Hands down, our favorite part of this week was our Float the Nile game! It was great comprehension practice for our pre-readers and they loved getting
We are still EXPLORING our way though the Old Testament. This week we are learning about King Manasseh, King Amon and King Josiah. Our MAIN focus will be on King Josiah---However, I will briefly cover Manasseh and Amon. This is our WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? WHERE? WHY? and HOW IS THIS IMPORTANT FOR US? WALL!!! This is the INFORMATION that I WANT to make sure the KIDDOS understand....if they understand each of these questions then I know they understand the lesson and it's importance!! Our Interactive Bulletin Board is nearly BUSTING off the WALL with INFORMATION!! The KIDDOS will be THRILLED to see that we have added the FROWNY/SMILY faces to the KINGS crowns. We are getting closer and closer to the EXILE of JUDAH. I LOVE how this Bulletin Board has "GROWN" with us...as we learn more information we ADD to this Bulletin Board!!! We have a NEW card for our "GOD'S AWESOME PLAN FOR MAN" WALL/TIMELINE. Notice the "LAW" is hidden among all that mess!!! The KIDDOS have two new words for the "WORD WALL." These words are not words you normally hear in the vocabulary of a 4-6 year old. So, I want to make sure they understand these words ---so they will understand the lesson. My Visual Aid is not FANCY.....It is just clip art that I printed out.....I will refer to the picture when I tell the story. I want to show you how I display this---I have some sticky dots that are on the front of the frame--(the frame came from Dollar Tree)--I just stick the VISUAL to the sticky dots. I normally get several uses of the sticky dots, before they lose their sticky. (How many times can I say sticky in one sentence. LOL) Our MEMORY VERSE this week comes from Leviticus. I feel the verse is a PERFECT verse for this LESSON. It will allow me to explain that the people of Judah had LOST the LAW and therefore, we NOT KEEPING GOD'S commandments. It will also allow me to talk to the KIDDOS about HOW IMPORTANT it is for us to KEEP GOD'S COMMANDMENTS!! If you would like to hear the little tune we are going to be using click on the link below. It will reroute you to the Facebook page for Hands On Bible Teacher. Memory Verse Song We have a NEW song for this lesson. I can't wait to teach this one to the KIDDOS. This song is sung to the TUNE: "Mary Had A Little Lamb." The KIDDOS "TAKE HOME" project is a SCROLL!!! I am excited about this SCROLL. You see, it started with some miniature ROLLING PINS. I purchased them from Rhode Island Novelty http://www.rinovelty.com/?gclid=CK-OgbXIxrkCFeZxQgodvjYAZA I do NOT receive any compensation from mentioning this company....I am trying to let you know where I find items for Bible Class. As soon as I saw these in their catalog I immediately thought SCROLLS!!!! I know most normal people would probably have thought BAKING party....NOPE, not me. :-) I think they turned out GREAT!!! I know the KIDDOS are going to LOVE making these on SUNDAY. BTW, I just PRINTED the verse on paper and cut it out...so, during class we will glue, roll and tie!! Quick and EASY Now, for our REVIEW GAME!!!! Our REVIEW GAME is also serving as a VISUAL for the KIDDOS. Please, let me explain! Do you see that MESS!! Sort of looks like my room is in DISARRAY!! Sort of looks NEGLECTED! :-) This was NO accident...I purposefully made this mess----(so contrary to my NEAT FREAK personality.) I am going to have the KIDDOS "FIND the LAW." We are going to talk about the MESS the Temple was in and how neglected it was---so, as the KIDDOS help me "clean" up this mess---we will find the LAW. We will celebrate and READ the scroll after we find it. :-) After we have "CLEANED" up the "TEMPLE," I mean classroom, then I am going to have the KIDDOS answer a question from the LESSON. If they get the answer correct then they get to HIDE the scroll and the OTHER KIDDOS have to find it. Once it is found we will REPEAT the process until each of the KIDDOS has an opportunity to HIDE the SCROLL. The KIDDOS will LOVE the HIDE and SEEK aspect of this game. Anytime we place a HIDE/SEEK game they get OVER THE TOP EXCITED!! BTW, this is what the SCROLL looks like---It is made from two ROLLING PINS...I purchased them at Thrift Stores and then added the Paper and WROTE the verse on it. Cheap and Yet very effective!!! Next week will be our REVIEW week for this LESSON. During that time the KIDDOS will get to "PLAY" the DO YOU KNOW CUBE Game. They will PULL a card from my hand and have to answer a question about the card they pulled. Then they will have to tell me which Cube it goes into....Who? What? When? Where? Where? Why? or How is this important to us? Cube. This is the Kiddos Explorer Journal Activity for next week. Their Explorer Journal Activity is King Josiah reading the LAW to the PEOPLE. The KIDDOS will ADD a 3D Scroll and a FOAMY/GLITTERY CROWN. Hope you can see the 3D Scroll effect. It looks REALLY good in person. NOW, about those FOAMY/GLITTERY sticker CROWNS. To make them I simply used FOAMY/GLITTERY letter stickers. I chose to use the letters "W" and "E" to make these crowns....I just manipulated them until they formed a CROWN. I think it turned out cute...and I did NOT have any crown stickers, so I just USED what I had in the supply room. I like to encourage others to RETHINK items---so, when you are RETHINKING these letters, DON'T YOU SEE KINGS CROWNS? :-) I am excited about this LESSON. The KIDDOS have learned a LOT of LESSONS from the LIVES of the KINGS of Israel and Judah. Blessings, Ronda

I've mentioned Mary and Rich Chamberlin's Mama Panya's Pancakes, A Village tale from Kenya, a couple of times now. It's a sweet story of how a little can become a little bit more, when you invite friends to share what you have. I checked the book out originally as part of our pancake day celebrations. There is "pancake" recipe at the back, though it is really for more of a tortilla like flat bread, than an American style pancake. We were intrigued by the recipe, but being somewhat pancaked out, we decided to explore other items from the story instead, like the mbira, or thumb piano, being played by the little girl in the blue headband, in the cover picture above. We found instructions on Activity TV for making a simple thumb piano with items from around the house, and decided to give it a try. I hot glued a couple of craft sticks to a block of wood (recouped from our catapult), far enough down, so a large bobby pin could touch them, and not reach the end of the block. The original project calls for craft glue, but then there's a drying time. We donned our safety glasses, and cut four pieces from the fronts of bobby pins, each one slightly shorter than the one before it. We taped them in place, in descending order, on top of the craft sticks. Then, I hot glued two more craft sticks over the top of them. We tightened the layers of craft sticks together by pushing thumb tacks through them, trying, but not succeeding, to keep from cracking the sticks in the process. Finally, we bent the paper clips up about forty-five degrees, and our thumb piano was ready to play. The children were pretty impressed with the sound, until I Googled "mbira" for them, and we listened to few clips of the actual instrument being played. The real thing sounds a lot like chimes or bells, ours sounds sort of like dying grasshopper, as T (age 14) describes it. Still, it's been a lot of fun to play, while learning more about the culture of Kenya. It's great to be a homeschooler.

I made all new bulletin boards and posters to go with Investigating Facts in Acts (IFA). I realize that investigating, detectives and secret agents are not a new concept, but I did use the graphics that I could find to create new ideas and printables for the book of Acts and Life of Paul. It all started when I found so many great items for sale this Spring for VBS that had to do with Investigators! I started at Hobby Lobby and my head just filled with all kinds of ideas! Then, Oriental Trading had a lot, so I had even more ideas in my head! Then, Lifeway had their VBS with the Agency D3, and I found some items in their store! Since I thought Investigating Bible Facts is a great idea anyway, I decided to teach the 30 weeks of Acts with this theme. I will have bulletin boards, worksheets and different ideas for this. This post is the bulletin boards and posters I created. While looking around the local teacher's store, I found this new set from Trend Enterprises called Passport To Learning (T-8296). Since I have used passports with Paul and his travels for at least 20 years (☺), I just had to have it! I used the nice title that came with the set and added labels to the passports of the different places that Paul traveled to in the book of Acts. These are the same places that are in the new passports. Some places are listed more than once, but there is just one passport for each. There are a couple of different options for printing for you. Both have extra printables to use for Paul's travels like a ship, Paul and a Roman Soldier, a Bible city, etc. Click here to download the set that is to use with the Trend set above. It includes the labels for the passports in the set. And, labels for the stampers that are inside. The other choice has passports for you to print. They are black & white so you can print onto color cardstock. Click here to download the passport set. This is a scripture Seek & Find. I used scriptures on the magnifying glasses that I refer to a lot while we study Acts. I used the plastic table cloth from Oriental Trading for the background (on top of the white). I like a nice plain background, but thought I'd try something new with this! There are footprints you can cut from black cardstock or construction paper to save ink. I put the IFA letters separate but can be used on the Bible or not at all. Click here to print the Seek & Find Bulletin Board. One of the bulletin boards I made is Who Did It? interactive bulletin board. I have file folders with a photo and the question on the front. There is a pocket glued on the back and a slit on the file folder to hold the answer which is on a notepad and the scripture is on a magnifying glass. There is also a border you can print for this, but I used the Investigating yellow tape I found at Oriental Trading as a border. I know it doesn't look like much from the picture, but the kids commented on this one and said they liked it! The pockets are easy enough to make, but there is a lot of cutting for this bulletin board. But, I will use it for over 30 weeks, and it is a great interactive board. Click here to print everything. This bulletin board is visuals with highlighters as accents. I have used scriptures that are found in Acts that is a repeating theme, and is suitable for early elementary. And that I will refer to during our study in Acts. I realize that other scriptures would be used for adults. Click here to download the Highlights of Acts printables. This is a poster I made that has 'SUSPECTS' that we will be studying about in the book of Acts. With each body shadow, there is the person's name and scripture. I used two poster boards, glued longwise to make one large, long poster. I used the duct tape I purchased at Oriental Trading around the edges. There is a lot of decorative duct tape, or you can use a stamp pad and make thumb prints around the edges. There is a title, center logo and corners for the poster, which can be used a small bulletin board also. Click here to print the Watch List for Acts. While I was making the above poster, I was reading through Acts to find the scriptures , and decided that the scriptures that Paul describes himself to others would make a great poster also. I decided to use the ribbon bulletin board border that I had purchased for a small bulletin board. I had seen this idea to make the ribbon design here, and also the bow design here. I think this ribbon border is pricey, but it was exactly what I was looking for, and I didn't see the price until I got home! So, I really wanted to get a lot of use from it! You can use a wide ribbon (at least 1" wide by 36" long) instead if you like this general idea. Click here to print the All about Paul posters. I also made these Wanted Posters. They are Paul and the men that traveled with him and taught others about Jesus. There is a set of small ones that I used to glue on the wanted poster that you see on the left. You can see the poster here. I purchased it at my local teacher's store. You can download the small posters here. They would also be great to add a snap ring in a corner for each student for review. Or, if you like the full sheet size that you see on the right, you can download the full size set here. I like the Books of the New Testament pennants that I made for VBS this year, so I made Study of Paul in Acts pennants to add to all the new printables. I kept them plain without any extra logos. Click here to see the Books of the New Testament pennants with the directions. Click here to download the Study of Paul in Acts pennants. I also updated the posters that I use for Paul in Acts. These are posters of Paul and who he is traveling with. Also, when Paul is on trial, the order of who he had to go before, etc. It just makes review easier. I had made posters for the Disciples of Jesus, and liked them, so decided to update these too! Click here to print the posters. You can see the original posters here with more ideas on how I used them. You can also see the 12 Tribes posters here. Here are a couple of older posts with bulletin boards for Acts: This one drove me crazy because there is so much on it, but I used it for review each week. I am using some of the parts from it, though, on the Passport to Learning board. I used the scroll, basket, Malta, Paul, etc. See this one here. Click here to see a couple of different ones I used for VBS. Click here to see several more. Scripture taken from the New King James Version®. Copyright © 1982 by Thomas Nelson. Used by permission.
Printable Bible Coloring Worksheets for Kids 4-12: Dot-to-Dot, Color-by-Number, Coloring Sheets, Verse Posters, Coloring Puzzles
It's never too early to start teaching our little ones about the importance of recycling. Help them learn which items they use in everyday life can be recycled and which ones go in the regular trash. Earth Day Recycling Worksheet Answer Key We have provided four versions of the worksheet. Two versions contain a soda cup, which is a little bit more challenging because while many people might think they can be recycled, these 'waxy' paper to-go cups typically cannot be. In the other two versions, we replaced the soda cup with an egg shell, which is much more cut and dry. Also, on two of the worksheets we have replaced the word 'garbage' with 'landfill' because it can be helpful to think about exactly where our trash is going. Regardless of which worksheet(s) you choose to use, we hope they will initiate good classroom discussion about recycling and taking care of our planet. Simply print out a copy of the worksheet for each student and have them cut out the objects at the bottom. There are 6 objects that go in the garbage/landfill and 6 objects that can be recycled. Items included are: an apple core, bag of chips, water bottle, banana peel, metal can, jelly jar, soda can, glass bottles, stack of newspapers, chicken leg, light bulb, soda cup, and an egg shell. Answer keys are provided for each version. Version 2 - Landfill with Soda Cup Version 3 - Garbage with Egg Shell Version 4 - Landfill with Egg Shell

E’ primavera, o almeno vorremmo che lo fosse. Anzi no, volendo esagerare: vorremmo che fosse già estate. E pensando all’estate, il cervello – dimentico dei tristissimi grigi, marroni, neri e toni neutri dell’inverno –
