Als erstes wurden die Hexies ausgelegt, hier und da wieder verschoben und neu angeordnet. Als ich zufrieden war mit dem Farbverlauf, wurden die Hexies mit Textilkleber positioniert und aufgeklebt... Anschliessend mit geraden Linien gequiltet... In diese Textur mit den Dreiecken hab ich mich definitiv verliebt! Auf der Rückseite habe ich diesen "Zahlen"-Stoff von Ik*a benutzt. Schon oft gesehen auf anderen Blog's und nun auch mal ausprobiert. Ich weiss nicht, ob diesen Stoff für einen Gebrauchs-Quilt verwenden würde, doch als Rückseite für einen Wandbehang ist er super... Dieser Quilt ist meiner und daher rutscht dieser Post nun auch rüber zu RUMS. Einen weiteren Modern Hexagon Quilt habe ich hier gemacht... This little quilted pillow is made from a beautiful grandmother's flower garden quilt. I cut around the hexagon shape of the pattern for this. This pretty pastel pink and purple is lovely! The back is vintage matelasse. This is a complete pillow that I have stuffed, it is not just the pillow cover. Measures 13.5" point to point.

Ooops - what can I say? The last time I was here, our boys in black were about to kick off the competition, and now they are about to close it! Guess where I will be come 9 tomorrow night - bring it on!! I had to laugh this morning - the child obviously did not have much to do last night. Instead of spending some quality time with his school books (I have been gently reminding him about a certain event happening in a few weeks time, called exams!!) he clearly decided that my lappie needed a facelift. Normally I have a pretty flowery picture as my screensaver - you know, something to make you smile and think of summery days - well, this morning when I logged on - not a single pretty flower in sight! Instead, an action shot of a mud-covered downhill rider, in full flight. Kinda feels like my lappie has been invaded or hi-jacked or something!! What between a very busy month at the B & B, Jakes downhill race season in full swing, spring gardening and rugby games to watch (of course:) - there 'aint been a whole lot of time for stitching. I did put a few sweet little hexies together for a new cushion for one of the guest rooms - I wanted pretty spring colours.... ...and I made up some little lavender bags, using lavender I had cut from the garden last year, and decorated with a gorgeous little birdie by Barb ... I've done a little more on the cross stitch - Stacy Nash's Tribute to Summer - it sat idle for a few weeks, but now I'm back into it - I pulled a colour out that I didn't like, and feel much happier with the look now. Spring has been keeping me busy - there's more about that over on the cottage blog. The growth is phenomenal and the colours extraordinary. And I so wish you could smell the perfume of the wisteria that is starting to bloom - it's heavenly... We've been all over the place these last few weeks with the child and his bike - up here at Living Springs where he was given the dubious award of ''crash of the day'' - wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry about that one, but both he and the bike miraculously escaped relatively unharmed. What about the views though - it's such an incredibly beautiful part of the country.. ...and down to Bluff for the Secondary School Champs where he did good !! And yes, we did go to the chip shop - how could we not - they are the best:)... This weekend I am delighted that the race is right here in Dunedin - yah!! I am not even going to think about what state he will come home in tonight after practising all day, cos we have had so much rain this week that I'm sure it will be a mud bath and he will be caked from head to toe in the stuff. Time to go - I am trying to decide if I will feel too guilty about sitting down in the middle of the day and doing some more of my cross stitch :)) It's just so lovely and peaceful, and there's no one in at the moment, so who would know:) See you later Jenny

This is a lovely quilt block and really easy to make. You will be cutting triangles with this method but don't run off as this is simple using a quilting ruler that has a 60° line. If you don't have a quilting ruler with a 60° line then you can use your cutting mat and we have a tutorial for that if you need it. At Faerydae Stitches we have a huge passion for slow crafting whether that be embroidery, hand sewing or hand quilting. English Paper Piecing (EPP) is a form of hand sewing that attaches fabric to paper or card templates as a base on which to sew the fabric together. The templates are then removed before quilting. Part of the fun of EPP is discovering the way different shapes join together to form endless number of patterns before you even have to choose your fabric! With this being something that we love to do, it quickly became clear that printable template were something that were limited in the market. Our solution was to create a program that can generate any shape, of any size, then fit as many of them onto a piece of paper so all you need to do is print them out then cut then out. All our shapes come in 12 sizes starting from 0.25 inches to 3.00 inches in 0.25 (1/4) inch intervals. Each sheet gives you a buffer space between each shape allowing for ease of cutting. The download consists of a zip file that will need to be extracted (windows will now automatically give you the option to do this). Once extracted you will have 24 files. 2 for each size, one will be for A4 paper and one for letter paper. These templates are for personal use only and should not be distributed or sold in any way. Wednesday again and this time I have made no flowers, but I figured out how to continue. This is a trial and so I keep it small. My 8 flowers are enough to make a small quilt. First I made a format and then choose a green fabric for the background. I made 20 hexies and positioned them between the flowers.So know I am one step further.

Took train trips to and from Mt Waverley for the Waverley Patchworkers' Exhibition. There were lots of lovely quilts on display, and I managed to get some appliqué done in the train. Here's a small detail shot of one quilt that fascinated me. The full quilt contains over 2,400 pieces, and is double-sided. The design is created from half-hexagons, and is known as Inner City. I'm now trying to work out the trick to putting it together. Do you just have to pin the whole thing up on a design wall, so that you can get everything where it needs to be? Or do you make the individual t-shaped "buildings", then have to do y-seams to assemble the whole thing?
