For being nearly 120 years old this book is in pretty good condition. As quoted on the title page this book has a complete and accurate account of the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. The Earthquake undoubtedly caused much damage in the city but the ensuing fire did the most damage as well as attempts at stopping the spread of the fire by dynamiting buildings ahead of the fire. Interestingly the author seems to think it was caused by volcanic activity however there are no active volcanoes near San Francisco. It occurred by the San Andreas Fault line. The earth is constantly moving, expanding and contracting, the faults are moving because of what is going on in earth's core. Some loosening of the spine but overall a pretty nice copy. Ships media mail for weight.
