She did a masterful job painting a beach scene of my daughters from a scan of a faded, twenty-year-old photograph. Cecilia captured the moment splendidly, right down to their wispy curls and translucence of their little white dresses. Bravo, Cecilia! Our heartfelt thanks! It's a lovely original and Cecilia was a pleasure to work with. My painting arrived promptly and in excellent condition. I highly recommend that you treat yourself to one of her treasures! I received the painting very quickly. First, it was carefully packaged and labelled, so it arrived in pristine condition. No worries there. And I absolutely love it! It looks ever so much nicer in person; photos don't do justice to Cecilia's work. The things she can do with brush and paint to bring light alive on a canvas are amazing. I am having this professionally framed, and I intend to hang it in my bedroom to wake up to every day. It is truly lovely, and a thing of great joy. I highly recommend Cecilia's art to everyone. So fabulous! You are such a great artist! I love it! Thanks so much! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FOR MORE OF MY PAINTING OPTIONS, please have a look at this link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CECILIAROSSLEE?section_id=11829590 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those of you who have followed my blog for a while will know that I have always admired hollyhocks. Satiny, crepe-paper flowers held aloft on tall, graceful stems; I have wanted to have some of these beauties in my garden for years! Hollyhocks demand a fair bit of real estate however, and I have never had a spot for them...that is until now. In the last few weeks, I have been busy digging up a bit more of our nondescript lawn and now have a spot in the sun that should be perfect for them. Hollyhocks usually act as short-lived perennials, but re-seed themselves each year. The single form are said to be more resistant to hollyhock rust and so that is what I think I will try out in my garden next summer. For now, I will content myself with admiring them in other gardens. A stand of hollyhocks at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton, ON A private garden in Waterdown, ON The Royal Botanical Gardens again. Larkwhistle Gardens on the Bruce Peninsula. Have a great weekend everyone! P.S. We finally got some rain. We had a terrible thunderstorm and then it came down in buckets. The garden took a big, thirsty drink. Sadly, a number of area homes caught fire when lightening struck them and now these families are out of house. There always seems to be a little bit of bad to balance any good. My garden alphabet so far: 'A' is for Astilbe, 'B' is for Butterfly, Three 'C's, 'D' is for Delphinium, The Letters E and F , G is for Geranium and now H is for Hollyhocks
Learn how to plant and grow heavenly hollyhock plants. With tall spikes of colorful flowers, hollyhocks are a cottage garden favorite.

Here I am offering Seeds from Ammi visnaga Green Mist, also known as False Queen Annes Lace, and Toothpick Weed. This annual plant can live in full sun or partial shade where it grows about 3 feet high at most and blooms from the middle of the summer until early Fall. Some people like to chew the leaves and claim that they have a very nice flavor. This nectar rich flower is a big bonus for any beneficial pollinators.
