North Ave is a 100% wool, two-ply, woolen spun, fingering weight yarn. Each of the plies is a different colorway, and they are spun together for a truly unique yarn. Studio Linen is a DK weight 100% linen yarn that has a very silky feel to it. It's made from 85% viscose (recycled linen) fiber, sorted from selected wastage and produced using an eco-friendly hydrolysis method and 15% premium natural linen. Linen itself comes from the flax plant which does not require irrigation. We do not recommend winding it on a swift and ball winder because the yarn has a tendency to tangle. This is one yarn where it is better to wind it by hand into an *old school* type of ball. Studio Linen has a slight sheen to it, a soft drape, and excellent stitch definition. *** Note: Studio Linen is labeled as 85% viscose (recycled linen) because the post-production linen waste is spun using a wet spinning process. EU regulations require that a fiber using a wet spinning process be labeled as viscose. The yarn is not rayon or an artificial fiber. The Lee Tie is Row House's first menswear design, and our first collaboration with James Cox Knits. You can learn more about James Cox Knits here. Since James first began to design, he has focused on menswear (being a gent himself). The Lee Tie is a casual garter stitch tie - it's great with jeans or casual pants. The tie's finished dimensions are 2 1/4" wide at the widest point, 50" long. It's designed with Flying Goat Farm's Mo Paca yarn in brown. Mo Paca is a limited batch yarn blended from Flying Goat Farm's brown mohair goats and a neighboring farm's alpaca fleece, all in Maryland. No dyes or chemicals are used to process the fiber. The fiber is processed at a small mill to allow the fiber to be treated gently, so you may find that it has more natural character (and a bit of hay here or there) than fiber processed at an industrial mill. Mo Paca is only available in the Lee Tie Kit. Our Row House Tutorial Design integrates our skills videos via hotlinks in the PDF to teach you the basics of knitting by linking through to our skills videos. No knitting experience necessary.
