Thanks for joining me today for the October Papertrey Ink Senior DT Challenge. This time around we are bringing back Autumn Hills! Happy autumn! We've been experiencing a taste of fall weather here in my neck of the woods, and it felt great whipping up a couple cards perfect for the season. My first card showcases the block scene image included in this set. A bit of watercoloring adds the perfect fall colored backdrop. Here's how the look was achieved... I began by attaching my stamp image onto my acrylic block backwards, so that the sold backside was facing out. This allowed me to ink it up with three different ink pads, by first pressing the lightest color all over and then the darker two colors on the edges. I sprayed a bit of water (using a tiny misting spray bottle) onto the stamp, which helped to blend the colors. Then finished the card off with a trimmed sentiment and black Baker's twine. My second card utilizes a couple of the individual images included in Autumn Hills. I used the same water color technique as above to help ground the grouped images and sentiment. Well, that's it from me today. Hope you enjoy this month feature! Now be sure to visit the other Papertrey Ink senior design team girls for more Autumn Hills goodness... Hello friends and visitors! Today I created a card with two challenges in mind, first, the color scheme. This weeks Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger: What a great inspiration pic! I chose the repeated pattern of the brown flowers, the golden yellow and a touch of the orange to create my card. I used the PTI set Flower Fusion 12 stamped in PTI Kraft, Chocolate "Fresh Ink", and Stampin Up's "Summer Sun". Such happy colors! Today I am also playing along with the current challenge at CAS-ual Fridays Challenge # 46 - Name That Tune. The tune I had in mind when creating my card was "Don't Give Up" by Peter Gabriel featuring Kate Bush. I love that song and listen to it often. "Don't give up, cause you have friends....Don't give up, you're not beaten yet..."...sigh....such great lyrics. Anywho, I really hope that you liked my card today and I hope you have a wonderful week!

You knew I would choose a set with a color-able flower, didn't you? When I saw the tulips (or maybe these could work as crocuses too), I knew that the Friendship Jar Spring Fillers set would be on my February wish list. (Besides, I've always loved the Jar sets!) I had so much fun coloring this image that I took a couple of stepped out shots for you. Let's pretend that the front blossom isn't colored in this shot--it occurred to me to take a picture right after I finished the first blossom! This is my green layer, though I went back and cooled down and deepened the shadows later, as you might notice by comparing this shot with the one at the bottom. That Copic BV00 was added in just a couple of shadows above to cool them. And here are the colors that I used in the blossoms,...
Good morning and welcome to the first day of Papertrey Ink's January countdown! I have a set to share with you over the next several days that holds a special significance for me (pardon, but it's going to get real for a quick moment). This set, Words Of Comfort, came about a little over a year ago, after my brother passed away. So many wonderful people sent me cards, or emailed, or gave me a moment of their time and it meant the world. I also had plenty of folks tell me that they didn't know what to say in difficult situations like the loss of a loved one, diagnosis, or general hardship. I've been there, too, and I thought it might be helpful to have stamps available designed to make those tough-to-create cards a little easier. This $15 set includes 17 phrases that can be mixed and matched or used individually for difficult occasions. Some are sympathy, but many of the others simply offer support for someone in need. The fonts I chose are versatile enough to compliment many of the sets you already have in your collection. So now you know a little background. How about we get on to some projects, shall we? My first card today is a sympathy card that uses two of the phrases in the set; one on the front and the other as the message inside the card. I began by impressing my Rustic White card base with the Mighty Oak Cover Plate. This handy little trick makes the leaf placement super easy. Next, I stamped exterior sentiment using Dark Chocolate ink. I die cut my tree trunk from cork and adhered it to my card front in the impressed area. Then, I die cut my leaves from Rustic White cardstock and stamped them with a combination of Ocean Tides, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, and Ripe Avocado inks. I like using cool colors for cards like this because I feel they give a peaceful impression. I also tried to keep my colors in a similar color family to keep the card from getting too busy. I adhered most of the leaves with flat adhesive, but a handful were mounted with foam tape to give the tree a bit of dimension. As a finishing touch, I added a sentiment to the inside of the card, also in Dark Chocolate ink. Let's leave today on a hopeful note, ok? Today's final card does just that. I've been seeing cancer ribbons as the center of butterflies now for awhile and I wanted to try my hand at creating one on a supportive card. You can find a great list of awareness ribbons HERE if you'd like to do something similar for someone in your life. I began by stamping the butterfly from Beautiful Butterflies onto a Mat Stack 5 shape using Autumn Rose ink (though I was careful not to ink the antennae). Next, I stamped the dotted detail from Butterfly Kisses overtop my Autumn Rose butterfly using Scarlet Jewel ink. Then, I stamped the "Sending you hope" sentiment below the butterfly in gray ink. I used a fine point glue pen to add glitter to each of the dots, so my butterfly would be super fancy (it's hard to see in the photos, but the whole thing shimmers). I then added a Sweet Blush twill ribbon in the center of the butterfly and embellished it with a few white self-adhesive pearls. I finished the whole thing off by mounting my focal point panel to a white card base that I textured with the woodgrain impression plate. Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope to see you back again tomorrow as I share more of Words Of Comfort. Make sure to check in with Nichole, Betsy, Danielle, Dawn, Erin, Heather, Laura, Melissa, and Tiffany as they share more projects featuring this month's release. Take care and I'll see you soon! Good Monday morning to you! I hope you had a great weekend. We said reluctant goodbyes to our house-guests Sunday morning, so it's very quiet here today. I have a PaperTrey Ink card to share with you today using Lisa Johnson's On My Couch set, as well as the Polka Dot Basics 2 set. I've also used a Spellbinders Labels Four die and my Copic Airbrush System. I took some stepped out pictures for those of you who are playing with the Copic Airbrush. Patterned papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Early Bird line (Sunrise and Farmer's Market). This card is 4-1/4" square. I stamped the rug in Ocean Tides ink and cut and embossed the labels 8 shape, leaving it in place after embossing to use as a mask. To determine die placement, I set my trimmed couch, stamped in True Black and Pure Poppy, on the rug, also leaving...
I made this card a couple weeks ago...just never got around to putting it on the blog. I was, in part, inspired by the lovely cards that Susan Riahala made when she was inspired by another stamper. I was inspired by the way Erin and Susan used a line of text(script) across the bottom of the card and then put the sentiment over the script. The script I used was by W Plus 9 Design Studio, the sentiment is Inside and Out: Thank You by Papertrey Ink. I stamped a flower( Woodgrain Silhouettes Additions by W Plus 9 Design Studio) and then stamped a second one right next to the first one. I colored with SU markers(Pretty in Pink and Regal rose) and cut out. I thought to attach them and lay them flat on the card, but kinda liked how the petals looked bending off the card, so I left them that way. Popped up and layered on a Regal Rose textured card. Here's a slight side view: Thanks for looking, hope your day is wonderufl!!

Well, it's the final day of the PTI February Countdown, and in today's post Nichole's challenge is to create an interactive card, to tie in to the introduction of the new PTI Movers and Shakers line of dies and stamps! I haven't done too many interactive cards before, but I was eager to try out some ideas, and I managed to get two cards done today (and some laundry, lol!). The first thing I thought of was to use the sweet airplane in Fly Away. I cut it from Stampers Select White and also from a coaster, and after coloring with Copics, adhered it to the coaster for more sturdiness. I attached it through the slit in the background panel, which I created by sponging Summer Sunrise, Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores inks on white cardstock, after applying masks cut with the cloud dies. The panel is attached to the Kraft base with foam adhesive. The plane is attached with a brad, to the sentiment strip cut from Aqua Mist, and stamped with a sentiment from Up, Up and Away. I added the word "pull" on the punched circle using Simple Alphabet, and the "congratulations" sentiment on the front panel is from Tag-Its #4. It doesn't slide quite as smoothly as I was hoping, but the general idea worked out well. :) As the sentiment strip is fully extended, the plane "flies" across the card front. My second card was inspired by the new Movers & Shakers: Sliders dies that Nichole introduced today. I can't wait to get these dies, but I wanted to try to mimic the same effect. Although it worked, it was difficult to "engineer", so I know the dies would make it much more effortless and slick! Anyway, I tried to create the front "window" panel by cutting with my craft knife. It was doable, but it looked very sloppy and not "polished" enough, so I wasn't happy with it. Then I had a lightbulb moment! I used my Tag Sale #1 Die to cut the window panel. I just positioned it on my cardstock, face-down on my Big Kick platform. Then I put the other plate on top of the sandwich, but positioned it so that the edge of it was partway down the die, where I wanted it to STOP cutting. Cranked it through, and voila - a 3-sided window cut! I then trimmed down the panel (I did that AFTER cutting, so that I didn't have to have the die perfectly aligned), and scored at the top and middle. Then I cut the "slider" panel to go underneath. The rest of it is constructed pretty much like Nichole shows in her tutorial video. I used Celebrations for the front sentiment panel. The color combo is Canyon Clay, Hawaiian Shores and Harvest Gold. After I was finished, I wished I had something more with the HS panel.... so I added the twine and button, which helped a bit, but I still think it's a little bit plain. I was trying to keep it masculine-appropriate, though, just because it seems that I have fewer male-appropriate cards in my stash (even thought that's what I usually need - husband, father, brother, sons, lol). I added the button on the tab at the top because I thought it would make it easier to grab and pull, and also more obvious that that is what is expected. Here it is starting to slide open: And completely extended! I stamped the slider with Polka Dot Basics 2, just for a little added interest. The inside sentiment is a combination of Daydreamer, Birthday Basics, and a decorative element from Celebrations. Well, it was fun to try a couple of interactive cards, and it definitely got my creative juices flowing for all the fun that can be had with these new dies! I just know they will make these cards a real breeze to make (and did you SEE the Zippers?? Oh my gosh, how FUN!!) Thanks for stopping by!
bold basics STAMP SET +color block stencils + more PAPERTREY INK: SUMMER PERKS!! Happy Saturday and welcome to a bit more of Papertrey Ink’s June release! Today we are highlighting the newest designs from the oh-so-talented Kimberly Crawford: the Bold Basics stamp set and the coordinating Color Block Stencils! In addition, Papertrey Ink is introducing the third in their Summer promotion series - 'Summer Perks'! With today's Bold Basics/Color Block Stencils release you can purchase this beautiful bundle as part of this special promotion (for a limited time)! Now..... on to the projects! The first is bright and bold, using beautiful yellows, greens, corals and pinks to stencil and create this petite 4.75" card. The sentiments from the Bold Basics stamp set are so versatile and cover all of the bases - birthday, anniversary, thinking of you, etc. and could be considered a great basic 'kit' (much like the Simple Impressions: Celebrations)! AND there's a trio of little stars to accent those clean and simple sentiments. My second project is a little bit more feminine, using the great diamond image - stamped in Pure Poppy and Berry Sorbet, creating a stylish argyle pattern. The pretty blooms from Botanical Bounty II and the perfect sentiment, embossed in white, finish off this lovely 'thank you' card. Project #3 incorporates the single triangle stencil, ink blended in a blue/green/yellow palette to create this simple 'I Love You' greeting (with a tiny Spring Rain heart). And here are a few more miscellaneous projects using the Bold Basics stamps and Color Block stencils! Bright, modern and graphic OR soft and pretty...... Kimberly's designs can do it all! Thanks so much for stopping by and helping to celebrate Kimberly Crawford's fabulous NEW Bold Basics/Color Block stencil release! Welcome back to day #3 of reveals for the June release at Papertrey Ink. Today we are introducing you to Floating By stamps and dies + Floating By: Sentiments stamps set + Pool Water Stencils + Border Bling: Lotty Dotty dies. I have two cards using these fun summer time goodies! The water background stencil is two steps using two different stencils. I used Tumbled Glass and Broken China distress inks. The "floats" have multiple stamping steps which creates such fun results! I love that the sentiments in this set all can be die cut so they don't cover up as much of the background. STAMPS: Floating by, Floating By: Sentiments INK: True Black, Limeade Ice, Simply Chartreuse, Lemon Tart, Bright Buttercup, Harvest Gold, Spring Moss, Honey Nut; Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Carved Pumpkin, Crackling Campfire, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Worn Lipstick distress inks by Ranger PAPER: White, Bristol Smooth Surface DIES: Love to Layer: Notched, Floating By OTHER: Black twine My second card is a bit simpler in design. I combined alcohol inks as the background to the Lotty Dotty die and combined Brusho colours as the background to the pineapple. The pineapple was also die cut from some water color paper colored with Brushos. STAMPS: Floating By INK: True Black, Bright Buttercup, Harvest Gold, Honey Nut, Pinefeather; Alcohol inks; Brusho colours (Sea Green & Turquoise) PAPER: Yupo; Watercolor (Ranger); White DIES: FLoating By, Lotty Dotty SUPPLIES That's a wrap for today! Are you ready for another really awesome release at Papertrey Ink? Manufacturing delays pushed the release to the 25th this month but...better late than never I say! I hope you will love the new products as much as I have! Today we are introducing you to Build-A-Santa stamp set and dies + Just Sentiments: Santa + Ornate Evergreens dies + Feathered Friends 16 dies. Isn't this jolly guy just the cutest?! I created a fun tag but have a confession to make! I apparently have a gremlin in my house and the dies for this set disappeared into thin air with no results after lengthy searching! So...it was back to my roots of fussy cutting. :-( I added enamel dots for the buttons and used a shimmery white embossing powder for his furry trim. The buckle was gold embossed which all adds to the dimensional details. STAMPS: Build-A-Santa, Just Sentiments: Santa INK: True Black, Pure Poppy, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Green Parakeet, Pinefeather, Harvest Gold, Soft Stone, Weathervane, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Lovely Lady. PAPER: White, True Black. DIES: Build-A-Santa. Next up are some really great tree dies that make for a quick and easy holiday card! I "smooshed" distress inks on Bristol Smooth Surface paper then die cut the trees and layered them over Limeade Ice paper. The curved sentiment is from the Holiday Wagon set (to be featured tomorrow) and fits perfectly with the Banner Builders Basics dies! The background has subtle texture and shine with the stamp being heat embossed with shimmer EP. Some moonshine sequins top off the tree! STAMPS: Holiday Wagon (sentiment), Holiday Spirit (background). INK: Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn distress inks; Hawaiian Shores; Versamark. PAPER: LImeade Ice, Hawaiian Shores, White. DIES: Ornate Evergreens, Banner Builders: Basics. OTHER: WOW! Neutral Ultra Shimmer embossing powder; Moonshine sequins. This card is a reverse version of my previous one by cutting the trees from a solid color and layering them over a patterned background - alcohol inks in this case. The gold embossed sentiment and background plus the ribbon and cording pick up on the gold veining in the background colors. STAMPS: Holiday Spirit, Grand Christmas Sentiments. INK: Alcohol inks with gold fixative; Versamark. PAPER: Tropical Teal, White, Metallic Gold. DIES: Grand Christmas Sentiments, Pierced Feature Frames, Border Bling: Tin Stitch, Ornate Evergreens. OTHER: Gold cording, WOW! Metallic Gold Rich Pale Regular embossing powder, Jingle bells. Next is the reveal of the newest in the Feathered Friends die series! He appears to be in flight which is why I didn't "ground" his feet on a branch or other object. He pairs up well with a favorite set from last month's release called Sprigs & Sprays: Holiday. I find it easier to cut all the bird die parts from white card stock then color blend them using brushes. STAMPS: Sprigs & Sprays: Holiday, Effortless Beauties (sentiment). INK: New Leaf, Pinefeather, Fine Linen, Honeynut, Canyon Clay, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise Smokey Shadow. PAPER: FIne Linen, White, Garden Green. DIES: Feathered Friends 16, Pierced Feature Frames, Skinny Frames: Diagonal Border. This was a lengthy post so hope you hung in there! Tune back again tomorrow for more new goodies. ~Wanda SUPPLIES

Hi there! Just stopping in to provide you with a couple more samples of my new stamp set Beautiful Butterflies, which will be available for purchase through Papertrey Ink beginning February 15th.First up, a card featuring a pretty color combo of Pure Poppy, Berry Sorbet and Summer Sunrise (one of my go-to combos). Using a single image from Beautiful Butterflies, I stamped a row along the left side of a Rustic White card base. Stamped a sentiment onto Rustic Cream cardstock, trimmed and attached with dimensional adhesive. Finished the card off with a Berry Sorbet button and a ribbon bow. How about some single layer goodness?! I pulled out a couple of the tiny butterfly images for this one. Here's How: I started by punching a 2" circle from a large Post-It-Note. Placed it onto the Rustic White card base and stamped butterflies around it in Aqua Mist. Removed the punched circle and stamped inside the first butterfly circle with a second butterfly images, using Canyon Clay ink. Here's a tip: When stamping the inner circle, pay close attention to keeping the distance between the inner and outer butterflies the same as you make your way around. Then stamped a larger butterfly within the center of the finished butterfly circles, using Summer Sunrise ink. Finished the card off with stamped sentiments from Think Big Favorites 13# and Lighten Up stamp sets (both available February 15th) using Smokey Shadow ink. That's it for me today! I hope you enjoyed today's projects and don't forget... I'd love to know what you think, so please share! Now, be sure to visit Nichole Heady for peeks at Sweet Spring & Scrambled Eggs. Also, Dawn McVey, Lisa Johnson, Beth Silaika & Melissa Bickford have peeks to share with you of their newest sets for the month. Thanks for stopping by! Maile Supplies used for both cards... It's Day 4 of the June Release Countdown and today's group post is going to be FUN! I love love this set and I have a couple of cards to share. Our challenge was to create 2 cards. One using the Ombre set just for that...an ombre background. The next card was to be made using an image in a different way than intended. This first card uses Pure Poppy, Berry Sorbet and Sweet Blush. I stamped the image 5 times and then cut it out just so the ends of the image would be cut down. I matted it with a with background. then I popped it up on another piece of white card stock and then....attached all that on to a white card base. I love all the layers and the popped up section. It is fun for a little dimension. Last, I added in a sentiment from the new Wet Paint dies.....I may have squealed a little when I saw these dies in the box! LOVE! This next card is super CAS and so easy! I used one of the ombre images for what I thought would like cute little hills.... I added in a sentiment from Topiary Trio and then the little flowers and stems from an older set called Just Smile. Easy peasy! I can't wait to see all the other Ombre cards. Here are some stops to make to see more using this fun new set... Can I just say....I Love Papertrey Ink!! They are a company that I first "met" by seeing Susan Riahala's(LateBlossom on SCS and Simplicity blog) use of their stamps on her wonderful and amazing cards!! Now, countless stamp sets and dies later...well...I LOVE them!! I just got the Onesie die that I had been waiting for(out of stock) since the beginning of July. I first learned of this die on Maile Belles site Simply Stamped ...another artist whose work I think is amazing and wonderful...and these cards are, aside from color and stamping the animals(the stamped animals have hearts on their behinds:)!!) instead of using dies(were still out of stock, but are back in now:)!!), exact cases of her lovely cards...how can you improve on perfection?? Ok....I know I've used this word a lot in this paragraph, but I Love these baby cards...toooooo cute...thanks Maile for your creative inspiration:)!! I used the Onesie dies, the linen textured plate, Sweet Baby, Mixed Messages and Mega Mixed Messages stamp sets all things PTI. I used Papertrey Ink white paper and Stampin Up ink: Pretty in Pink, Ballet Blue, More Mustard and So Saffron. I added a little white stick on heart from EK Success. The bows were made with Bow Easy and held on to the card with a sticky dot. Thanks for looking, hope you have a great day!!

Hello there. Hope you're having a great week so far. Today the Papertrey Ink design team members are showing off the new Doodlie-Do stamp set and have been asked to create two cards using different techniques. For my first card,...
I have three of the stamp sets featured on the Papertrey Ink blog for 2008. After much debate, I decided to use Floral Frenzy. I was inspired by Michelle Leone's card where she used one of the patterned circles to create a graphic design. The leaf image in the set caught my eye, so I created my own graphic-style background. I stamped the leaf image using Tropical Teal and Tuxedo Black inks in an interlocked design on white cardstock. I matted the piece with True Black cardstock and then adhered it to a Tropical Teal card base. The color is actually a bit more green than my picture shows. In real life, it's a rich teal. I cut two black leaf silhouettes using a die, doubling them for extra thickness. I stamped the hello image on white cardstock and punched it out with a 7/8" circle punch, matting it with a black 1" circle so it would stand out better from the background. Finally, I stamped a sentiment directly on the card base just above the pattern. Simple, but striking! Go here to see other cards for the 2008 Papertrey Ink celebration. Stamps: Floral Frenzy (Papertrey Ink) Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento); Tropical Teal (Papertrey Ink) Paper: White, Tropical Teal, True Black (Papertrey Ink) Misc: Leaf Silhouettes die (Papertrey Ink); 7/8" and 1" circle punches (EK Success)
