Seguimos viajando, esta vez toca RUSIA. El sabor que caracteriza al té ruso es su toque ahumado, ¿sabéis por qué? También tiene su historia... Hoy en día, todos los rusos toman té gracias a la inaguración en 1904 del "Ferrocarril Transiberiano", pero en sus orígenes sólo se lo podían permitir la clase alta. El té se importaba desde China atravesando el "Desierto de Gobi", lo cual implicaba un largo viaje en camello y consecuentemente el coste se elevaba. Para poder llevar el máximo de té con el mínimo de peso, las hojas de la Camellia Sinensis no se envasaba en cajas de madera, sino que eran metidos en resistentes sacos que se introducían en otros más grandes y adaptados a los lomos de los camellos. Como el viaje era muy largo (duraba días) los mercaderes se veían obligados a acampar en medio del desierto y a encender fogatas para no pasar frío por las noches. Estos dos hechos aislados parecían no tener importancia, pero al estar los tés en sacos en vez de en cajas de madera favorecían la entrada del humo de las fogatas y como el té es un potente absorbe olores fue tomando ese toque ahumado a lo largo del viaje. Las dificultades que pasaban durante tan largo viaje también provocó que se sustituyesen las teteras de porcelana o cerámica por otras más resistentes y ligeras que derivaron en las actuales "Samovares". Uno de los tés ahumados que más nos gusta es el "Té Negro Lapsang Souchong", que también dicen es el té favorito de Sherlock Holmes, aunque no se nombra en ninguna de sus novelas. ¿Habéis probado algún té ahumado? ¿Habéis tenido ocasión de disfrutarlo en Rusia?
