Corfe Castle Dorset . My first ever visit to this icon . i arrived in pitch black & freezing cold then stumbled my way to a central position about halve way up the hill , i thought this thistle would make a reasonable lead in and waited until this unusual sunrise appeared , there was big colourful bands of cloud and colour through out the sky it framed the castle in a pleasing way . After this i made my way further up the hill , to my surprise there were three other togs lurking behind there tripods one being a Flick contact George Edwards , had a pleasant chat with him then went in to the village for a well deserved fry up . Most of us find architecture fascinating. The built environment around us reflects the history and culture of a place that can shape our experiences and perceptions of an area. However, not all the buildings stand the test of time and many are left to decay. For some, they become unwanted ghosts of the past; for others, they are objects of mystery and awe.

Aerial view of the castle from Knight Frank & Rutley's 1995 sale brochure for the 30,000 acre Dunbeath Estate. The present day building looks to me to be early 17th century with David Bryce Victorian additions. There's a nice reconstruction of the castle in 1400 here.
