Purple Posy with Simply Succulents Hi. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the 39th 2020/2021 Colour Creations Showcase by members of the Art with Heart Team. The week we are showcasing a very soft purple, Purple Posy. Purple Posy is part of Stampin' Up! In Colour's collection for 2019-2021. As such, this colour will be retiring soon and once the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue becomes live it will not be available. It is a pretty purple, so if you love it, I recommend not waiting to replenish your supplies because once the retiring list is available In Colours usually sell out quickly. Purple Posy is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Stampin' Blends, a number of Designer Series Papers, including Playing with Patterns & Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Papers; the Gorgeous Posies Card Kit, Playing with Patterns Resin dots and Playing with Patterns Ribbon, etc. Similar to last week, I have only been able to complete one project in time for the Colour Creations Showcase going live. My second card is still "under construction" and not ready for public consumption. I had numerous interruptions throughout the day so last night's plan of finishing the card quickly this morning, hasn't come to pass. It is almost ready. I need to re-cut and colour some flowers, confirm the arrangement (hmm, that could take me ions as I am NO flower arranger) and then put it together. Hopefully I will be able to add the second card to this blog early in the weekend. Succulents can be so beautiful with their purple tips and they come in a range of colours. (See some examples below.) I decided to colour the Simply Succulent stamp set with Stampin' Blends including the Purple Posy Combo. I also used Light and Dark Gorgeous Grape, Seaside Spray, So Saffron, Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron, Pool Party, a little Balmy Blue and the Colour Lifter. The succulents were stamped in Basic Grey Classic Stampin' ink on Basic White card-stock. The succulents were fussy cut. While I could have used the coordinating dies, I decided that I didn't want the white boarder around the single succulents so I fussy cut them all for consistency. To create the card front, the large die from the coordinating Potted Succulents dies was used to cut a background from Basic White card-stock for the filagree layer. This was adhered directly to a piece of Basic White card-stock. I love the subtlety of white on white. A scolloped rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly dies cut a rectangular hole through both layers near the centre. This card front was positioned over the Purple Posy card-stock base and the hole was penciled in so a hole could be cut in the base card in an aligned position. To frame the hole, the same scalloped die and the next largest die were used to cut 3 frames from Purple Posy card-stock. The 3 frames were adhered together to gain some depth and then adhered to frame the rectangular hole. A sentiment from the Simply Succulent stamp set was stamped in Gorgeous Grape Classic Stampin' ink on Basic White card-stock and with Versamark ink on Highland Heather card-stock and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss powder. The top line of the sentiment was die cut with a label from the coordinating Potted Succulents dies, while the scripty word was fussy cut. A slightly smaller Basic White card base was adhered to the inner back of the Purple Posy card base, leaving a small boarder of the purple. The white card opens from the centre out (see a photo below of the opened card and the card inner. A second card front size background die from the Potted Succulents dies was cut in Basic White card-stock and adhered directly to the top of the closed white section of the card-base. The pot from the same stamp set was also stamped in Basic Grey Classic Stampin' ink on a scrap of Basic White card-stock and coloured with the lIght Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Blend together with the light and dark Gorgeous Grape Blends and the light Purple Posy Blend. The Colour Lifter Blend was used to soften the edges of the highlighted area. For consistency, this was fussy cut rather than using the coordinating dies. An edge was cut from one of the Purple Posy rectangles remaining from cutting the frames for the front. This was adhered under a strip of In Good Taste DSP which had been flagged at each end. White twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo was wrapped around the banner twice and tied in a bow. This banner was adhered directly to the inner white card over the Potted Succulent die cut. The pot and the succulent arrangement were added with Dimensionals. Two of the smaller succulents were added - one on a Dimensional. The positioning of the 2 small succulents needed to appear through the frame when the card was closed and well as look pleasing with the card front open. Glistening opal rounds were added to both the card front and the inner design. Here is a picture of the fully opened card. A sentiment from the stamp set was stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink and one of the single succulents stamped in stamped off Highland Heather Classic Stampin' ink. A C6 Basic White envelope was similarly stamped a few times with a single succulent and stamped off Highland Heather ink. Thank you so much for spending time with me. It is Sunday here in blog land. I will be going over my sister's shortly to say good bye to my brother. He was here for Thanksgiving and to attend a wedding. I was able to have lunch with him on Saturday and it was nice to talk to him. I am sad he lives so far away. I also did a little shopping at Michael's yesterday. What great sales they had!! I was only in there for a about ten minutes and wish I had a bit more time to browse but Chris was waiting for me in the car. He is pretty good about letting me look around but we were on a time deadline and had to be home so I could be on time for lunch. I did get adhesive which was 40% off. That almost NEVER goes on sale so I bought quite a bit. They also had a coupon to get 25% sale AND clearance items. I bought a few Heidi Swapp stencils that were on clearance, as well as some ribbon. Today I am sharing two cards that I created with Stampin Up!'s "Holiday Home" stamp set. I borrowed this set from my friend this weekend and think I am going to have to borrow it again another day. I LOVE it. The first card I created for my friend who just moved into her new house on Friday. This card was a total CASE of a card I saw somewhere on the web. I know I pinned it but I have pinned so many darn cards that I couldn't find it to link up. Anyway, I stamped three houses in gray on a white card base and a street light image in black. I then die cut the white panel and mounted it on a red hot card stock base. Next I stamped a fourth house in black, colored it in with Copic markers and then die cut it out. I colored it in yellow because my friend's new house is yellow. Hmm...I just noticed that this house should have been on the opposite card! I meant to put a different house on this one! Ugh!!! I mounted the yellow house onto the card with foam adhesive and used Ranger Glossy Accents on the windows to make them reflect. The last step was to stamp the sentiment in black, the heart in red and then to cover the heart in red Stickles. I really love how this came out. You can see how the glossy accents shines in the photo above. The second card I created in the same way but flipped the card so that it was 5 1/2" by 4 1/4". On this card, I stamped four houses in gray and then die cut a fifth that I had stamped in black on another sheet of white card stock. Instead of yellow, I chose to color this house in with red. I am obsessed with red!! This house was also adhered to the card using foam adhesive. Like the first house, the windows on this one got a treatment of Glossy Accents. I think that I am going to try to stamp these houses with white on Kraft card stock next and use colored pencils to color one of them in. I really love how this came out!! That is all for today. This card is late for this challenge, well not too late but I had it ready a couple of days ago but I have been distracted with new goodies I've been sent for my stint as a Display Stamper for April's OnStage event in Sydney. So all of a sudden it's Wednesday and I haven't entered my card! Anyhoo, this card is for this week's Just Add Ink Challenge #346 - Choose Two! I had a bit of a blunder with this card, it's not how it was actually meant to come out but I put the adhesive on the wrong side on the DSP (it was meant to be pink flowers) and I was going to put a glittery butterfly on it! Lucky for me there was matching hearts on the other side (although Crumb Cake and not Tip Top Taupe) but it saved my card as that was my last piece of pink flowers/brown hearts lol. This card was pretty simple to put together. I cut a mask from the Stylish Stem framelits and used sponge daubers to colour the flowers with Pink Pirouette on the outside, then Blushing Bride and lastly Melon Mambo in the centre. I overlayed it with another mask, attached the ribbon and stamped and embossed the sentiment. All done, really easy! I was careful to wait for adjacent sections to dry before adding a new color. I used all the same colors, and the small filler images on the inside. This card combines sentiments from three sets: Christmas Quilt, the SAB Happy Wishes, and Heartfelt Sympathy inside. More rainbow action going on here! I bet you didn't think of this set as a sympathy set, did you? There is the inside. Subtle and simple is best, I find, for a sympathy card. Welcome back this month we are sharing the Polished Stone Technique, you may have just popped by from Zoe's amazing project! This is my project this month: I wanted the polished stone technique to feature and have chosen to add stamped images using the Lovely Lattice Sale-a-Bration stamp set. This is an avid stamper project although it is really quite simple. It's a square card - the base card is Powder Pink mounted with Whisper White squares on the front and inside. The technique is done on a square of Glossy White card stock and the stamped images are on a separate piece of Whisper White (fussy cut and layered). The polished stone technique was done using Bermuda Bay and Pool Party re inkers, Isocol Rubbing Alcohol and cotton pads. I was patient and allowed the inks to dry before employing the gloss card in the project. The floral image was stamped on Whisper White using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I coloured the images using - Light Bermuda Bay, Light and Dark Petal Pink, Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler and Light and Dark Old Olive Stampin' Blends. I stamped out the large flower three times and fussy cut two of the images after colouring them. I stretched out the flowers using the bone folder, curling the petals upwards and into the centre of the image. For the first layer I also cut between each petal to allow each to forma separate shaped. The very centre of the flower is just one piece. Once I had cut out the stamped image I layered it onto a piece of Copper Foil Sheet which I cut using the scalloped Layered Oval Thinly. Added housing in Copper Metallic thread behind the ovals and dimensionalised the ovals. You will see that I also stamped and coloured five smaller flowers from the Lovely Lattice set and curled them little too once I had cut them out, I wanted the flowers to feel like they had been scattered at the top. As always I like to dimensionalise my cards and give them a lot of layers. Here is a side view. The colours truly compliment the copper foil and bright Bermuda Bay background. I wanted the polished stone technique to meld well with the project and not be outshone and I hope that I have found that difficult balance. I think that this stamp set is going to be extraordinarily popular for every level of stamper because the beautiful fine line of the images lends itself to colouring an simplistic monochromatic stamping too. . . stay tuned as I feature this set over the coming weeks. Building flowers is easy and makes a massive impact. The sentiment is from the Incredible Like You stamp set which will be released in the Occasions Mini due out in early January. I stamped in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White and punched it out with the Everyday Label. I hope you have found some inspiration in my project today and that you feel inclined to give this technique a go. I made this gorgeous card using my Stampin' Up! Corner Garden and Best Thoughts stamp sets. The Corner Garden stamp is one of my favorites because it's really versatile and the flowers are a lot of fun to color. Since this is purple I can't help but love how it turned out lol! Here's how to make it: First cut a 5 3/4" x 9 1/2" piece of dark purple card stock and fold it in half for the base and a 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake for the front layer. Then heat emboss the flowers with Versamark ink and white embossing powder then color them with the whitewash technique and the following Stampin' Up! inks: Craft White, Mint Macaron and Wisteria Wonder. Besides the spectacular views, one of the things that attracted us to this house, when we were looking online at properties, was the beautiful barnwood wall in the living room. I'm sure this house has a great story to tell, if only the walls could talk! We know that the wood was taken from an old barn down by the river, although we're not sure where. I do know the oak plank walls in my craft room were from an old oak tree that used to stand right next to the house. Since we had to have the dead ash tree cut down, I'm hoping to use some part of it to preserve its memory with the homestead, too. Though I haven't figured out just how, yet. So, the beautiful barnwood walls, as seen in the photo above, were my inspiration for today's card. Some Shimmery White cardstock was embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder, then I dragged Soft Suede, Smoky Slate, and Basic Gray ink pads lightly over it to give it that weathered look. The Hearth & Home Framelits die window frame was cut from Whisper White Thick cardstock, and the cat was punched in Basic Black. Yeah, I know, it doesn't look like my Punkin at all, but I was fresh out of orange tabby cardstock, LOL. I used the Queen Anne’s Lace Stamp Set to make this card. I love how delicate it looks; just simple and pretty!

I looked at the inspiration card at Muse Challenges and this Indigo Blu stamp came to my mind. I embossed it with copper EP but it doesn't look too coppery in this picture. I'm having to take pics with my phone as my camera is playing silly kids. I over stamped with SU French Foliage splats and embossed in black adding a few home made squuins and some tiny pearls. The sentiment is from Rubber Necker stamps. I did try to add a little washi tape but couldn't find anywhere that improved the look of the card, so I left well alone! Here is the inspiration card. This next one uses a few stamps from SU's Painted Petals set and a sentiment from Hero Arts. I used the colours from Colours and Sketches and based my layout on the sketch at Retro Sketches I inked the flower head stamp with yellow ink and then rolled a red ink pad across the tips of the petals. I just love these stitched dies from Simon Says Stamp.

Beautiful Friendship is becoming one of my favorite stamp sets. This stampset is a perfect way to create a one layer card. I used it in a color challenge.

Hey Y'all! How many of you ever played with paper dolls? If you ever did, then this technique will be a breeze! I have had this card in my mind for a while, and it finally came to fruition! I used the Beautiful You and Lots of Love stamp sets, but the focus of the card is that beautiful Whole Lot of Lovely DSP. I want about 100 sheets of just this pattern, what about you? I even added it to the envelope flap to tie it all together. To "Paper Piece", all you have to do is stamp the image on the cardstock, then stamp the image on the DSP and cut out the part to "piece" over the image, in this case the dress and hat. To make the hat, I stamped the Burlap Background stamp onto a piece of Crumb Cake, then stamped the image, and just cut out the hat. I added a small piece of Basic Black Cardstock and a piece of gold baker's twine (retired). That's what I used for the necklace as well. To make the necklace look like it goes around her neck, I made small slits in the paper and pushed the cord through then taped it to the back. Her "bangle" is a small piece of gold foil. Now this card is not for the faint of heart because that was alot, and I mean ALOT of tedious work! But it was well worth it! It came out even better than I imagined! I gold embossed the sentiments, and I have to confess I used contraband on this card. Contraband is anything that is not Stampin' Up! The embossing folder is one I had in my stash, but I loved the elegant look. It is Paper Studio if you are wondering. Hey, y'all know you have contraband in your stash too! The flowers on the inside of the card are from Lots of Love. I stamped the middle flower full strength in Calypso Coral, then stamped off the other two. Hi everyone, I was reminded recently of this technique using ink refills and Water Painters (#512298). Using a variety of ink refills and a Water Painter, I randomly coloured a piece of the Shimmery White card (#121717) as shown above. (This photo is another piece I coloured as I didn’t photograph the piece before I cut it). Shimmery White card is perfect for watercolouring, so great for this technique. You can get more subtle colours by using more water when colouring. You can allow this to air dry or use the Heat Tool (#129056) for a quicker result. Once dried I cut the coloured card using the Butterfly Beauty base Die (#151819). Then the Brass Foil Sheet (#153057) was cut with the “outline” die from the same set. I had used the Adhesive Sheets (#152334) on the back of the foil sheets before cutting, which makes it so easy to adhere this more detailed die-cut piece. The Whisper White card front (#106549) was embossed with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder (#153200). The butterflies were attached to the card with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430). The sentiment is from the Blossoms In Bloom stamp set (#p152684) and stamped with Highland Heather ink (#147103). The die to cut the sentiment is one of the Stitched Rectangles Dies (#152323). This was attached to the card with Mini Glue Dots (#103683). The beautiful Gilded Gems (#152478) were added to finish the card. Hi Again Stampers!! This card was created for the SU-per Challenges #96 Color Challenge and decided to combine three different stamp sets to create this little scene. I also incorporated the Splitcoaststampers' CAS331 Sketch Challenge (a loose interpretation :-))- see the details here and gallery here.
