One of the most frequently asked questions I get is "Where or how do you come up with some of your ideas/page designs?" So I thought I would share with you all today what inspired me to come up with this page design I made with some of my favourite Maja Design papers from the Ska vi ta en Fika collection. This layout began from an inspiration photo I found on Pinterest. It was a photo of some crocheted blooms with some muslin fabric. Here is the photo.... I just love the look of the white blooms with the touch of soft green and the draped look of the fabric on the gingham material. I immediately started thinking about how I could imitated this look on a scrapbook page. My first thought was of Maja papers since there are so many wonderful fabric look pages to choose from and I know that the 'Fika' collection has some lovely gingham style papers. Here are the main papers I used for this project.... I used the 'Kladdkaka' paper as my gingham background and then cut the "Chaite" paper in a drape design on a diagonal (I was also cutting out the lavender blooms at the same time because I was just going with the green accent on this page. I used the green "Smulpaj m äpplen-bs" paper as matting for my photo just to add that little extra touch of apple green. To make the blooms I used the Spellbinders smallest die from the 'Rose Creations' dies, I cut out a whole bunch from simple white/cream cardstock and gave each of the petals a little crinkle. I finished each bloom with an adhesive pearl. I had a section of apple green trim in my stash (from a local dollar store - no name) that I used to add a bow to each floral cluster. I created a drape by first cutting the 'Chaite' paper in a curvey line, then moistening the edge with water and then creating the draped line with my finger tips. I felt that the draping wasn't as lush as I wanted it to look so I used the scrap pieces left of the 'Chaite' paper and cut out 3 crescents (giving them a little bit of a fold as well) and tucked them under each of the draped areas. To embellish around my photo, I cut two hearts, one from the 'Kladdkaka' paper and the other from a scrap piece of paper I had from the 'Life in the Country' collection called 'Kitchen Garden'. I matted the hearts with some plain white cardstock and trimmed with a scallop edge scissor. I also cut out a couple of clock designs from the new 'Vintage Autumn Basics' collection "No. XVI". The cameo is one I had in my stash from Websters Pages. I added a brocade design to the background paper to go with the 'fabric' theme using a Crafters Workshop stencil (Mini Damask) and some home-made texture paste. I added some flourish to the page with a Dusty Attic chipboard flourish (Corner Flourish #1) which I coated with Gesso and stamped with a Bo Bunny script stamp and finished with crackle varnish. Maja Design Supplies: Ska vi ta en Fika (Kladdkaka, Chiate, Smulpaj m äpplen-bs), Life in the Country (Kitchen Garden), Vintage Autumn Basics (No. XVI). Before I sign off for today I just wanted to note that you can find Maja Design papers in your area by using the Maja Design Store Finder HERE. New countries and retailers are being added daily! I recently found out that Janene at The Scrapbook Diaries in New York just got in a nice supply of many of the Maja Design collections including the NEW Autumn Basics collection, just click on the name to check it out :) I hope you enjoyed my project today and perhaps gained a little insight into how my mind works when creating a page :) .... and hope that you have fun with some fabric inspiration using Maja Design papers! xo

Hi everyone! For today's project I thought I would have some fun mixing collections. I just love pouring through my Maja Design papers and picking and choosing which designs I want to put together to make up a project! For this page I think I dipped into quite a few collections! For the base of the layout I used papers from the Sofiero collection, then for the fussy cut blooms and clocks I used paper from Vintage Autumn Basics. I even used a little strip of scrap paper I had left from Vintage Summer Basics (1922-bs) the small scallop strip with white dots, and some butterflies from Vintage Spring Basics. The photo I scrapped was one taken of my oldest daughter Chloe when we were out on a walk :) Here is a close-up of the center piece of my layout, so you can see the fussy cut blooms and clocks that I adhered with foam pop dots so that they would stand up from the page. The chipboard frame is from Dusty Attic (Decorative Scroll #1) that I coated with Gesso, stamped and finished with a crackle varnish. I did a lot of inking and spritzing for this page as well as a little bit of masking with stencils and texture paste. I used a little bit of Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Victorian Velvet along the bottom edge of the diagonal strip before I used a Crafters Workshop (Damask 6x6) stencil along the edge. For Spraying I used Lindy's 'Clam bake Biege' and Perfect Pearls 'Intereference Red' (it's more of a pink color with lots of shimmer). (most of these goodies are stuff that I have left from kits from The Scrapbook Diaries a great source in the USA/Canada for Maja Design products!) I used another stencil in the top right corner (Prima Flourish 12x12) as well as lots of fun stamps, Prima Stitches Stamps, Bo Bunny Distressed stamps. Added a little washi tape (Freckled Fawn) and added more fussy cut images from the Vintage Autumn Basics collection. (I used the rose blooms from the Vintage Autumn Basics collection rather than the roses from the Sofiero collection, which I used for the background, because the images were a little deeper in color and I thought would work better for a fussy cut bloom. Maja Design Supplies: Sofiero Collection (Enjoying the Fragrance-bs, Strolling Down the Rose Path-bs), Vintage Autumn Basics (No. II, No. XVI, VI-bs), Vintage Spring Basics (6th of May - fussy cut butterflies), Vintage Summer Basics (1922-bs) Thanks for stopping by today and for the kind comments! xo xo
When I first saw this sweet daffodil paper from the Maja 'Vintage Spring Basics' collection I just knew I had to scrap this photo I took of my youngest daughter a couple of years ago. There is a little forest we walk in, close to our home and come Spring there are huge patches of daffodils growing in it. Meagan always keeps an eye out, just waiting for them to bloom so she can pick a little bouquet for her room. For this layout I played a little with some mixed media. I did a little bit of masking with some texture paste and did a little stamping and dry brushing as well with some coordinating paints. I wanted to do a little bit of misting first but didn't have the right color, so I used some Dusty Attic paint in a 'Bisque' color that I thought nicely complimented the yellows in the background paper. I then adhered my photo to the page and dry-brushed a little more paint over the edges of my photo to kind of fade it into the background. The next layer I added is some random stamping. I used text stamp from Bo Bunny and another ledger stamp from 7 Gypsies. The final layer I added was a texture paste design in random places around the photo and in one corner of my page where I would add some extra accents. I finished things off with some adhesive pearls by Recollections. I wanted to use some natural/neutral accents on the page as well, so I used a whole bunch of goodies from the My Little Yellow Bicycle 'Naturals' collection. I used the smaller of the Cork Tags, as well as the Wood Buttons (Etched), the Tiny Clothspins (words), and the Cork Alphas. I just love these embellishments, they can fit in with any color layout. NOTE: Just a little FYI! My Little Yellow Bicycle Store is selling everything in it at 25% off till the end of June, you just use this code MYLYB50, so get while the gettin's good! You can find the store HERE I didn't have any yellow blooms in my stash so I made my own flowers using some yellow felt I had in my supplies. These are so easy-peasy to make! You can find the tutorial on how to make these in the right side panel of my blog under my tutorials. Supplies: Patterned Paper - Vintage Spring Basics (1st of March, 8th of March-bs, 7th of April, 6th of May), Blooms - handmade (tutorial at Such a Pretty Mess blog), Cork Tag, Cork Alpha's, Natural Wood Buttons, Clothspeg (My Little Yellow Bicycle), Chipboard - Dusty Attic Designs (Small Scroll), Paint - Dusty Attic, Bird Trinket - Prima Marketing, Stamps - Bo Bunny Background Stamps, 7 Gypsies, Websters Pages Diamond Tag Stamp, Texture Paste - home-made (Recipe can be found at Such a Pretty Mess blog), Other: Lace trim (off the roll), Mask: from Michaels (Americana). I just love that you can scrap so many color combinations with this paper collection! I've done layouts in blue, pink, lilac, yellow and taupe with this collection. Have you tried it yet?

I love this photo, it is so old world elegant if that makes sense? This layout was done in my pre Stampin' Up! days. The papers are K and Co Hannah range, and the stamps are by Technique Tuesday and Carolees. The chipboard is from a 'Grandmother' word by Scrap FX, but I just cut the mother bit off as we always called her 'Gran'....

The 24th of the 36 Cut Files for Stitching is a Sunburst! Design Team Member Noelle Culp created this eye-catching page! She says, "For this layout, I used the little orange rainbows Paper 11 from Splendid (because seriously, it's one of my favs!) and stitched around it. In between the rays I added more embroidery floss with sequins strung onto it - I left them loose so they actually still move around. Framing my photo (which was a silly family pose we did together) I made flowers out of papers from Garden Shoppe using Paige's Layered Flower Cut File. Lastly, I added a sentiment Epoxy Sticker and a phrase using the gold Thickers, both from Splendid." SUPPLIES: Patterned papers, stickers, Thickers: GARDEN SHOPPE & SPLENDID; sequins; white cardstock; Cut file: Sunburst Blog // Instagram // Facebook // Pinterest ***** Here is one more layout made with today's Sunburst from the 36 Cut Files for Stitching by Guest Designer Holly Attfield! She says, "When I saw this Sunburst I knew immediately that I wanted to use photos of a gorgeous sunset we saw on a recent trip to the Maldives. I love using the chain stitch to add depth and dimension to a page. I changed the color of embroidery floss in each ray of the sunburst to match the pinks, oranges, and yellows of the sunset. I used foam adhesive to elevate the patterned paper inset into each arm of the sunburst, which created a wonderful platform for the large title!" SUPPLIES: Patterned papers, die cuts, stickers, Thickers, embellishments: SPLENDID, BUNGALOW LANE & WONDERS; Cut file: Sunburst from the 36 Cut Files for Stitching by Paige Evans Instagram // Facebook Once you purchase the 36 Cut Files for Stitching you'll receive instant access to all 36 designs. You can also grab the cut files individually HERE. Come back every day this month to see inspiration for how to use them! See you again tomorrow!
Hi everyone! I'm happy to share with you today a layout I made using the cheerful sunny, Maja Design "Walking in the Forest" collection, as well as some clock images cut from the Vintage Autumn Basics paper collection. I used the following papers: Walking in the Forest (Autumn Poem, Flannel Shirt-bs, Cozy Scarf-bs), Vintage Autumn Basics (XVI)....love this paper for it's lovely clock accents! I used the Autumn Poem paper as my background matting paper and then cut the backside of the 'Flannel Shirt' paper to leave about an inch around the outside of the paper. I inked the background with some Tim Holtz 'Antique Linen' Distress ink around the photo area using a sponge applicator. I then did a little stamping with a couple of stamps I designed for The Scrapbook Diaries (brick stamp from my textures set and some script from my Labels stamp set). The title is from a Dusty Attic word pack #10. I gave all my chipboard a coat of white Gesso (I like to do this so that when I ink them, the colors show up brighter). I then inked the chipboard with a Denim Distress Ink. I used the Dusty Attic 'Leafy Scroll' chipboard design for my corner accent. Again I painted it white with Gesso and then just randomly inked the leaves with Ingvild Bolme 'Rock Moss' chalk ink and edging with some Ingvild Bolme 'Branch Bark' chalk ink. I cut banner strips from the backside of the Cozy Scarf paper and layered a few under the corner vine as well as under the photo area. Do you ever have a page where you thoroughly enjoy working on it?This is one of those layouts for me....the colors make me happy and every piece just seemed to work. You can find Maja Design Papers and Dusty Attic Chipboard and my Stamp Designs at The Scrapbook Diaries. (For those of you in Australia/New Zealand you can find my stamps at Embellish It!) ....And some good news for those of you in the UK! There is a shop called The Mad Scrapper owned by Janine O'Roarke who is arranging to carry my stamps in her store, I will let you all know when she has them in stock! :) Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today, I so enjoy reading your sweet comments and feedback! xo
Hello everyone! Stefanie Ried here and welcome to a new layout! What could be more beautiful than to bring colorful colors to a white paper? I love it so so much!! Paige's collections offer a wide range of all colors. They're all so beautiful and versatile. For my layout I used colorful yarns and different stickers, motifs, beads, sequins, etc. from different collections. I also have a weakness for ribbons & yarns. I collect them in a box they serve as decoration on my table. The idea for this layout was born during my last mini album made with Truly Grateful. I also wrapped yarns around the book cover and attached the photos and beads to it. And since I did that in other projects, this time it was the colorful yarns. So that it doesn't get too colorful and too big, I only placed the yarns in the middle of the layout. I also hung the photo on the yarn. I think that will not be my last layout with yarns and embellishments, haha :) Many thanks for stopping by! Hi all, today I have another page to share with you using Maja Design papers and Dusty Attic Chipboard (as well as a few lovely page accents sent to me from Lucy at Tresors de Luxe). As I was scrapping this recent photo of my youngest daughter, I was struck by how much she's grown up. I can't believe she is a teenager now (turned 13 over the summer). I miss her being my baby girl, but I also have enjoyed every stage of her life, this girl cracks me up with her funny sense of humour and quirky style. For this page I used a modge podge of Maja Design papers. I more often than not combine a variety of Maja papers, coordinating them by color rather than collection name. I used a variety of scraps in neutral tones and greens to make my rolled paper accents. I rolled up the scraps and then bound them with some twine. I added a fun l'il door hook on the side of my paper from Ingvild Bolme's Junkyard Findings. I used a variety of Dusty Attic chipboard as part of my page design, including a Skeleton Clock Frame, Foliage, and the 'So Sweet' title. For the frame I first painted the pieces with some white Gesso. Then I randomly dabbed on some 'Broken China' and 'Peeled Paint' Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I did a little edging with Ingvild Bolme's 'Branch Bark' Chalk Ink. Then I added a coat of Inksenttials Crackle Medium. When it was dry and crackled I dabbed on some 'Walnut Stain' Distress ink so that it got in the little cracks and whipped off the excess ink. I used the 11th of March-bs paper as the green background frame for my page and as the main background paper I used the backside of 'Flannel Shirt' paper from 'Walking in the Forest Collection'....this is one of my favorite papers to use as a nice neutral background, especially when I do some mixed media on the page as I did here. I used a bit of Broken China and Peeled Paint Distress ink pads on the page and added some texture with home-made texture paste and a Crafter's Workshop Stencil called 'Mini Damask'. The butterfly is an image that I printed on a piece of transparency and cut out. I wanted to keep my blossoms soft and clean, so I went with a burlap bloom from Petaloo and two white blossoms from Dusty Attic Designs. The small sugared dots are from Prima. The strip of lace I used on the bottom of the page and the natural floral cluster (just above the title) are both from Tresors de Luxe. I had a little fun with the title. First I gave it a coat of brown chalk ink 'Knotted Wood' by Ingvild Bolme, then I used some 'Waterfall' Stickles in the center of my alpha's. After it all dried I gave the whole thing a coat of gloss medium with some Glossy Accents. Maja Design Products used in this project: Vintage Spring Basics (11th of March-bs, 7th of April, 7th of April-bs), Antiglen (Kaffe på trappan), Walking in the Forest (Flannel Shirt-bs), Sofiero (brown dot). I hope you enjoyed today's project and hope you find yourself some time this week to get your Maja on. Dusty Attic Products used in this project: ~ Skeleton Clock Frames ~ Foliage ~ 'So Sweet' title chippie Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today, you ladies are all awesome, the comments you leave here really touch my heart, thanks for that! xo xo
