I shared this beautiful NEW Stampin' Up! Frames & Flowers Speciality Designer Series Paper and I have paired it with the Bird's Eye View Stamp Set in a recent video. I had the branch Nested Essential Dies piece in my Use It Up Box and knew out would be perfect with this design. I stamped and coloured using Stampin' Blends the bird to match the colours in the Designer Series Paper. I grabbed another piece from my Use it Box using the Stylish Shape Dies for behind the Bird that I ink blended with matching ink. I finished the card with a few Petal Pink Foiled Gems. Hello and welcome to a new project share - my design team project for Just Add Ink challenge 676, which is a photo inspiration challenge. With Halloween and Thanksgiving in North America around the corner, the pumpkin in the challenge image is a popular theme. I'm not that fond of pumpkins (except for in pumpkin scones) or orange in general so what to make? A sweet little birdie from the Bird's Eye View stamp set with pumpkin like dimensions and colours was the fun answer for me. The neutral colours and patterns in the image gave me the rest of my palette. Here's how my card turned out. Tweet? I'm getting used to using unexpected colours and it was fun creating my little birdie. I stamped the images in Basic Grey Ink, then coloured with Stampin' Blends markers in Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze (2 colours I rarely use but like here), Old Olive, and Granny Apple Green. The stack of books is a nod to the intricate flat tray (?) under the pumpkin, coloured with combinations of Ivory, and Light & Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends. A Deckled rectangle and the checks and greys reflected the colours, patterns and softness of the image - Gray Granite - a warm grey I often forget about. The paper is a retired neutral stack (bring back the gingham I say!) which I embossed with the retired Subtle folder. Oh how I wish for some new simple folders like this one. Inside are many elements from the front plus another sweet birdie friend. So what do you think? Did I meet the challenge brief. I hope my card has given you some ideas to try. You'll find all our team projects here on the Just Add Ink blog. You'll find and can shop for all the supplies you need to make your own version here in my online store. Welcome to the latest challenge at Colour INKspiration! This colour palette was chosen by Crew Member Monica Formosa. If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group. Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge. The guest designer this challenge is Alisa Tilsner. If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. - for example Crushed Curry for Bumblebee. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends. I am so very pleased that I bought the Artfully Layered bundle from the 2022 January-June Mini Catalogue. I moved it into my A-List because the DSP from the New Horizons suite was unavailable and what a serendipitous decision that was! (Although, who am I kidding - I'd have always got them both - and will do, once available.) To create the variegated leaves in both the main spray of foliage and the tiny die cut leaves, I first inked up the stamp in Bumblebee then added in some Cajun Craze with a sponge dauber. It's a very easy and effective way to create mixed colours in a solid stamp. The feathery leaf die-cut and tiny leaves are cut from So Saffron, while the skeleton leaf is cut from Bumblebee. The fringing around the sentiment is created from the White 3/4" Frayed Ribbon. Wow - it really does what is says on the tin.... beautiful frayed ends to give a fringe look to the sentiment! Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in! If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. Calypso Coral with Bird’s Eye View and some Stampin’ Blends & Blending Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order, focussing on one colour each week. This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a softer orange called Calypso Coral. Calypso Coral is one of the Subtles Colour Family and while I would not call it a true subtle it is paler that an orange orange. This colour would be a lovely when used for flowers, coral, fish and birds and so much more. Calypso Coral is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Marker; Stampin' Blends Combo; Watercolour Pencils (Assortment 1); Subtles Designer Series Paper as well as Les Shoppes, Delightfully Eclectic, Let’s Go Fishing, Inked Botanicals DSP, plus Friends Forever & Colourful Kaleidoscope & Wreath of Blooms Kits; and Ombré Matte Decorative Dots & Iridescent Pastel Gems. That is quite a list. Calypso Coral card-stock, ink, Stampin’ Write Marker and Stampin’ Blends combo have been used in the creation of these projects plus a range of non-Calypso Coral bits and pieces. I love Calypso Coral so there was a plethora of possibilities for my project. I decided to choose something that hadn’t seen ink yet and decided on the oh so cute Bird’s Eye View stamp set. I was thinking of a simple layout but ended up using 4 different stamps/bundles and an embossing folder - ended up not so clean and simple!!! I started by stamping 3 of the little birds on Basic White card-stock with Versamark ink, Gold Emboss Powder, the Embossing Accessory Kit and a Heat Tool. The birds were coloured with Stampin’ Blends, ie Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Crumb Cake combos, a little Light Lemon Lolly and the Colour Lifter. I later decided to add some gold embossed flowers from the Petal Park stamp set that were also coloured with Light Calypso Coral, Petal Pink combo and Light Lemon Lolly Blends. The birds were fussy cut as they were from a stand alone stamp set. The flowers should have been punched out but I couldn’t find my punch so needed to fussy cut them - just as well I like fussy cutting. With a Basic White Thick card-stock card base, a Basic White card-stock layer was cut in two - roughly divided into a third/2 thirds. The larger piece was embossed with the Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder and a little Calypso Coral was splattered over with a Stampin’ Write Marker. The smaller piece of white card-stock had Balmy Blue Classic Stampin’ ink blended over part of it using a Stampin’ Blending Brush. It doesn’t really show in the photos as it became very lighter the further up - but I know it’s there. Foliage was cut from extra Basic White card-stock using one of the Gorgeously Made dies. Some Lost Lagoon ink was blended over sections of the foliage. All the pieces were arranged (and re-arranged) over the area where the 2 background layers converged and adhered in place with either Multi-purpose Liquid Glue, Mini Dimensionals or Glue Dots. A sentiment from the Layering Leaves stamp set was gold heat embossed on Basic White card-stock and fussy cut. First I had tried a white embossed sentiment on Calypso Coral card-stock but it was too strong in colour and detracted from the subtle colours. When positioning the white/gold sentiment I remembered I had the Calypso Coral sentiment so I layered it slightly off-set under the gold embossed sentiment. This gave a subtle Calypso Coral shadowing. Some Basic White Herringbone ribbon was cut in half down the centre lengthwise and one piece was tied into a bow before being being partially tucked under the ‘Th’ of the sentiment with a few Glue Dots. The final touch was the addition of some of the Calypso Coral Ombré Matte Decorative Dots. A Basic White card-stock inner had a thin strip of Calypso Coral card-stock at the bottom. A few leftover coloured pieces of leaves, flowers and a little bird decorated the inside of the card. A C6 Basic White envelope was gold embossed with some flowers. Thank you for dropping in to check out my Calypso Coral card. I so appreciate you. There is more Calypso Coral creativity so continue with the blog hop. Just click the "next" graphic below to be taken to the blog of the lovely Diane Furniss. I am looking forward to checking out Diane’s creation. I do love seeing everyones' projects - there is always so much inspiration. It is wonderful to see different ways this colour can be used. I do hope to see you next week when we will be featuring Cherry Cobbler as we continue the weekly 2023-2024 Colour Creations Blog Hop series. Stay well, stay safe and be kind to yourself and others.
