If you would like to nominate Incidental Comics as a "Best Webcomic of 2011," you can go here to voice your support. No pressure! Thanks to all my high school English teachers for providing the deeply ingrained knowledge behind this comic. And a very special thanks to my proofreaders at the Kansas City Star, who put up with my three consecutive misspellings of "Onomatopoeia." And finally: English teachers and students, past and current - you can get a poster of this comic for your classroom or reading nook here.

This boardgame is aimed for students studying conditional sentences. It's easily adaptable and can be used to practice any of the conditionals. The idea is that the students play in pairs or groups and they have to form a conditional sentence. E.g. "You can have any animal as a pet" -> "If I could have any animal as a pet, I would have a chimpanzee". The teacher can also tell them to form the sentences in the past (If I could have had any animal as a pet when I was a kid...). Obviously the board can be used to practice other things as well, such as verb tenses or vocabulary (e.g. "You can travel to any country" -> pairs list countries and choose the one they'd travel to) or the sentences can even be used as as conversation topics. - ESL worksheets

Next week we will be starting a one-week theme of argumentative speech. On the first lesson you will get to settle on a topic, do some research, write down some ideas and then you should prepare to give a speech on the following lesson. The speech will be recorded on your computer in a private setting and sent to me for assessment - if everything works out well we will also listen to a few speeches together and give feedback on them. Here's a little intro for next week: You can find the plan here + a video illustrating ethos, pathos and logos here:

Limited vocabulary and cultural stereotypes hinder their ability to find and understand their strengths and realize their full potential. In essence: they are fish that are comparing themselves with squirrels. They spend the majority of their
