch of texture: Because the card base is Pretty Peacock, I added a simply decorated panel of Whisper White to the inside: Listed below are all the products I used to make this card. Today I am sharing the BONUS card my In-Color club members are receiving their first month of club. Each club member gets the card and the printable pdf tutorial to re-create it on their own along with their club goodies.
I love the card I did a few weeks ago for a color challenge. Many sweet comments left on my blog said they loved the porthole look so I decided I had to continue for the third card for my card class next week! I also love the seaside emboss folder but you must remember to stamp the words first and then run the emboss folder! I also love the colors I used which were picked up from the Seaside Shore suite in the new SU! catalog. I hope you enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by! Hey there and welcome! Colour INKspirations Challenge #86 is happening and today I'm sharing my entry. Our colours for this are Coastal Cabana, Shaded Spruce and Pacific Point and as these colours remind me of the sea, I took this as my inspiration. My card features the Seaside Notion stamp set which is relatively new amongst my stamp collection. I've used a couple of colouring techniques for my card and utilized Shimmery White card stock to add a little extra shimmer to my colouring. Firstly, I created a background combining all three colours by sponging ink onto a strip of Shimmery White card stock, starting with the lightest colour, begin lightly and blending each colour carefully. You can either use the sponge daubers or sponges for this. When I do this technique, I like to start with a piece larger than I need then trim it down as the edges are inevitably, always darker. To finish this piece, I stamped the splatter stamp vertically rather than horizontally in Coastal Cabana for added texture. For the second technique, I used the Stampin' Blender Pens. Firstly I stamped the seahorse image in Shaded Spruce then taking the Blender Pen, I used it to 'pull' the colour over the image to add dimension. I love how it turned out! Once finished, I went ahead and fussy cut the image and set aside. Now that the colouring was finished, I went and embossed a piece of Shimmery White card stock with the Old World 3D embossing folder and used raised side as I thought this looked a lot like water. I cut two seaweeds from the Smooth Sailing Dies in Vellum to give a subtle background interest. For something a little bit special, I decided to add in a Gold Hoop embellishment. I was a little bit naughty and stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede on a scrap Shimmery White card stock . Even though it wasn't one of the challenge colours but I thought it matched the gold hoop well. I did think about adding some bling or sequins, but decided not to because I personally like to keep things a little subdued for this genre of cards. I would definitely add them if I was making this card for a birthday. To assemble my card, I started with a base of Coastal Cabana cast stock, glued on my embossed layer of Shimmery White card stock, using lots of tombow because of the extra texture. I arranged all my pieces, using glue dots to adhere the vellum seaweed die cuts and gold hoop, added a strip of Coastal Cabana to the sentiment and used dimensionals to stick this to my card. The seahorse image was stuck down with dimensionals on the upper body and added Tombow liquid glue where it touches the sentiment, keeping it all on one level. What a more perfect stamp set! When the new 'Seaside View' set came out.... I knew that I had to get it for my Dad. He just finished making Adirondack chairs for him and his wife (along with one for my littlest niece too)! My Dad is always making projects and working hard. Therefore, the quote from the set is also very apt "Hope You Have a Relaxing Day!". See, perfect! I did pair this set with the sentiment from 'Best Year' which is also a new stamp set from the 2020-20121 catalog from Stampin' Up! I colored in the images using Stampin' Blends markers. Thanks for dropping by! AND.... Happy Father's Day to all the Father's and Father-figures out there! Supplies Used: Stamp Sets - Seaside View, Best Year Ink - Early Espresso, Stampin' Blends (Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Seaside Spray) Paper - Seaside Spray, Whisper White, Early Espresso Accessories - scissors
This card has taken inspiration from two challenges. I was taken by the soft colours at Just Add Ink and piqued by the large sentiment challenge at The Paper Players. The ideas percolated for a while and this is how it ended up. I enjoyed making the card front. It's a mixture of sponging, spritzing, texture over-stamping with some touches of white pigment stamping as well. I like the soft, natural feel that's been created. Although the background is quite busy, it doesn't seem so because of the softness of the colours. They recede from the strong black of the bold sentiment. The white circle around the sentiment helps draw the eye to it. If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours.
