Aren't these cute? Post It Note and Pen Holders are one of my favourite gift items to make. Especially at Christmas time. These little cuties make great stocking stuffers or hostess gifts and sell quickly at craft and vendor fairs. People can't resist them, after all everyone uses Post It Notes in some shape or form. Another thing I like about making Post It Note holders is that they're adaptable for any season and they're quick and easy to make. Anyone can make these! Today I'm going to walk you through the easy steps and show you some samples from my recent Christmas theme Post It Note & Pen Holders. Enjoy! Supplies and Accessories: Small mini gel pens ( I buy mine at Staples - 12 to a package for $3.95) Post It Notes (I'm using 3 x 3 post it notes for these holders) Card stock cut to 3 1/4 x 7 3/8" for the base a contrasting card stock measuring 2 7/8 x 3 1/8" for the first layer and a neutral card stock measuring 2 3/4 x 3" for the next layer Designer Series Paper in two coordinating designs enough to punch out four 1 1/4" squares 1 1/4" Square Punch Stamp Set of your choice or embellishment for center of cover Ink to coordinate with DSP and card stock Paper Trimmer Adhesive - Snail and Sticky Strip Steps to Create Post It Note Holder: 1. Cut card stock for base to measure 3 1/4 x 7 3/8", score at 3 1/8, 3 1/2 and 3 7/8 inches. 2. Crease along each score line with a bone folder. Fold cover on the 3 1/2 score line. 3. Make two cuts to the score line about an inch apart for the pen holder.See picture for placement. 4. Open up the card stock and leave the slot for the pen facing outwards but push the two outer pieces to the inside of the cover. Apply two small strips of sticky strip to the inside score line between the 3 1/2 and 3 7/8 lines and then fold to the back to adhere. 5. Attach the Post It Note pad to the back cover with sticky strip, and decorate the front of the cover in whatever design you choose. Here's two of my recent designs: For this Post It Note and Pen Holder I used Smokey Slate for the card base, Coastal Cabanna for the 1st layer (2 7/8 x 3 1/8") and Whisper White for the next layer (2 3/4 x 3") and adhered them to the front of the note holder. I cut out four 1 1/4" DSP squares from the Winter Frost DSP Stack #132183 and adhered them to Whisper White layer, leaving a space in between the squares. I adhered a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper cut to 2 3/4 x 1/4" in the center between the squares. For the embellishment I cut out two of the small snowflakes with the Festive Flurry Framelits #132193 - one was stamped in Smokey Slate on Whisper White with the Festive Flurry stamp set #131781 and the other was cut from Silver Glimmer paper. These snowflakes were glued together with glue dots and then mounted to the center of the DSP squares with Stampin' Dimensionals. I matched up the colour of the mini gel pen with the card stock. This Post It Note and Pen Holder is made the same as the above sample, but with the following changes: I used Real Red card stock for the base and topped it with a piece of Gumball Green card stock (1st layer). I added Whisper White for the next layer and topped this with four squares punched from the Season of Style DSP Stack #132181. Red Glimmer Paper was adhered to the center. I stamped the Santa image from the Tag It stamp set #130303 for the tag in Gumball Green and Real Red inks. Tip: I stamped two tags, one in Gumball Green and the next in Real Red and then I cut out the Real Red Santa square and glued it to the Gumball Green base. The tag was cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelit dies and mounted to the note book base with dimensionals. I matched up a red gel pen to the notebook cover. Here's what the inside of the Post It Note Holder looks like.
Happy Tuesday My Blogger Friends! My blog post for today is '3D TUESDAY'. That means today I have a fun little 3-D project that I created and want to share with you. This project was SO FUN to create .... and I want to jump right in and share that project with you now. I was looking to make a gift for a friend ..... And thought ..... Who doesn't need a post-it-note holder for their desk. I started with a Night of Navy base that was 4-1/4" x 11". It is scored at 5-1/2". For the base bottom, I used a 4" x 4" piece of Night of Navy. That piece is scored at 1/2", 2" and 3-1/2". And for the post-it-note pocket .... That is another piece of Night of Navy. That piece is 4-1/2" x 5-1/2" and that piece is scored on the 5-1/2" side at 2-1/2" and 3". And then on the 4-1/2" side it is scored at 1/2" and 4". I decorated the front and pocket of my holder with some 'Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper'.... And before I adhered down my pocket DSP .... I wrapped some 'Night of Navy 3/8" Ribbon' around that piece and tied it up into a pretty bow. My sentiment is from the 'Go To Greetings' and that was matted to the top of my holder. And there you have it. What do you think my friends!!!! Thanks for joining me today! I'll be back tomorrow to share a Wine Down Wednesday card with you ........ Hope you can make plans to stop back and join me for that share. Keep Living Your Dream!
I had a stack of cute little post it notes and mini markers leftover from a class from long ago. I decided to recover several of them to try to sell at the festival this past weekend. I will never do another craft booth, especially an outdoor one. I whipped up new items for this booth, trying to use up leftover class supplies. Perhaps I should have just sold them all as is, dollar store items for 50c each without wasting my time to alter them.......... I had to "give away" the few things that were sold at the festival just to get them to move. For example the above post it note holders were not selling for $1 (they were packaged nicely in cellophane bags, I had one out as a sample so people could see it), but when I marked them down to 50c the last hour I was there, I sold all but three ! Same with the bath sets, once they were marked down to $2 at the end of the day, all but one sold ! I was surprised that three of the photo clips sold with no problem for $2, the red and black one came back home with me, and all of the covered notebooks with stretchy bookmarks were bought by three women, they loved them at $2 each (originally priced at $3). The automobile and snowflakes notecubes in organdy bags sold for $3 each, but I have three leftover because even at $2 at the end of the day no one was interested. I've done a few craft booths with hand stamped items over the years and have never had luck. "I can do that myself" , "I wouldn't pay that for those when I could get something similar to it for $1 everyday", "I have a Demonstrator/I am a Demo myself", etc. Far too much work (although I do enjoy crafting!) for no profit and no leads. So, enough of my whining - time for the project: Mini Post It Note holder - You will need a piece of card stock or heavyweight decorative paper 3" x 7". Stamp and decorate as desired. Score on the back at 2 1/2", 3", 5 1/2" and 6". Fold along the score lines. Use a corner rounder or decorative edge punch on the front flap if desired. Cut two pieces of magnets (I used lightweight advertising magnets, a great way to repurpose them); adhere with sticky strip under the front flap and to the front of the cover to close it. Tie a pretty piece of ribbon around it or add extra embellishments for a pretty post it note and ink pen holder. Thanks for looking !

Hi Everyone, A quick and easy project today, pretty little post it note pads to sit on your desk, by the side of the phone or in your handbag or to give as teacher gifts, co-worker gifts or thank you gifts. They take minimal amounts of card and dsp so great for using up scraps too. Check out what Donna and Victoria have made today, the links are at the end of my blog. Let me show you how I made these, you can also check out the video tutorial over on my YouTube channel, click on the link below: My YouTube video Materials 1 piece of card stock 3 1/4" x 8" (You can get 3 of these from one sheet of A4, I've used bumblebee and magenta madness) 1 piece of dsp 3" x 1", 3" x 2 7/8" and 3" x 2 7/8" (You can get 2 lots from 1 sheet of 6 x 6) Velcro dot Multipurpose adhesive Trimmer Simply scored Bone folder 3" x 3" post it pad Decoration if required Instructions On the long side, score the card stock at 2", 2 3/8", 5 1/2" and 5 7/8", fold and burnish all the score lines. This holder folds around the post it pad, so decide which end of it will be the bottom flap and add the 1" strip of dsp to that closest to the fold but with a small border all the way round the bottom and sides. Add the 1 7/8" strip to the other end, this will be the top flap - make sure you have the direction of the paper going in the right way. Then adhere the largest piece to the back. Add glue to the back of the post it pad and position inside close to the fold lines top and bottom but with a border either side. Fold up the bottom flap and fold down the top one. Add a velcro dot to the underside of the top flap and put the other side of it on the top of it. Then close the folder and press down on the velcro dot. The other side of it should now have transferred to the bottom fold of the holder. You can decorate the outside of these in lots of different ways, see my photos for some examples or you can leave them plain, it's up to you, the possibilities are endless.
