Peter vino por primera vez a Bath durante un año, en 1986, para estudiar un curso básico de arte. Luego se graduó en el Politécnico de Manchester y permaneció dos años más trabajando en un estudio en Ancoats, un área al norte del centro de la ciudad. Luego estudió un PGCE en FE en Eltham, Londres, antes de dejar la pintura. Al regresar a Bath en 1993, inspirado por la arquitectura y la vida de la ciudad, comenzó a dibujar con carbón y volvió a trabajar con óleo tres años después.
