The Olympics are here! I'll be honest, I've never spent much time watching the Olympics, but introducing it to my kids has been so much fun. There are many summer sports my kids can relate to. My two oldest are taking Judo and swimming lessons now, and they play tennis and golf. My seven year old has also done t-ball and soccer. I thought with today being opening ceremonies, it would be the perfect day to get a summer craft in. This craft is so simple, and you probably don't even have to bu

As much as I love the holidays, I am SO happy they are over, so we can do some fun themed activities! This week it is all about the GARDEN! Most of the printable activities are from my Garden Preschool Pack on TPT. Garden Preschool Pack We kicked off the Garden Theme with a fun play dough tray! We used mini flower pots from the Dollar Tree, flower Toobs, and then we made a batch of brown play dough. Seed Names- Hayden has been working hard to practice writing his name. And what child doesn't LOVE glue?! He traced his name in glue, and then covered it with sunflower seeds. Flower Garden Pretend Play! I created this over the summer when we had a farm theme. It is just pool noodles with brown felt hot glued around them. These flowers are from the Dollar Tree. Both boys loved to plant the flowers, and pick them! Beginning Sound Flower Pots- We practiced beginning sounds by identifying the vegetable, and sliding it into the pot with that letter. Pasta flowers! We died various shapes of pasta with liquid watercolors. Once they were dry, we used them to form flowers! Such a fun art project! Fine Motor Flower Counting- I love when I can combine two skills at once. Hayden is always engaged with fine motor activities, and so this was a hit! He counted beads onto each flower. Counting Flower Garden- Use pom poms to count flowers onto each stem. Seed Sorting Mats- We picked up a bunch of seed packets and sorted them. We talked about the similarities and differences in the seeds. Flower Patterns- We love adding a little extra in our pattern practice, so we used a pool noodle to stamp flower patterns with paint. Measure a Flower- This activity led to so many wonderful discussions about shorter/taller, and bigger/smaller! Hayden drew two flower stems, one short and one tall. Then we measured the length of each flower. Dirt Writing Tray- If you've followed me for awhile, writing trays are a staple around here. This "dirt" writing tray is simply coffee grounds! Planting Beginning Sounds- We added some black beans with our flower pots and planted flowers. On the bottom of each stick, I wrote the beginning sound for self checking. This activity also comes with a recording page. Flip and Trace- Flip a card, identify the letter, and trace it! Ten Frame Counting Mats- Use seeds, mini erasers, or play doh to add to each ten frame and flower pot. Garden Sensory Bin- We used play dirt for our filler and grabbed vegetable mini erasers and pots from Hobby Lobby. This was a lot of fun to plant and harvest the vegetables! Garden 5 Senses- I dipped each cotton ball in a strong scent (vanilla, cinnamon, vinegar, lemon) and placed it on a cupcake liner to look like flowers. We took turns smelling each 'flower' and guessing the smell! Purchase Garden Preschool Pack For more preschool themes and activities, be sure to check out my preschool themes MEGA bundle!! Fine Motor Alphabet Clip Freebie- Match and clip each letter. For older students, segment and blend the CVC word. You can grab the freebie HERE. We have a LOT MORE planned for the week!
