Hello everyone! I am back to write about my recently uploaded February STEAM Activities resource. The STEAM Activities have been a HUGE hit in my classroom, so I cannot wait to continue them for the rest of the year!! The Febraury STEAM Activities set also comes with five activities. I again tried to incorporate every letter of STEAM's acronym (science, technology, engineering, art and math) throughout the month's activities. Click here to find the link to the product. The first activity in my February STEAM pack is Groundhog's Galore In this activity, students will use a 12x18 piece of paper (pre-cut), a groundhog template picture, tape and a flashlight to build the Groundhog. They will build the burrow and be able to create the Groundhog coming in and out of his den. Once everyone in the class has built their creations, the teacher may turn off the lights and students can practice and learn more about shadows. Included in this is two informational sheets to build on student knowledge: There is a graphic organizer included to help students plan and improve their creations! The next activity in my February STEAM pack is Love Bugs Students will build love bugs out of three pipe cleaners, red and white beads, and Googly eyes. If teachers are interested in saving their beads and pipe cleaners, they can use smaller pipe cleaners and less beads. Students can decide if they want to keep the love bug for themselves or give it to someone they love. If they choose to give it to someone else, they can include the following gift tag. The third activity in my February STEAM Pack is White House Construction. To celebrate President's Day, students will build the white house using paper, a cereal box, templates of the US flag and tape! They will have to make sure that their white house can stand tall and hold the president! Included to build student knowledge is an informational page about President's Day and a graphic organizer to help plan for their work. Next in the February STEAM Activities is Tooth Fairy Flight During this activity, students will learn how to build a paper airplane! To celebrate Dental Awareness Month, they will follow the given directions page to build their airplane and attach the tooth fairy. Once the airplanes are created students can measure the distances their airplanes go using rulers or any non-standard forms of measurement that you choose! Included is a "Tell Me About Teeth" informational page to learn about the importance of cleaning your teeth! The final activity in the Finally STEAM Activities is the Google Classroom and Lego lesson. Students will start on Google classroom. They will move the colored Lego pieces from the left side of the screen to the puzzle on the right side of the screen. This will help them build Valentine's Day images: a heart, a Hershey's Kiss, a rose and a mailbox! While the students are completing the Google Classroom lesson, they can color the graphic organizer to then visualize what each winter item should look like. Finally, they can use the graphic organizer to build with real Legos! The Google and graphic organizer are a great way for students to plan what to build! Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope these February STEAM Activities make Science class extra fun for you and your students! Enjoy! February STEAM Activities
