This Intermediate Literacy Bundle has been specifically created to develop students’ vocabulary, writing and reading skills. What percentage of a product is actually trash? Why is there so much plastic waste? The students bring in unopened packages from home and find the percent of packaging with a pan balance. The discussion questions involve them analyzing the components of their package and determining what they would consider “necessary“ and “unnecessary” to either protect the product or sell the product. They will analyze which components can be recycled and which will end up in a landfill.
