Douglas Klauba is creating a series of paintings studying the Roman Pantheon of Goddesses, starting with DIANA. When the Century Guild Museum of Art in Los Angeles saw the Diana painting they decided to publish and make the work available as a signed and numbered edition of 90 large 22" x 28" prints. These listed Douglas Klauba Artwork prints are directly from the artist's files and are offered as Artist Personal Proofs, each hand signed with a APP (artist personal proof) marking. Each 22 x 28 print is professional printed on heavy weight paper, hand signed in silver ink. In Roman mythology, Diana was the goddess of the hunt, the moon, and nature. She had the power to communicate with animals, inhabited the highest mountains and sacred woods, and–betrothed to none–was honored as the virgin goddess of childbirth and the patron of all women. A mystical archetype of transition, the goddess Diana is present as a harbinger of change in innumerable moments of literature and cinema: for example, in Jean Cocteau's 1946 film La Belle et la Bête, it is the power of Diana which has transformed and imprisoned the beast. The symbol of Diana is the crescent moon, cleverly used here by Klauba as a magnificent, illuminating bow. - Century Guild Across the last twenty years, painter Douglas C. Klauba has created iconic and award-winning images for the most recognizable early 20th century icons from Doc Savage to Zorro. In addition to Doc Savage and Zorro, Doug has created covers for books featuring legendary 1930s characters Tarzan, John Carter of Mars, The Green Hornet, The Lone Ranger, and The Phantom, and painted licensed images for literary landmarks including Lord of the Rings, Buck Rogers, and Flash Gordon. A graduate of The American Academy of Art in Chicago and later attended the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. His paintings have been exhibited at The Society of Illustrators in New York and Los Angeles, and won numerous awards. Unfortunately, I regret that at this time, because of the current state of the US Post Office, I can not offer free shipping to our friends outside of the USA. I hope this will change very soon.
