Today's card is one of the hard cards we need to make, a sympathy card. Words really are never enough, but they are important to say to the people you care about. I don't think there is any better way to say those words from afar, than with a handmade card. I have used the Rooted in Nature stamp set from the 2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. I created a water wash onto Shimmery White cardstock with a few drops of re-inker and my aquapainter. I used Crumb Cake for the ground, and Pool Party for the sky and Shaded...

Hello there! It's been a busy morning here in Weaverville! I had to go down the mountain to deliver orders and to take my husbands glasses to the eye doctors...they broke and need fixin'...well actually replacing! It's so great that they are standing behind the warranty! Remember last week when I share a beautiful card with a poppy on front...it was made with the Rooted in Nature stamp set. Today I'd like to share another card I created with this same stamp set...TOTALLY different look! Isn't it terrific? My card base is Basic Black with a 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock as the first layer. I used the Pinewood Plank embossing folder to emboss a 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock as my top layer. The stamped image is stamped onto a 3 1/4" X 3 1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock then layered onto a 3 3/8" X 3 3/8" piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock and finally onto a 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" piece of Basic Black cardstock. I then attached it to the card base with dimensionals. The sentiment, which is also from the Rooted in Nature stamp set is stamped onto a scrap piece of Wood Texture designer paper and I cut the banner ends by hand. The ink colors that I used are Mossy Meadow, Crumb Cake and Memento Black! The inside of the card says....to thank you for all you do! Super cool Father's Day card! Well...I hope this inspires you to make your Father's Day card by hand! This would also make a great MASCULINE birthday card! Have FUN with it! Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by...have a wonderful rest of your day and I'll be back tomorrow with more inspiration! I went to bed last night with plans of getting up early and hitting the road at 6:00 AM for a baseball tournament, only to wake up to a message that games had been delayed by two hours. My first thought??? Sweet, some extra time to stamp! I will never complain about that! The only bummer is that one of my boys also woke up not feeling well, so we stayed behind this morning and missed the first game. He's feeling a bit better, so we are getting ready to pack up and head out for game two later this afternoon. Before we head out, I wanted to share what I made this morning, thanks to my unexpected extra stamp time. A co-worker asked me to make a card for her to send to her uncle who has just recently started cancer treatment. With a little help from this weeks Freshly Made Sketches and Rooted In Nature, I created a simple Thinking of You card. I am so happy this stamp set and coordinating dies carried over...it's one of my favorites! And I'm still stuck on the Subtle Embossing Folder...its just the right amount of texture! The Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack came in perfect when adding the finishing touches to the card. I love that the Leaves Trinkets carried over too! Supplies Used: Paper ~ Whisper White, Mossy Meadow, Crumb Cake Ink ~ Mossy Meadow, Memento, Stampin' Blends: Mossy Meadow, Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede Stamp Set ~ Rooted In Nature Other Supplies ~ Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack, Nature's Roots, Leaves Trinkets And we're off...wish us luck that our drive is uneventful and we have a successful second game! Have a great Saturday! Happy Stamping!

Welcome to the Rooted in Nature edition of the Stamp Review Crew! The super talented Heidi was the first stop, and I'm number two. There are sixteen of us this time, and we're welcoming a new Crew member, Mary Haugen. What is the Stamp Review Crew? We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who hope to inspire you by picking one stamp set (or bundle) and showing many ways to use it! As soon as I saw the Rooted in Nature bundle, which is available in wood or clear mount, I knew I had to have it! I love trees and leaves - they're so....nature-y! And this tree reminds me of the huge old ash tree we had to cut down last year because it succumbed to the emerald ash borer. That tree was probably 150 years old, I'm guessing, and I was so sad to see it go. Anyhoo, one of the things I really liked about the Nature's Roots Framelits are the dies that just make impressions in the cardstock. They kind of remind me of fossils, and I used them on Watercolor Paper here because it's nice and thick, and leaves a deep impression. (Heh heh, see what I did there?) Did you notice the copper spatters? I made my own shimmer spray with the Bright Copper Shimmer Paint that will be in the Holiday catalog starting next month! It's easy to do - just fill a Stampin' Spritzer about 3/4 full of rubbing alcohol, then add the shimmer paint and shake well. Instead of spritzing, I took the sprayer with the attached tube out and tapped it to make spatters. After inking up the tree with Early espresso, I used a sponge dauber to pick up a little of the shimmer paint and dabbed it around the edges the stamp before stamping on Very Vanilla. Look at what a beautiful sheen it has! (You can click the photo to zoom in.) No card is compete without decorating the envelope in some way, right? Instead of stamping the tree image on the envelope, I thought I'd make the flap match the impressed card background. Nothing like a little taste of what is to come! Well, that's my project for today. Up next is the always awesome Bronwyn Eastley! Have you ever embossed on designer series paper? I have not, so this is something new for me. I love learning new things! On the card that is our inspiration for CASEing Tuesday, the creator did just that. I really like how it looks and will be trying it on...

Hi There everyone and thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I have an easy new project to share with you today. Im using the Rooted in Nature stamp set, available in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue (available for you to order on June 1, 2018). Here it is; This is such a beautiful stamp set and its part of a beautiful suite called Natures Poem. I used just ONE COLOUR on this card - Crumb Cake (well, two if you include Very Vanilla). I started with a Crumb Cake card base. I stamped the images using Crumb Cake ink directly onto Crumb Cake. I love the effect that this gives. I used the sponge daubers around the edge of the card stock. I mounted this onto a piece of Very Vanilla and then onto the card base. Next, I stamped the images onto a smaller piece of Very Vanilla. Some of the images, I stamped directly and some of the other images, I 'stamped-off' to give a lighter effect. I then mounted this onto a piece of Crumb Cake and then mounted this onto a piece of Very Vanilla. Then, using dimensionals, I mounted onto the card base. Do you like the sentiment? I really like how it turned out. I clear embossed onto a piece of Very Vanilla. Then over the top of this, I stamped the tree trunk and the embossed image (sentiment) resisted - i LOVE emboss resist. I then trimmed this piece down and mounted onto a piece of Very Vanilla. This stamp set cannot be purchased yet. However, if you join my team of demonstrators Australia-wide, you can add this to your starter kit. I can't wait for you to see the entire catalogue. If you are one of my customers and you have ordered from me in the last six months (orders over $50), I have arranged for one to be sent to you directly from Stampin' Up!. Additionally, I have sent you a small package too. Happy Monday peeps! Boy, after the busy weekend we had, my mojo is in the TANK! I cannot muster up any creativity today! I squeaked out a couple of masculine cards for the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch and the Addicted to CAS: Masculine challenge: I still have lots of DSP from last year's catalog, so I pulled out this crackly-looking one (I am too lazy to look up the name of it!!) and stamped the tree from Rooted in Nature directly on top using Mossy Meadow ink and an Early Espresso marker for the trunk: The flip side of the paper has monochromatic stripes, so I cut off the bottom one, which matches Soft Sea Foam almost perfectly, and stamped some leaves on top. The sentiment is from Perennial Birthday, and if you look closely, you can see a little row of diecut dots above the Mossy Meadow ribbon; they're from the Swirly Snowflakes thinlets die...so cute! I did another one, a little more "somber" using the Wood Textures DSP, same sentiment, same stamp, same ribbon, same die: This one is mounted on a Mossy Meadow card. Simple and easy...that's all I can seem to muster up today! Speaking of trees, on Sunday after church, we went to Go Ape at Lums Pond, Delaware, which is a tree-top/ziplining "adventure"! It was my birthday present from Dana and Wayne, and we took the "junior" course because Cassidy was with us, and us older folks couldn't handle the rope ladders, ziplines over the pond and Tarzan swings through the trees! I can't figure out how to embed the videos of us ziplining here, but if you're on my FB page, you might be able to find them! You will just have to be satisfied with some photos otherwise! Here we all are at the beginning...happy, smiling, not sweating too much (it was HOT!): We all had to wear harnesses, which are rather uncomfortable, and accentuate various parts of your body that you might not prefer to be accentuated, but so is everyone else...so we just dealt with it! Here's Cassidy in hers: Here I am, about 15 feet up in the air, crossing a wooden pathway...this one was easy! And see what I mean about the accentuating? Here are Cassidy and Dana on a different type of bridge; this one was much more challenging...the look on Cassidy's face pretty much says it all! This was on a level 2, but we all made it through just fine! They call this the "taco"...and believe me, you feel like a taco, trying to squeeze through the net! Dana seemed to be having no trouble at all with it! It ended with a little zip line ride, which we all did at least two or three times! We were hot and sweaty and not quite as chipper at the end: It was definitely fun and I think AUTUMN would be a good time to go, LOL! Enjoy your day and be blessed! Project Details—All Products SU! Hello and welcome, Today I wanted to share with you a card that I created for my hubby’s birthday. Blue is a colour that he likes and I wanted to use one of the New In-Colors for 2019-2021 called Seaside Spray which is available next month. The card was cased from Connie Collins who was an Artisan in 2018 and she created a similar card using the colour Soft Suede. I’ve seen it pop up on Pinterest many times. I used Night of Navy Cardstock and ran a piece through the Big Shot with the Corrugated Embossing Folder. I wanted to highlight the corrugated look with some Copper Embossing Powder, so I lightly sprinkled it on and heat embossed. The larger leaves were stamped in Seaside Spray and Night of Navy. I then used a Sponge Dauber in theses colours for different shades on the leaves. The greeting I’ve used is one of the sentiments from the stamp set Picture Perfect Birthday. I stamped the image with VersaMark Ink and used Copper Embossing Powder. I’ve used a new Die which is available next month called Stitched Nested Labels and I’ve sponged the edges in Seaside Spray with a Sponge Dauber. To finish off the card I used the Copper Trim which can be stretched to make the trim wide. I love this effect. The fine Copper Metallic Thread was wrapped around my hand and placed down before adding the greeting. Hope you liked my card and thank you for visiting my blog. Product List Stamps: Rooted In Nature and Picture Perfect Birthday Dies: Stitched Nested Labels Cardstock: Night Of Navy and Seaside Spray Ink: Night Of Navy, Seaside Spray, Versamark Ink Tools and Accessories: Big Shot, Sponge Daubers, Corrugated Embossing Folder, Copper Trim, Metallic Thread in Copper, Stitched Nested Labels Dies, Nature’s Roots Dies
It’s been a delightful summer in my craft room, and I’m ready to get the show back on the road and share some of it with you. Would you like to see what I’ve been doing?
Happy Friday! Time for a TGIF Challenge . This week we are challenging you to create a card using a reflection. I've never played around with this technique. Ahem, I was a bit intimidated and unsure where to start but after some YouTube video research I was ready to play!
Today's card was inspired by Try Stampin' on Tuesday's sketch challenge #430 and the theme is Fall Fun. I'm not sure a tree changing color is fun, but it sure makes fall beautiful! This is the sketch for today's card and is a throwback from challenge #3. Make sure you check out what the other designers created using this sketch HERE. And if you get a chance to play along we'd love to see what you create! Very Vanilla Cherry Cobbler Cajun Craze Crushed Curry Early Espresso Thanks for looking and have a great day! Nick got moved into a new brace yesterday after school! He had x-rays on Monday, and it was revealed that he's progressing quite well. The patella is healing...the bone is fusing back together!
Creating this card was easy . . . off camera! lol! As soon as I attempted to recreate it on my Make It Monday Facebook Live, I struggled with 'grounding' it! The sunset? Easy Peasy! Making the ground . . . not so much! haha! However, if you persevere ( or Fast Forward) through my first couple of attempts, I do eventually figure out a work around! But, isn't that the beauty of a Facebook Live Broad cast? You get to see it all - the ups and the downs of trying to make a pretty card. My viewers were
It's time for one of my favourite challenges at Retro Rubber this week - tic tac toe. Jane's thought up a good one for us. I've played the diagonal: Green-Die or Punch-Nature. I've used two retro sets: Rooted in Nature and Artisan Textures, both from the 2018-19 Annual Catalogue. The two greens I've used are Shaded Spruce and Granny Apple Green. The two background trees I have stamped by colouring directly onto the stamp, hence the soft and misty effect. The foreground tree, which is also popped up, is directly inked from the pad then I've wiped the trunk and used a Soft Suede marker to colour that area. For the little die cut leaves behind the sentiment, I used a bit of rock-and-roll where I inked up in Granny Apple Green then rolled the edges around in Shaded Spruce before stamping. The team would love to see what you do with Tic Tac Toe challenge. You can see what the rest of the team have done, and link up your entry, by visiting Retro Rubber Challenge.
