Supplemental information by Latvian National Museum of Art (© Copyright - by Latvian National Museum of Art - Latvian National Museum of Art) In his largest composition “Refugees”, modernist Jēkabs Kazaks who, “like the old masters, wanted to work hard like a craftsman”, expresses the nations tragedy with true severity. He reveals it as the harsh story of a peasant family driven from their home during the First World War. Like a rock in the vertically formed expressive composition, the mighty figure of the grandfather rises above a low horizon – a symbol of strength; the image of the grandmother radiates the wisdom of the national spirit but the young mother with her suckling infant – the incessant drive of life. The refugees have an inner spite that does not allow them to submit to despair. These people leave an impression of spiritual and physical unbreakability; a single hope smoulders in their hearts – to return to their homeland. This monumental painting is regarded as one of the highest peaks of Latvia’s classical modernism. Your personal visual art print Refugees was created by the artist Jēkabs Kazaks. The piece of art was made with the size: 210,5 x 107 cm and was painted with the techinque oil on canvas. The poster print (canvas material): A poster is a printed sheet of canvas paper with a slight surface texture. The poster print is appropriate for framing your art copy using a custom-made frame. Please keep in mind, that depending on the size of the poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm round about the painting in order to facilitate the framing. Canvas: The canvas print, not to be mistaken with a canvas painting, is a digital copy printed from a UV direct printing machine. A canvas makes a typical impression of three-dimensionality. A canvas print of this work of art will give you the chance of transforming your customized fine art print into a large artpiece. The advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is quite simple to hang the Canvas print without the support of additional wall-mounts. Hence, canvas prints are suited for any type of wall. The glossy acrylic glass print: A glossy print on acrylic glass, which is often described as a UV print on plexiglass, makes your favorite original into lovely décor. Above all, the acrylic glass print makes a great alternative to dibond and canvas fine art replicas. The artwork is being custom-made with the help of state-of-the-art UV direct printing technology. The image effect of this are intense, sharp colors. The great benefit of a plexiglass fine art copy is that sharp contrasts and details become more visible due to the fine tonal gradation. The following novels help a secondary classroom include more voices from around the world that are historically underrepresented in literature, AND they can help broaden the perspectives of students who are trying to understand the world in a very confusing time. These titles vary in length, difficulty, genre (including dystopia!), and level of maturity. Some books are appropriate for middle school, and others have more mature content and would be better in a high school setting.
