Huddled together in the sandbagged bedroom of a bungalow in Dorking, Surrey, the three figures trembled in the darkness. It was the summer of 1944 and the height of Hitler's doodlebug raids, when pilotless aircraft and their signature droning brought terror and destruction to Southern England.
The first of two releases to mark the 150th anniversary of Ralph Vaughan Williams's birth presents two of his major song collections, while bringing to light a substantial number of songs by the composer's student Elizabeth Maconchy. Her works here are almost all unpublished and virtually unknown since their original first performances from manuscript, and span several decades of the composer's career from the time of her studies with Vaughan Williams in the mid-1920s though to her committed espousal of the British modernist aesthetic by the 1960s and 70s. The songs are performed by tenor James Geer and pianist Ronald Woodley in this continuation of their long-standing partnership.

I am producing a set of book cover posters that celebrate some of the finest Classical works of the worlds greatest musicians. This edition commemorates the beautiful piece by Ralph Vaughan Williams called The Lark Ascending. Inspired by George Meredith's poem Williams wrote the piece in 1914, but the outbreak of World War I meant he had to put its premiere on hold until 1921. This wonderful tune is often voted Number 1 in the Classic FM Hall of Fame Chart. Can't find your favourite Classical work? Please contact me and I will happily produce your favourite, be it Bach, Handel or Verdi. The list of great composers is huge and my selection so far is only the tiniest tip of the Classical Music iceberg! Each poster will be printed, lovingly wrapped and securely sealed into a postal tube before being safely delivered to your door! PLEASE NOTE: These posters can be resized to any measurement, please contact me to discuss your requirements. Also each poster can also be purchased separately. An icon of British national identity and one of the most widely performed twentieth-century composers, Ralph Vaughan Williams has been misunderstood as much as he had been revered; his international impact and enduring influence on areas as diverse as church music, film scores and popular music has been insufficiently appreciated. This volume brings together a team of leading scholars, examining all areas of the composer's output from new perspectives, and re-evaluating the cultural politics of his lifelong advocacy for the music-making of ordinary people. Surveys of major genres are complemented by chapters exploring such topics as the composer's relationship with the BBC and his studies with Ravel; uniquely, the book also includes specially commissioned interviews with major living composers Peter Maxwell Davies, Piers Hellawell, Nicola Lefanu and Anthony Payne. The Companion is a vital resource for all those interested in this pivotal figure of modern music.

2022 is the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958). He wrote his Mass in G minor (Curwen edition) after the First World War, at the same time as his Pastoral Symphony. Some believe that it is a way for Vaughan Williams to heal the world to write this beautiful music. Vokalensemblen Sundbyberg presents this new release pairing an internationally renowned composer's large a cappella work with the finest contemporary Swedish a cappella music. Vokalensemblen Sundbyberg (the Sundbyberg Vocal Ensemble) consists of music graduates, choral conductors and experienced choral singers. Central to it's music-making are the importance of breathing, good intonation and passion. The choir aims to promote the development of newly written Swedish choral music for the church by means of commissions and collaborations with composers, and also to increase people's familiarity with lesser-known works, not least those by Swedish composers.
