In our last quilt group's exhibition, everyone had to make a 80/80cm quilt inspired by a picture. Here's the photo I chose. The quilt is named "Argousier" (Buckhorn) Lors de la dernière exposition de notre groupe de patchwork on devait faire un quilt de 80/80cm en s'inspirant d'une photo. Voici l'image que j'ai choisie. Le quilt s'appelle "Argousier". Firstly I chose the fabrics in the colours of the picture. Then I thought about how to bring some orange in a group of green fabrics. I decided to make mini triangles. I always start by pinning a black thread on my pining wall to define the size of the quilt. I lay my orange triangle groups inside the square and start to fill the voids with green fabrics. Little by little, the quilt is constructed. I would call that right angle improv piecing. Indeed, I sew groups, somehow at random, trying to reach a right angle "block" each time, with the help of a ruler. At one point the surface is covered. All blocks can be sewn together. The quilt is completed, it has been quilted by Suzanne Wyss from Patchworkstatt in Suhr...

I haven't done many quilts this year, but with a new grand daughter on the way, I started something in my daughter's favorite colors... I was so enthusiastic to be on my sewing machine again that I cut a tremendous numbers of squares. I finally made a plaid for mother and child! Nina and Ella are getting to know each other... Nina et Ella apprennent à se connaître... Looking exactly like her ma when born, and so tiny and so darling!... Loving the HST (half square triangle) technique once more! Once the HST were done, I sew four together in a random four patch and then played with the blocks. Lots easier that way than arranging individual squares! Linking to Crazy Mom Quilt EnregistrerEnregistrer

If you lived in Japan, you could have taken a class with Hello Sandwich at a MT store. Maybe. Because the workshop was sold out! I had made way too many blocks for our guild's group quilt, and decided to make a baby quilt for a friend with the left over blocks. Linking to Finish Up Friday

"Passage", 2001, 97 / 90 cm ©Maryline Collioud-Robert Sometimes you like make a quilt so much, you save every little scraps to try and keep the magic working. I saved all the scraps of a large quilt I had so much pleasure making and used them all in this small wall quilt. I loved the colours, although I'm more of a cold colours girl. I'm especially proud of the intense fine blue line... "Passage", detail, 2001, 97 / 90 cm ©Maryline Collioud-Robert

This year the theme for our group exhibition is the weather. All titles must contain a word related to the weather or weather report. Invitation and information below. My quilt's name is "Percée dans les nuages", which means something like "peak through the clouds"... I gathered all my beige, rust, brown scraps and made a free hand cutting crazy quilt.
