I can't believe it's the last day of September - where did this month go?? This is another die I really like, the Smile Circle from Simon Says Stamp. It can be used for so many different occasions! On white cardstock, I stamped the brushed images in Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist ink. Smile is die-cut three times in Hawaiian Shores cardstock, stacked and glued together. I stamped "it's your birthday" under it in black ink. To help take away some of the whiteness of the card, I added a thin strip of black pattern paper at the top and bottom. It also helps to bring out the black sentiment. Another quick and easy card! (the clothespin is only there to hold the card together!) Hello friends. Day 8 at Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Celebration is a color challenge...I love color challenges!! I chose to work with Betsy's color combination...totally LOVE these colors together!! And because I can't seem to get enough of Betsy's little birdies in her Brushed Birds set, I went with a floral theme using the Beautiful Berries: Spring and the little birdies together with the above color combo. I used the Brushed Off Rectangle die first and blended Aqua Mist onto it, and then added the berry sprig in the Green Parakeet, Winter Wisteria, & Royal Velvet, and the birds in Aqua Mist and Tropical Teal. Because I'm still trying to ramp up my birthday card stash, the sentiment from the Beautiful Berries: Spring worked perfectly! It's our last day of Group Posts for the December Papertrey Ink Release. Today's post is all about Love. :) We are showcasing the new sets called Be Mine, Valentine and the new Valentine Pin-Up Kit. These first 2 cards show how to use the Be Mine, Valentine set in 2 ways. One Birthday card, followed by the Valentine Card.... On this first card, I used the Brushed Off stamp set along the side of the card in rainbow order. Next, I took 3 of the Scribble dies and attached them to the base of the card. I added in the camera from the Be Mine set, along with the Smile die from the Wet Paint III set and a sentiment from the Give Me a Hand set. This next card is basically the same layout but for Valentines day. I stamped the camera in Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus Burst and then stamped the sentiment from Be Mine along the bottom. These next 2 projects showcase the Valentine Pin-Up set. I have one Valentine and one birthday. This first one is a simple clip made with the paper pack included in the kit. I added in a vellum tag dipped in gold glitter and clipped up a heart tag from the set, along with some curled up, scrappers floss. This next one is the same basic project but with this paper pack being so very versatile, it is easy to make a little gift for any occasion. I cut the heart tag that I used above from vellum and then cut the same tag from above in Hibiscus Birthday paper. I dipped it in gold glitter too, after stamping the sentiment from Ballerina Beauty. I added in a little curled up black scrappers floss here too. Looking at this photo, the floss looks a little crazy, but in person its a fun little curled ribbon look. lol! So that is it for today. I've tried this partial die cutting before, with less (waaay less) than acceptable results. However, I was bound and determined to figure this out, and even managed some success on my first try. Not perfect, but acceptable! Still obsessed with the Brushed Blooms, as you can see!

Welcome to the first group post for Papertrey's August release. This release is filled with all sorts of autumn elements, which I'm beyond thrilled about, as it's my favorite season, both in general and for crafting. Today, we are featuring a unique brushstroke stamp set called Brushed Off, along with two beautiful foliage dies, Branching Out and Leaf Silhouettes. Today's featured products, along with the rest of the August release, will be available at 10 pm EST August 15 in the Papertrey Ink store. I had so much fun with today's projects! There's no single "right" way to use the Brushed Off images, which opens all kinds of doors for creative stamping. For my first card, I created a polka dot background by first stamping the partial circle brushstroke in one color, then rotating the stamp 180 degrees and stamping a second color right on top. The combos I used were: Raspberry Fizz with Summer Sunrise, Spring Moss with Ripe Avocado, Enchanted Evening with Plum Pudding, and Canyon Clay with Pure Poppy. In keeping with the artsy look of the brushstrokes, I doodled a black circle around each polka dot. Loved that look so much (it reminds me of the super cool doodling that Ashley did HERE) that I added some more polka dots using a small scribble circle from the Circle Scribbles stamp set as well as some black splatter. The finishing touch was a pattern of luxe gold adhesive Leaf Silhouette die-cuts. I know, it's kind of busy, but I like it! To keep the focus on that crazy background, I opted to downplay the sentiment. I stamped a sentiment from Scripted onto a scrap of Fresh Snow Linen cardstock, notched one end to make a banner, and stitched the other end to the card base. STAMPS: Brushed Off, Circle Scribbles, Scripted DIES: Leaf Silhouettes INK: True Black, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, Enchanted Evening, Plum Pudding, Canyon Clay, Pure Poppy PAPER: white card stock, Fresh Snow Linen card stock, Luxe Gold Adhesive Sheets OTHER: Heidi Swapp Black Velvet Color Shine For this next card, I stamped the narrow rectangle brushstroke image in different shades of oranges and yellow to create kind of an ombre effect. I varied the horizontal placement of the image each time for a more irregular look to the stroke lengths. To get the gilded look, I used a stamp positioner to stamp a second impression of each brushstroke, this time just dabbing a bit of VersaMark ink to the tips of the brushstrokes and then heat embossing in gold. I think the touch of gold just gives the whole background a little more shazam. I also flicked on some water droplets over the stamped brushstrokes (and sort of wish I hadn't). I have a feeling Branching Out is going to become a go-to die very quickly. I love the large size and full branches, and I also love that you can easily trim off a branch or two to reduce the size, or even trim off a branch to use by itself. Originally I was planning to stamp a sentiment in the bottom right area of the card base, so I trimmed off the lower right branch to make room. (I changed my mind on the sentiment, but kept the altered die-cut, thus the missing branch.) The die-cut "you" was cut with a Scripted die, then coated with Glossy Accents for some shine. The stamped portion of the sentiment was done with the Scripted stamp set. This is the picture we're supposed to use as inspiration for this month's challenge. When I first looked at the picture, the yarn hanging in the front of the table reminded me of PTI's new Brushed Off stamp set so that's what I used for my card. On white cardstock, I stamped the five ink colors (Morocco, Tangelo, Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold, Lemon Tart) to create an ombre look, stamping the images at different lengths. I added the sentiment stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. I cut the stamped panel to 4" x 5.25", backed it with craft Fun Foam and adhered it to a white cardstock card base. I really like the dimension this adds to the card by doing this! I can't believe its Anniversary month over at Papertrey Ink! This marks Papertrey's 9th Anniversary (and my 2nd Anniversary with PTI too!). We have LOTS of fun stuff coming up this week and I hope you will join me each day, as PTI shares a new challenge for you to participate in and also, new goodies to see! When I think back on this last year, I can think of so many fun things that stand out but this memory stands out the most.... This year has been such a fun year! February also marks my 2 year anniversary with Papertrey Ink and what a blessing it has been! I have so many great memories over the past 2 years, but what stands out this year is Stamp-a-Faire. Thinking back on how I "attempted" to dance to the Vogue music video, still makes me laugh. I remembered freezing up in front of the camera and I couldn't get myself to move! I want to wish a very Happy 9th Anniversary to Papertrey Ink and everyone behind the scenes! I picked my favorite card of 2015 from the March release. This color combo is one of my favorites! Here is the color combo for my card.... And here is my new card using these same colors.... I used the Twig Wreath Die to create the flowers and leaves on this card. I took each of the 3 sizes of flower dies and pressed a stylus down in the center of each and then glued them all together. I did the same thing with the leaf dies, so they would have a little dimension. I also added some Copic highlights to each leaf. The center of each flower is a dot of black liquid enamel. I stamped the "Thank You" sentiment on one of the stripes from the Cover Plate: Stripes Horizontal. To place these stripes, I used this technique with Press n Seal. Five things I'm looking forward to this weekend: 1. Traveling with 39 women from my church to Minneapolis. (We actually left yesterday -- it's a long weekend!) I get to be the hostess for the trip: make introductions, review our agenda, lead games, pull names for door prizes, etc. 2. Shopping at the Mall of America and the outlet stores with my best friend. 3. Going out for meals -- read: no cooking! 4. Attending the Women of Faith conference on Friday night and Saturday all day. Then, we'll board the bus to come home. 5. Driving to St. Francois Xavier on Sunday afternoon to watch Austin perform in the Central Manitoba Youth Choir. It should be a wonderful concert! And before I go, here's the card I made for our bus driver: I stamped on a Songbirds leaf diecut with PTI's Brushed Off stamp set. The sentiment is from SSS's Many Thanks stamp set. Good morning, friends! Are you ready for Day 3 of the Papertrey Ink August countdown? Today is the first group post and we're sharing a look at the new Brushed Off stamps. I'm head over heels for this set! It's such a wonderful way to add artistic flair to your projects while maintaining a little control and keeping the painty mess to a minimum. I'm still getting my sea legs when it comes to some of the more paint-based techniques that have become popular recently, so Brushed Off strikes a great balance for me. Let's get to it! I began my first card thinking about beautiful autumn leaves. I paired Brushed Off with the Leaf Silhouettes dies to create delicate "painted" foliage. I started by die cutting the leaves from Rustic White cardstock. Then, I stamped several of the images in the set in random patterns using Terra Cotta Tile, Canyon Clay, Harvest Gold, and Summer Sunrise inks. Next, I coated the surface of each leaf with a clear Wink Of Stella pen to add shimmer and blend the colors together a bit. I adhered the base of the leaves to a Classic Kraft card base that I'd stamped with an image from Modern Wood Mats and a sentiment from Pumpkin Patch, curving them outward slightly. I finished with a handmade Terra Cotta Tile Button that I'd embellished with a Rustic Cream Button Twine bow. I love the simplicity. It really allows the multicolored leaves to pop. My next card uses the Brushed Off stamps as a stylized sky backdrop. I began by stamping the largest Brushed Off image onto a white card base with Aqua Mist ink. It almost looks like the sky is falling, doesn't it? I kind of love that. Then, I layered it with a die cut panel that I'd stamped with this month's Keep It Simple: Home sentiment. I tucked the Simply Chartreuse Branching Out shape into the circular opening, fluffing out some of the leaves and keeping a few tucked. I die cut, stamped, and colored one of the bird houses from Little Bitty Bird Additions and added it to the branch with a piece of waxed cord. Inside the card, I stamped a Tucked In: New Home sentiment, embellishing it with another of the Brushed Off images. I like that the brushstroke image carries the design to the inside a little bit, rather than leaving the sentiment nekkid. I have another Scribbled Sentiments card to share with you today, too! This one's a valentine. I began by die cutting the Cover Plate: Hearts shape from white cardstock. I stamped the Scribbled Sentiments images in the solid space and layered it onto a piece of new patterned paper (more on this later) using foam tape. I embellished with a handful of pinky-red enamel dots. Quick and easy! My final card today is all about Haunted Headstones and the coordinating Sentiments set. I began by creating hills from Simply Chartreuse cardstock using the In The Meadow and Sentiment Splits dies. I heat embossed my sentiment on the front panel with white powder and then added texture to each hill with an Ombre Builders strip. I mounted the hills to a mini card base with strips of coaster board. I didn't want as much height as foam tape would offer, so the coaster board was a perfect alternative. Next, I die cut three of the tombstones from Haunted Headstones and stamped them with the coordinating headstone images. Then, I added the "old-age" epitaphs from Haunted Headstones Sentiments using Versafine Onyx Black (it doesn't bleed and that's a good thing for the tiny type in this set). Obviously these sentiments wouldn't be ideal for everyone, but some folks may get a giggle (I can think of a few people that would love these). Know your audience. I attached the headstones to the card front with more coaster board and embellished with tiny flower clusters from Bitty Bouquets and Garden Variety II. The little pops of color keep the card from looking too bland. That's it for me today! Hey there crafty friends! I have a fun post today....Group Post #1 for the August PTI Release. The sets and dies that we are showcasing today may be in my list of new favorites. They are so fun and so very versatile! To start us off, I have a card using the new die called Branching Out and the new stamp set called Brushed Off. To make this card, I inked up one of the Brushed Off images in rainbow order. Each time, instead of blotting the ink pad, I "swiped" the ink pad across the stamp to give it a brushed look. These images are so much fun! I can't wait for you to see the whole set. I added in Keep it Simple: Thinking of You in black, along with a strip of True Black card stock. I added in the Branching Out die in vellum over the top.... Another new die called Leaf Silhouettes will be available in this August release. I LOVE this die. First, I took a Fresh Linen card base and added in a sentiment from Twig Wreath. I cut the leaf in white card stock first and then stamped one of the Brushed Off image onto the leaf. I cut the outline of the leaf in Gold Foil Adhesive paper to give it a little shine. And that is it! Super Simple! I can't wait to see what the other girls have for us today. Hi there crafty peeps! It's time again for Papertrey Ink's Throwback Thursday! It's when the design team features older stamps and dies and gives them new ideas and flair! Today's Throwback Thursday features the cool artsy stamp set called Brushed Off. It's comprised of pretty paint brush strokes in lines and circles. Perfect to make 'artsy' cards and to make cool backgrounds. So many possibilities with this set! I decided to go with a rainbow theme for today - since all I've been posting is Christmas lately! Some fun colors with a St. Patrick's Day theme for the Color Throwdown Challenge Blog this week. I actually don't have any shamrock images, so I went with some "grapes..." Used PTI's "Beautiful Berries" set to make my "grapes." The sponged background was created by using PTI's "Brushed Rectangles" die, cutting it out, then using the negative image as a stencil. Stamped a main branch that I die cut, then added some berries to the cardfront itself, and dotted on some Glossy Accents. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts clear set called "You're So Lovely." I should stamp with purple ink more often, it's so pretty! It's not a color I reach for, which is weird because my childhood room was purple and yellow (my fave colors :)).

Happy Thursday! I have a card to share today for this month's PTI Blog Hop Challenge! For my card I focused on several of the elements in the inspiration photo. I started with some soft stone bitty big pattern paper. I chose the large plaid pattern which I die cut using the largest of the stitched rectangle dies. To this I added the Mix and Mat: Pretty Brackets die. I stamped this frame using harvest gold, sweet blush, aqua mist, and spring rain inks Background Basics: Celestial Skies to mimic confetti. Next, I die cut and stamped the dogwood branch from Warm Regards stamp set. . I love this set! I used PTI pale peony, hibiscus burst, berry sorbet, simply chartreuse, green parakeet, and prairie grass inks. I layered two of the die cut sprigs for added dimension and stability. Next, I add PTI spiral notebook page die in kraft and stamped repeatedly with the "happy birthday" from Birthday Strings Mini stamp set using PTI kraft ink. I added a die cut from Doily details die in aqua mist bitty big pattern paper. I just had to add a couple of the small Brushed Birds stamp set. I die cut and stamped both using PTI harvest gold, bright buttercup, and a touch of saffron spice for one and spring rain and blueberry sky for the other. I die cut the sentiment strip using Wine Bottle Tag #2 die and stamped the sentiment from Never Enough Birthday stamp set. I finished my card with a few clear sequins. I am also playing along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge! I used the top row! As always thanks so much for hopping by! Betty
Playing along with this week's lovely color combination at Color Throwdown and an adorable sketch by Kim Singdahlsen at Freshly Made Sketches! I was so excited to get my new "Brushed Birds" set from Papertrey Ink this week! It was perfect for both of these challenges, and I loved the color combination of light blue, white, and kraft with them! Used PTI's Woodgrain Impression Plate and a heart die from the Shakers and Sprinkles Kit to cut the heart. Added a branch cut with a Memory Box die, and a sentiment on vellum from PTI's "Love Lives Here." It says "Home is where the heart is." :) The snowflake panel is made using a technique of Jennifer McGuire's called "Reverse Die Impressions" shown HERE. It is SO easy after watching the video and the results are beautiful and impressive. Love this video! I used PTI's "Silver White Winters" snowflake dies for my card. I think you will be seeing a lot of these birds, they are so cute and fun to stamp! I was waiting all week for the set to arrive, just like a kid at Christmas :)!

Today is release day at Papertrey Ink, and that means all of the new release stamps and dies we've been showing you are going to be available for purchase at 10pm EST tonight. I'll show you a few more things I've made. Here I've used the new Retro Style Graduation stamps with the Block Alphabet die with several colors of cardstock to add a fun, colorful congrats sentiment! Getting the alphas straight would have been more time consuming, so I opted to go with a fun random look this time. It's not as perfect as I wanted it to be, but it will do! It's handmade, right? Some colorful scraps for your beautiful Sunday morning... :) Congratulations Grad card: (All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.) STAMPS: Retro Style Graduation INK: True Black PAPER: White cardstock DIES: Block Alphabet die OTHER: twine. ______ Next is a little card set with Brushed Blooms, but I also added in Sentiment Splits (so happy for you) and Noted (chevrons) on the first one. The chevrons from Noted were stamped on the edge of the paper to create a stripe, then I popped up the top panel for dimension. (The flower is popped up also.) The background was stamped with Brushed Blooms with Aqua Mist ink on watercolor paper, and then I used a paintbrush and water to smooth it out a bit and blend it. I love how it adds a "shadow effect" to the flower. A sentiment from Sentiment Splits finishes it off. Happy For You card: (All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.) Half of the flower was added to the top of the oval frame and half to the bottom. The frame, birthday sentiment and stripes were made with You've Been Framed: Oval stamps and dies. Do you like the background? I did some "smooshing" with a gray watercolor paint onto Linen Cardstock with very little water. I added the watercolor paint to a stamping block and flattened it onto my card, and then when I dragged the stamping block across the Linen cardstock, I achieved this pretty cross hatch effect! It is cut with the new Sentiment Splits: Angle Vertical die. You can't see it all that well in the photo, but the paper is trimmed at an angle and popped up off the card, and I stamped "cake" inside underneath in the opening with Melon Berry ink. I used an exacto knife to trim around the inside frame a bit, then tucked in a Enclosed: Graduation die (hat). The tassel was trimmed out of the Luxe Gold Adhesive Sheets and popped up a bit for dimension. On the front, I used Keep It Simple: Graduation and Enclosed: Graduate stamps. Hey there! I'm back today for the final day of the January Papertrey Ink countdown. Everything you've seen peeks of will be available tomorrow! And today I bring you one more sample of Boho Rounds, one of my new design for this month. I would have loved to have had more to share with you this release week, but life has been so crazy busy around here. Here I've inked the half circle in gold ink and stamped it twice to make a complete round. Check out that shine! I trimmed a small triangle corner from Luxe Gold cardstock and then finished the card off with a Smokey Shadow die cut "hello" from the Super Swoosh die collection. I stapled it all into place using a Tiny Attacher stapler. Well, that finishes up this months release for me. It's that time of the month when my sweet friend Marcia and I post our cards for our monthly challenge. We were both so enamored by the colors used in the new card kit that MFT came out with and we both missed the boat on purchasing the kit, so we decided to do the best with what we had and re-create our own cards using similar colors. Here is a sampling of the colors used in the kit I don't have many MFT colors of cardstock so here's a list of what I used: MFT's Berrylicious, PTI's New Leaf, Winter Wisteria, Neenah Desert Sand and from Stampin' Up, Tempting Turquois and Eggplant. Today the challenge at PTI is..........Grab & Craft! Check it out HERE This is what it is all about in their words. Since we introduced the return of the Grab Bag today, we thought it would be fun to do a "Grab & Craft" challenge! So, set a timer for 5 minutes and *grab* supplies for your project. Don't think about it too much, just grab what inspires you! But don't grab too much! You need to utilize everything you grab to create a project! I quickly grabbed my favorite color card stock and a die that I already had cut. A few inks, and another background stamp. Here goes! A quick post, Hubby wants to go out for coffee. I never say no. Ingredients: GKD Jellybean Green and White ard stock PTI stamp Brushed Off and Scene It Celebration Dies GKD ink, Fresh Asparagus, Jellybean Green, and Memento Pear Tart. Hello friends. Michelle Leone is up for this week's Make It Monday challenge, and she is showing us how to add LOTS O' DOTS to add dimension to our cards this week. I have 2 cards to share with you today...using Nuvo Drops for dimensional dots is very addicting!! LOTS of DOTS going on in this card! Between the Amethyst Allure Bitty Big DSP, the Shape Shifters: Circle 2 die, the berries from Beautiful Berries: Winter set, and the Nuvo Drops, there are all kinds of dots on my card! I had a lot of fun blending my colors too for the chubby little birds from the Brushed Birds set. I know they're not too realistic looking, but they sure are cute!! Here you can see the blending a bit better and my sentiment is from the Banner Style set. My 2nd card was inspired by last week's Throwback Thursday (or maybe it was the Thursday before that...) and Lexi Daly's cards using the In Bloom stamp set. You can check out Lexi's cards HERE. I loved Lexi's CAS approach to using this stamp set and had to try one for myself! I used the Quatrefoil Cover Plate die to make a stencil and then lightly stenciled my background using Smokey Shadow ink. I embossed my flowers and leaves in black, and then water colored them with Aqua Mist reinker and Smokey Shadow ink for the leaves. After they dried, I fussy cut them out and adhered them to my stenciled background. I added my sentiment from the In Bloom set, and then added quite a few Silver Lining Nuvo Drops all around the card. Check out Micelle's BEAUTIFUL cards and her video right HERE.
