Hi and welcome! Today's post features the newest sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches team where our hostess this week is the talented Kim Singdahlsen. I've mentioned before that angled panels on cards make my eye twitch, so you can imagine how I felt when I saw three of them! I actually spent several days pondering how I was going to pull this off and in the end I decided to mimic the lines of the angles with a die. So I used this circle die to cut three lines in a white panel and once that was done, I adhered it to a Gravel Gray card base. I then die-cut the Caprice Heart dies from Grout Gray, Cement Gray and Gravel Gray cardstocks and layered them up. The sentiment was cut down from a longer one and stamped in black ink on the same angle as the circles. I positioned the heart so the centre opening was right over one of the circle cutouts. And that's my card! Simple and angled 😄 Thanks for visiting! The DT have some gorgeous cards - in fact when I added my card to the DT blog, I saw that Lee Ann and I had very similar ideas! Well, you know what they say - great minds think alike 😀 Products used: Stamps: More Essential Sentiments (MFT) Ink: Versafine Onyx Black Cardstock: White, Grout Gray, Gravel Gray, Cement Gray (MFT) Dies: Caprice Hearts (Birch Press Designs), Blueprints 21 (MFT) Cheers Karren
Thanks, Julee T, for another fabulous Mojo Monday sketch (MOJO116). I needed a birthday card for my niece's husband. I thought these colors (Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie) were simply splashy for a festive, masculine card. Click here to see more of my masculine card samples.STAMPIN'

Paper Play Sketches, challenge blog, link up every other Wednesday,
It has been brought to my attention that I often design cards with a bold angle. Sometimes it stems from a sketch that inspires me, but sometimes it adds an interesting twist to the straight up-and-down designs I most frequently create. Either way, a diagonal slant often finds its way

Hi friends! It's time for a new Mojo Monday sketch! As always, you're free to play along with any papercrafting products your heart desires and enter as many creations as you like. Use the sketch as inspiration for your creation, then come link it up below so I can come take a look! The linky for this challenge will close on July 26, 2020. I have included dimensions on the graphic later in this post, but feel free to change them up to suit your needs. I had to take a peek back to see if this sketch had been used before, and was surprised not to see it. The two crossed panels is kind of my go-to start to a card, especially with patterned paper. I typically use a circle as the focal point, but decided to switch to a square for a change. The stamps are from the new Summer Fruits set from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I had a lot of fun coloring them with Copics, then playing around with some new to me papers from Echo Park It's actually a patriotic pad, but totally made me think of picnics and cherry picking, The sentiment is masked off to use just par and I added the missing you from the Rose Banner set above. Alrighty, now it's your turn! I hope you enjoy creating with this sketch! Thanks so much for stopping by! Please join me for Mojo Monday! Use the sketch as inspiration for your creation, then come link it up below so I can come take a look! The linky for this challenge will close on June 28 2020. I have included dimensions on the graphic later in this post, but feel free to change them up to suit your needs. My card started with these beautiful papers from the By the Sea collection. I picked a few papers and cut into various scraps and laid them out until I was happy with the layout. I then cut out a white circle for my focal panel and stamped with sentiments from the Thoughtful Words set. Below that I used one of the stamps from the Texture Tiles 3 set for the water, stamped in navy and then lightly blended with the same color of ink. The rope image is from the Peace Be Still set and I colored with copics and hand trimmed, adding some crystal clear lacquer pen accents to add a little dimension to it. The anchor is a wood veneer piece from my stash, I lightly brushed a ground espresso oxide pad over it then embossed with clear embossing powder for a little more texture. Everything is glued together on an A2 size card base. Alrighty, now it's your turn! I hope you enjoy creating with this sketch! Thanks so much for stopping by! Please join me for Mojo Monday! The stack, cut, & shuffle technique is a great way to make multiple cards at the same time (without getting bored) and has so many variations.
YAY! I found time to make a card in between work and some deep cleaning to nether regions of my house. I’m tickled with how this turned out. I chose Mojo Monday 422 and my take turned out like so: I stamped the happy birthday sentiment using Stampin’ Up products and then stamped and paper pieced for the cupcake using a Forever in Time stamp. The background 6 x 6 from American Crafts. I added a red gem with a snippet of black crochet cotton behind for a stem and bumped it up with foam tape. I punched the circle and used a simple darning needle for the “stitch” around the outside (stitch dies on my Christmas wish list) So glad you came by – visit me and I will make every effort to come see you too! Welcome to the tall & skinny week at the Mojo Monday Blog! Julee has created the fabulous sketch, it is perfect for tall & skinny, I luv all the options it gives, we can't wait to see what you create! Feel free to adapt the sketch to whatever length/width fits your fancy, though. Below are a couple options for those of you who don't like to do math on a Monday morning! The first size is 3.5 x 5.5" and fits a regular A2 envelope with a little room left over to let something (like the circle in this sketch) hang off the 3.5" side. You can use either of the following measurements, depending on where you want your fold. 3.5 x 11" cut of cardstock, score long side at 5.5" 5.5 x 7" cut of cardstock, score long side at 3.5" For a little more skinny, you can try a 3.5 x 6" card to fit a regular No. 6 3/4 envelope (the ones that are about the size of a personal check). Use either of the following measurements, depending on where you want your fold. 3.5 x 12" cut of cardstock, score long side at 6" 6 x 7" cut of cardstock, score long side at 3.5" To play along, make a project using the provided sketch and upload it to your blog or online gallery. If you upload to online galleries, please also use tag/keyword MOJO386. There is no time limit - you can always play any week at any time, but I will close the linking form on Sunday night, March 1 at 8:00pm (Mountain). That way there's no confusion which linky is the current one. Verve stamps are NOT required to participate, and you can enter as many times as you want. As always, if you don't have a particular shape, feel free to substitute. For inspiration using this week's sketch, please visit our design team's blogs, which are the first 6 thumbnails on this week's linky list:
Today is a start of a new month of Viva La Verve sketches and Julee is kickin' it with a pastel trio and sketch challenge. If you're new to Viva La Verve or just getting back into the sketches you'll notice it's changed a wee bit. The challenge has moved to it's own blog! Twice a month there is a twist added to the challenge like this week is color. Get all the details about the challenge and prized on the Viva La Verve Challenge blog! Here's my card sample for the sketch. I started with a paper pad from Authentique called Delightful and found the sweet blue and green from the challenge. Then I used the graph stamp from Making a Statement around the middle of my background paper (notice the pink?) inking in Crumb Cake ink. I wanted some subtle direction on the right side of the card so I used the chevron stamp from Borderline in Crumb Cake to make that happen. I added my mixed media touch with white gesso around the outside and then... I added pink (Painterly Pink to be exact) because the mood was swinging with pastels. The focal cluster is made up of Flag It Die Set pennants stamped with the chevron stamp, the Banner Bundle Die (largest one) and a DIY circle ring of three (I used two circle dies faced cutting edge down to center then taped them together.) Gesso and pink paint smudged around the borders and then a perfect (fork technique) bow from Moss Green ribbon. Oh, and I used the paper piercing kit and piercing tool around the circle and bottom layer. I hope you are having a great week... regardless of the weather or schedule you might have, I will wish you find something to enjoy, to relax about or laugh over. See you next week! Details: Stamps: Making a Statement and Borderline (Verve Stamps) Paper: Delightful (Authentique), Kraft (Neenah) Ink: Crumb Cake (Stampin' Up) Accessories: Flag It Die Set and Banner Bundle Die Set (A Cut Above, Verve), paper piercer kit and piercer tool (Stampin' Up), Moss Green ribbon (Summer Sailing Ribbon Collection, Verve), acrylic paint (Painterly Pink, Claudine Hellmuth), white gesso
