Good morning, Papertrey Ink fans! Today a group of us are looking back at our favorite sets from 2008 as part of the festivities. I'm taking a stroll down memory lane with Bitty Baby Blessings. Every good stamp collection should include at least one great baby set. For me that set will always be Bitty Baby Blessings. You just can't go wrong with clean and simple images paired with a crisp font. This set is one that I turn to time and again when there's a little one to welcome into the world. I had so much fun creating the card I made to share today (my fingers are still blue from the ink splattering)! I began by creating the sponged and splattered panel that would become the waves. I blended Spring Rain and Enchanted Evening inks onto a white card panel. Then I splattered with Enchanted Evening reinker, water, and Copic's opaque white pigment. It really didn't take much time at all, but it added so much depth. I die cut the panel with the Cover Plate: Waves die. This has seriously become one of my very favorite tools. With this cover plate I can create snow, waves, sand...so many possibilities! I sponged a small panel of white cardstock with a bit of Lemon Tart ink and stamped the sun from Up, Up & Away in Harvest Gold. Then I stamped the sentiment from Bitty Baby Blessings before arranging my waves. I used both flat and foam adhesives to add dimension and texture. Next, I die cut, stamped, and colored the little boat from the set. I added the woodgrain pattern by reverse masking the body of the boat and stamping Background Basics: Woodgrain through the opening using Dark Chocolate ink. I absolutely love the result! I finished the card by matting the ocean panel with Pure Poppy + White Patterned Paper and adhering it to a Classic Kraft card base that I'd textured with the Linen & Canvas Impression Plate. The little boat was added to the waves with a bit of foam tape. I can't wait for someone to have a baby boy so I can give this card to them! Good morning, friends! And welcome back for Day 2 of the Papertrey Ink countdown. I'm sharing more of my new For You collection today with another trio of tags. I mentioned yesterday that this collection is great for gift giving occasions other than birthdays. There are separate sentiments for graduation, new home, anniversary, and wedding included in the set to cover many of your potential needs. For today's tags, I die cut the streamers tags from Limeade Ice, Summer Sunrise, and Berry Sorbet patterned papers and heat embossed them with the "To:/From:" sentiment from the set. Then, I die cut three Happy tags and stamped them with sentiments from the set using Green Parakeet, Canyon Clay, and Pale Peony inks. I used twill ribbon matching the patterned papers to connect the two tags and tied on contrasting buttons for a pop of additional color. Thank you so much for joining me today! Make sure to pop in on Nichole, Betsy, Danielle, Heather, Melissa, Erin, Lexi, and Maile for more of this month's release. See you tomorrow! Good morning, friends! It's my turn to share a Papertrey Ink Design Team Tip and I have a good ol' organizational post for you today! I love my stencils, but they were starting to get unruly. Flipping through a basket just wasn't working anymore. So I recently buckled down and figured out how to organize them in a way that is both easy to set up and easy to maintain. Since my Blending Sponge Organization worked out for so many of you, I thought this might be worth sharing too! The fact that using a binder for my sponges worked so well meant that I was already fairly committed to the idea of using a binder for stencils, too. The only problem with using the same Kraft binder is that many of the stencils in the Papertrey line are too wide to fit into the half-size page protectors (though some are not, so you could use the smaller binder depending on your needs). Luckily, there are plenty of quality binder options on the market so I knew I wouldn't have any trouble finding an alternative. I ended up choosing a blue Martha Stewart binder. The faux-leather and fabric construction makes it nice and sturdy and will hopefully hold up to plenty of use. Inside the binder are pockets that I'm using to hold the stencils I haven't gotten around to making pages for yet. It's a really quick process though, so I'm sure the pocket will be emptied before long. The pages themselves are fairly straightforward. I simply printed the name of each stencil along with the number of stencils in each collection at the top of an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of white cardstock (that font is Century Gothic for any of you who might be wondering). Each stencil got its own page rather than an entire collection on one sheet. I chose to do it that way so I could sponge a bit of each pattern on the page to have a reference for what the design really looks like when stenciled. It also helps keep the stencils from getting caught and tangled on one another. No one likes a tangled (and potentially damaged) stencil. I printed out all of the pages first and just used one ink color (Aqua Mist) for the whole book to help streamline the process. Then I tucked the sheet and stencil into a page protector. There are two sheets and stencils in most page protectors. The sets with three stencils just span two pages in the binder. I divided the stencils into five groups and then alphabetized each group. The categories are Stencil Basics, Stand-Alone Collections, Make It Market Mini Kits, Make It Market Large Kits, and Color Pop Kits (which, yes, are Make It Market Minis, but there are enough of them that I thought they deserved their own section). This project was such a no-brainer for me. It's so much quicker to find what I need now! And it's so easy to pop out the page I need and slip the stencil in and out of the sleeve. Like I said, I had been storing everything in a basket on my workbench, but this has proven to be a far superior solution. I'm really glad I bit the bullet and finally put this binder together. I truly hope you have found this helpful. Happy organizing and happy crafting! Have a wonderful weekend! Supplies:

Good morning! Welcome to this month’s color installment! Today I'm taking a look at fall colors. I know that for many this is a favorite color season to stamp, but I'm more of a spring/summer/rainbow girl, so I thought I'd challenge myself to find some "trendy" fall color combos to try. When I'm loo
This is the card that I made for Dawn. I used her Gran's Garden flowers, the Center Style Feminine Die, "Praying for You" from her Cheerful Heart set, her dot stencil, and inside I put a verse from New Every Morning "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness". It's already on its way to her!
Good morning and welcome to Day 4 of the January Papertrey Ink countdown. Today we're featuring a couple of sets with latin flair. I love the bold and graphic look of the stamps we're introducing this morning. They encourage the use of such bright and cheerful colors and who doesn't love that?! This time of year, that flash of vivid color can go a long way to add happiness to a gray day (and we've had plenty of those lately). Let's get on to the details! My first card just uses Nichole's new Latin Motifs set. These images have a folk-art style that you're going to love! I began by stamping the sun onto a panel of white cardstock. I trimmed away part of that panel to give a peek at the card base underneath. I stamped the sentiment and then adhered that layer to an Aqua Mist card base that I'd stamped with a line pattern from the set. I used Tropical Teal ink to give a nice, bold contrast. Next, I stamped the bird onto scrap cardstock using Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy inks. I trimmed around it and played with the wings a little until they had a slight curve. I attached the bird to the card front with foam tape, using two layers under the wings to give that curve some support. Aren't those colors perfect for encouraging someone who needs it? Next up, I've paired the flowers from Latin Motifs with the leaves in my Palm Prints set. I began by sponging and speckling a white card base with Aqua Mist ink. Then, I stamped the card base with a few leaves and added in some die cuts for a bit of variety. I used both flat and foam adhesives to give plenty of dimension. Then I stamped and trimmed out the flowers. I wanted a nice pop of color, so I went with bright oranges. I tucked the flowers in around the leaves and then topped everything off with a simple sentiment strip. I'm really loving that orange! That's all for me, friends. Thank you so much for stopping by today! Make sure to check in with Nichole, Amy, Ashley, Betsy, Dawn, Heather, Kay, Laurie S., Laurie W., Melissa, and Maile to see more inspiration. Have a great day and I'll see you again soon! Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to Day 4 of the Papertrey Ink July Countdown! Today is group post number two and today is all about the tropics. The tropics are totally on trend right now so the new sets we're introducing today couldn't be more in vogue! But in customary Papertrey style, these images are classic and clever and sure to be fresh for many years to come. Let's look at these projects in a little more detail, shall we? I began with this Missing You card using Maile's new Tropics set. I couldn't wait to try some sponging techniques on those leaves! I started by stamping the leaves onto a white cardstock panel using Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Limeade Ice, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, and Pinefeather inks. I blended the colors on the stamps before making my impression in order to get varying levels of depth. Then I used the Sentiment Splits: Angle Vertical die to cut the panel into two pieces. I heat embossed a sentiment from Keep It Simple: Missing You onto a Green Parakeet card base in the void between the two pieces. Then I attached the leafy pieces to the card base with foam tape and embellished with a crochet thread bow and some sequins from the Rainbows & Sprinkles Make It Market Kit. Nice and simple! Next up is the retirement card that I created by pairing Tropics with Nichole's Some Like It Hot set. I began by stamping and die cutting the flamingo. I used Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, and just a touch of Pure Poppy to achieve his color. I set him aside while I worked on the card base. First, I die cut a circle from Green Parakeet cardstock and used that as a template. Then, I created the little ocean scene by sponging some Aqua Mist ink onto a white card base before stamping my palms into place. The water was created by sponging Hawaiian Shores and Tropical Teal inks onto a Background Basics: Woodgrain strip. I stamped the tribal sketch image around the circumference of the die cut circle before adhering that panel into place. I mounted my flamingo into place with foam tape before tucking in a Number The Stars Banner shape that I'd stamped with a sentiment from Just A Number. I also attached a "happy" that I'd die cut from Hawaiian Shores cardstock sponged with Tropical Teal ink. I love how this one came together! Finally today I have one more card for you featuring Number The Stars and Background Basics: Galaxy. I started by sponging Enchanted Evening ink onto a piece of Spring Rain cardstock. Once that was completely dry, I heat embossed the outline stars from Background Basics: Galaxy using gold powder. Next, I cut a slightly offset frame of white cardstock using one of the Double Ups: Rectangle dies. I adhered both to a white card base, tucking a gold embossed sentiment banner in there, too. Next, I stamped the baby from Bundle Of Love onto a scrap of white cardstock and colored her with Copic markers. I trimmed her out and added her to the tip of the sentiment banner with foam adhesive. Nice and simple! Well, that's all for me today, friends. Thank you for joining me! I'll be back tomorrow with a few more projects, but in the meantime, make sure to check in with Nichole, Amy, Ashley, Betsy, Danielle, Dawn, Heather, Kay, Laurie, and Melissa to see more of this month's release. Erin and Maile are also sharing a few more peeks, so make sure to visit them, too! See you tomorrow! Good morning and welcome to Day 5 of the Papertrey Ink April countdown. It's all about the stitching projects today! This new batch of stitching dies is truly going to knock your socks off! Erin has thought of everything to make stitched home decor a snap. Embroidered hoops are some of my favorite gifts to give, so I know these dies will be in heavy rotation around here. Let's get on to my project! Isn't this the cutest thing?! I used a 6" hoop and some white linen as the foundation for my design. I used the largest of the previously released Stitched Circles as a base and then used the new Hoopla: Stitched Circle Bases to add "grass" to my little scene. I thought it would be fun to work with the Hoopla: Stitched Banners dies. I used the Tiny Stitched Alphabet to add lettering to the individual pennants. Then I stitched them to the hoop with light gray thread. I added Pure Poppy scallops to the entire outer edge using the new Hoopla: Stitched Scallop Dies. I added a Pure Poppy Twill bow at the top of the hoop for an extra detail. I incorporated a bouncing red rubber ball, mostly because it just felt playful, using a Pure Poppy button and some metallic thread. I just free-handed the bounce. I finished my sentiment with the previously released Sew Stylish Alphabet 1 Die. I love how much versatility is built in to every single stitching die Erin has designed. They all work together so seamlessly (don't mind the pun). Thank you so much for stopping by today! I'll be back tomorrow with a handful of additional projects featuring this month's releases. See you then! Good morning, Friends, and welcome to the December Papertrey Ink countdown! I am so very excited about the new products I get to introduce this month. I have two new stamp sets to share with you over the next few days. Block Party and Drips & Dribbles will both be available on the 15th at 10pm, but in the meantime I have all sorts of inspiration to share. Let's get on to some projects, shall we? First I'm going to share Block Party with you. It's a totally loaded $24 set and it even has a coordinating set of dies! I am so stinking giddy about this set, I don't even know how to explain. I've been anxiously awaiting this set's debut since I first drew it more than a year ago. If there was ever a stamp set that would have appealed to Little Lizzie, this may be the one. I was always more interested in my blocks than my dolls (much to my mother's chagrin) and these images would have been right up my alley! I started this first card by stamping a block formation onto white cardstock using Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist, and Spring Moss inks. Next, I die cut the new Phrase Play die from two pieces of white and one piece of Aqua Mist cardstock. I stamped the sentiment with Smokey Shadow ink onto vellum (I clear embossed it to set the ink) and sandwiched it between the layers of Phrase Play shapes. I adhered the Phrase Play piece to the card front and embellished it with Lemon Tart letters and a Spring Moss star. I added a tiny bit of glitter to the star to give it a little extra something special. This design is so simple and could be done in nearly any color combination! My second Block Party card for today was inspired by the playful primary colored blocks that I had as a child. The sentiment would be perfect for letting a little person (or big person) in your world know how much you enjoy them. I began by stamping my tower in an ink combo of Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy, Harvest Gold, New Leaf, and Orange Zest. I followed up with my sentiment in Smokey Shadow. Then, Maile-style, I trimmed away a strip of cardstock to play up the shapes a little bit. I backed the panel with a piece of Swiss Dot Summer Sunrise paper for another fun punch of color. It's simple, but the bright colors give it plenty of interest. My final card today features Drips & Dribbles. This $15 set of splatters, spots, and rings will pair perfectly with any of the beverage sets in your collection! It can also be used alone as a great background building set and it even includes a couple of coordinating sentiments. To start today I wanted to create an unconventional Valentine that you could give a fella (not necessarily my fella because coffee turns him into a crazy person, but some hypothetical fella). This card seriously could not be easier. I began by rolling my coffee ring stamps in a few different colors of ink and then I sprayed them with water to get everything all sloppy and blended. Then, I simply stamped directly onto Rustic White cardstock. I followed up with a couple of the splatters using much the same technique. I set the base aside for awhile (maybe a half an hour or so) to let the rings and splatters dry before I added the sentiment with Dark Chocolate ink. Next, I textured the card front with the Linen & Canvas Impression Plate for a smidge more dimension. It still needed a little something so I added a tiny, glittered heart die cut with foam tape. I feel like Valentine's Day is one of the few occasions that you can get away with giving even the manliest of men a little sparkle. But maybe that's just me. That's all for me today! Make sure to check in with Nichole and Laura as they showcase Block Party today. Betsy, Dawn, Erin, Heather, Laurie, Lexi, Maile, and Melissa Bickford also have inspiration to share, so make sure to pop over and see them, too! I'll be back tomorrow with more Block Party and Drips & Dribbles. See you then! Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to Day 4 of the Papertrey Ink July countdown! I'm so glad you're joining me again today for a few more peeks at These United States and State Abbreviations. Nichole and the team are also sharing inspiration with this set today as part of the "Wish You Were Here" group post. There's a lot to see, so let's get going! My first project to share is a little trio of simple embossed cards that really make the state dies the focus. I began each card by embossing the front panel with impression plates using the impression plate tricks that Erin shared in this Make It Monday video. Then, I stamped the sentiments with gray pigment ink and added the states. For the Hawaii card I Xyroned a small piece of Aqua Mist cardstock and die cut it with the state die. I used the oval negative as a guide to help me place the islands. I embellished them with a sparkly coating of glitter. For the Idaho card I die cut the state from Simply Chartreuse cardstock and clear heat embossed it with one of the small background blocks from Background Basics: Medallions. The Nebraska card was similar to the Idaho card. I used the gingham block from Bitty Background Blocks to give the state shape a pattern. These cards went together super quickly, but they still have a professional finish thanks to the impression plate technique and the nice edge on the die cut states. My next two project would be the perfect card to give a traveller right before they head off on another adventure. I began by die cutting and stamping several state shapes before arranging them on a Spring Moss card front. Then, I lightly traced around them and used the outlines as a guide for my arrows. Once finished, I adhered my card front to a white base, erased my pencil lines, and mounted my states with foam tape. I continued by die cutting the layering banner from the Notched Star Banner Die Collection twice, once from Enchanted Evening and once from white. I trimmed the sides off of the white die cut and stamped it with the sentiment from These United States. Then, I layered the two die cuts and adhered them to the card front. This next card would be ideal for someone you care about that is very far away. I began by die cutting a Half & Half shape and stamping it with the sentiment from These United States. I embellished it with the dashed heart line image in Berry Sorbet. The line was just a smidge too short, so I used the dashed arrow line to extend it a little on each side. Next, I die cut the states from my sentiment strip. I stamped polka dots and the hearts in the negative space and embellished the strip with pewter brads. Next, I cut a Christmas Label Die shape, sliced it in half, and heat embossed it with the rays from Hello Sunshine. I tucked the halves under the sentiment strip before adhering everything to my Classic Kraft card base. This sentiment would be perfect for Operation Write Home cards! My final card today uses the same layout as the Tolkien quote card. It's a great basic layout to have in your back pocket for those need-a-card-quickly moments. I began by die cutting a whole slew of states from white cardstock. Then, I went about arranging them in a puzzle formation onto a Soft Stone card base. I adhered them with flat adhesive, save the Ohio shape that I had stamped with the large heart. That one was added with foam tape. Next, I die cut one of the label shapes from Fabulous Frames and heat embossed it with the sentiment from These United States. I adhered it to my card front with foam adhesive. I tied a baker's twine bow around the card and embellished the heart with glitter for some final touches. It's a fairly simple card, but that really helps to drive home the message. Well, that's all for me today. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope to see you again tomorrow for one more day of projects featuring These United States and the Text Block: Thankful die. In the meantime, Nichole, Ashely, Betsy, Danielle, Dawn, Erin, Heather, Laura, Laurie, Maile, Melissa Phillips, and Melissa Bickford all have additional inspiration for you to enjoy. Take care and I'll see you tomorrow! Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Day 4 of the June Papertrey Ink new release countdown! I'm back again today with a couple of projects featuring my new set, Bowl Of Sunshine (available June 15th). I know it's a group post day and you have plenty to hop around to see, so let's get right to it! My first card today would be a nice, have-a-great-day sort of card. I began by stamping a panel of Pure Poppy with the largest polka dot from Polka Dot Basics III using the matching ink. Then, I went back and overstamped a few of the dots randomly with the crosshatched overlay using Dark Chocolate ink. I adhered that to a white card base and set it aside. Next, I die cut an apples (no leaves) shape and bowl from white cardstock. I stamped them with the coordinating images and adhered them together with flat adhesive. Then, I die cut a Mat Stack 3 shape from Classic Kraft cardstock and stamped it with the shadow and leaves. I mounted my bowl of apples to the Mat Stack shape and then mounted the whole focal point to my card base with a bit of foam tape. Next, I die cut the banner shape from Tag Sale #10 from white cardstock and stamped it with the sentiment and two Pure Poppy dots. Finally, I mounted the sentiment banner to the card front and embellished with small dots of Stickles. My second card is another using the "make lemonade" sentiment. I began by texturing the front of a Spring Moss card base with the Linen & Canvas impression plate. Then, I stamped my patterned panel using Simply Chartreuse and Lemon Tart inks and attached an Aqua Mist Loop De Loop Border Die shape to the back. I adhered that whole piece to the front of my card base. Next, I die cut the sentiment flag from Simply Chartreuse cardstock before stamping and heat embossing my sentiment. Then, I die cut the lemons (with leaves) and a bowl shape and stamped them with Harvest Gold, Simply Chartreuse, and Aqua Mist inks. I adhered my sentiment flag to the card front then attached the bowl and fruit dies with foam tape. I finished up by using a bit more of the tape to adhere the dies to the card front. Good morning friends. Papertrey Ink's Dawn McVey had a great Make it Monday video this week on using two background stamps together, and even though I don't own any actual PTI background stamps (sigh!), I still had a fun time doing this challenge! I used a couple SU! background stamps, and then PTI's new "Meadow Greens" stamps set, and I love how it turned out! Take a look: A BIG thank you to my cousin Sue who came to visit yesterday and brought her "Meadow Greens" stamp set along so we could "play"! I just LOVE this stamp set...pretty, pretty! This card was really easy to make...a white card base and then stamping on the kraft cs layer. I used SU!'s "Print Pattern" and "French Script" background stamps in Soft Seude ink for my background. Here's a closer up picture so you can see the background better: I think these 2 pair up wonderfully together, and will definitely have to try this technique with some other stamps...lots of fun to see how they turn out! I kept my colors for the "Meadow Greens" (did I mention I LOVE this set?!!!!!) leaves and flowers simple so the background wouldn't totally fade, but would still stand out against a busy background. I used SU!'s Old Olive ink for the stems and leaves, and white embossing powder for the flower. (when you use your heat tool to emboss this flower, it almost looks like a firework exploding as it embosses...fun to watch!) I added a simple pop dotted banner at the bottom and called it good. Simple but beautiful! My cousin and I made a couple other cards with this set yesterday too, and I'll show those to you tomorrow...just a classically beautiful set to play with! Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a wonderful Thursday! :0)

Good morning, Friends! Today, I have the great pleasure of getting to introduce the Quick Stitch: Sewing Staples Kit, designed by Erin Lincoln for Papertrey Ink. You can find more details about the kit on Nichole's Blog, but here are the basics: The first Quick Stitch Kit will be released on March 9th and it is entitled "Sewing Staples". Erin has really outdone herself with this one! The stitching dies included help you to make a few different sewing accessories that are not only beautiful, but also super functional. You will have all of your sewing supplies in order just in time for the new stitching products coming out over the next year! Not only will this kit help YOU to get organized, but also make wonderful handmade gifts for friends and family. The team even has a few unconventional uses for these stitching dies that will allow you to take everything in a completely different direction and get more value for your investment in these tools! I am absolutely smitten with Erin's new Quick Stitch: Sewing Staples Kit! These adorable projects are a breeze thanks to the thoughtfully designed dies and embellishments Erin has included. And I can't even tell you how much fun it's been to create color coordinated bobbins for all of my felt and floss. You're sure to fall in love with this kit from the moment you thread your first needle! How about we get to the fun now, eh? So the first thing I wanted to do with this kit was make myself a coordinated needle book and scissor keeper. Every crafty girl needs her accessories, am I right? I began with the needle book. I die cut a front cover from Ocean Tides felt, an inside scalloped cover from Vintage Cream felt, and an inside page (the same shape as the front cover) also from Vintage Cream felt. I used the binding die to add holes down the center of each page for effortless assembly. I also die cut my monogram from Pure Poppy felt, using the Sew Stylish Alphabet 1 die, and assortment of flowers and leaves from Vintage Cream, Harvest Gold, Ocean Tides, Simply Chartreuse, and Pure Poppy. I also die cut an open pocket, two needle pockets, and a pin holder from Ocean Tides and Pure Poppy. I used the "holes-only" dies to make the floral embellishment on the pocket totally easy. I just lined up the holes and stitched away. The little flower on the needle pocket was freehanded after the needle pocket was stitched into place. Then, I used the "holes-only" dies for the open pocket and the needle pocket on the inside cover and inside pages. These dies take all the guesswork out of putting this little book together. You can even decide which pockets and features will work best for you for a totally custom arrangement. I used an open pocket on the inside cover to hold my threader and a couple of bar pins. I love having these on hand for brooches and other wearables. The back pages feature plentiful needle storage and a pin corral, too. I love having an assortment of needles close at hand and my husband loves that I'm not storing them in the arm of my favorite armchair anymore. Heh, heh...ouch. I added a few more tiny flowers to these pages to dress them up a little. I wanted some embellishment, but I didn't want the flowers to get in the way of the pins and needles, so I kept it fairly minimal. It's just enough, I think. After all of the pages had been embellished, I sandwiched my ribbon in between my front and inside covers and stitched down the center binding. Erin has included a ribbon slot die, but I liked the idea of just stitching between the layers for simplicity. I then stitched the center pocket together and the inside and outside pages to each other. I'm in love with how this turned out. It's just plain adorable! I, of course, needed a scissor keeper to coordinate, so that's what I worked on next. I die cut two of the top layer from Ocean Tides and two of the scalloped layer from Vintage Cream. Then, I die cut the "holes-only" floral cluster from one of the Ocean Tides pieces. Next, I die cut an assortment of flowers and leaves using Pure Poppy, Vintage Cream, Harvest Gold, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, and Spring Moss. Following the pattern, I stitched on the flowers and leaves and followed up with the seed beads in the remaining open spaces. I used contrasting thread to highlight the beautiful details Erin included in these dies. Some of the flowers even have a central hole that is perfect for adding a French knot or additional bead for an extra delicate touch. I finished the scissor keeper by stitching all the layers together according to Erin's fabulous instructions. Her tutorial video is incredibly helpful and super fun to watch. Erin also included dies and other supplies that enable you to create your own color coordinated floss bobbins. Oh. My. Word. I love these things. The bobbins come together quickly and they make it incredibly easy to organize your supplies. There's a small rectangle stamp in the Sewing Staples mini stamp set that you use to stamp onto iron-on transfer paper. Then you use the mirror image numbers to stamp the floss codes. A simple die cut, some ironing onto Fresh Snow ribbon, and BOOM...custom floss bobbins with reference tags. I have about 1/3 of my floss finished and the rest prepped. I can't wait to get them done. The kit also comes with this charming wooden bobbin box. You can paint it, embellish it, use it for gift wrap...the world is your oyster. I wanted to see what would happen if I tried stamping the Sewing Staples mini images onto the transfer paper and then ironing it onto my box. Here's the result! It's nice and simple. I thought about painting the box first, but I wasn't sure how the paint would handle the heat of the iron, so I left it au natural. If you choose to try this yourself here's a tip: do not glide your iron over the transfer paper. Straight up and down, People. Straight up and down. Trust. You can also see here how I store unused lengths of separated floss. I only use three of the threads in a strand of floss when I do my stitching, so I wrap the extra three strands around the bobbin to have easily accessible when I need more of a particular color. It cuts down on waste and it's always easy to find. I also wanted to try my hand at a slightly simplified version of that ensemble. This set uses many of the same elements, just taken down a notch. It would be a great gift for someone who is just getting started in embroidery or cross stitch. This time I started with the scissor keeper. I did this one out of Spring Moss and Vintage Cream base piece with flowers in Melon Berry, Harvest Gold, and Vintage Cream. All of the leaves are done in Simply Chartreuse. I used the "holes-only" flowers and leaves on the Spring Moss layer first and then went back and stitched on my felt bits. Then, I stitched the scissor keeper up just like the other one. You could leave out the scalloped layer if you wanted to simplify even further, but I love that sweet edge. Next, I went about creating a needle booklet. I made this one with a combination of cardstock and felt to make it a little more disposable. I die cut a front cover from white cardstock and an inside cover from Spring Moss. I scored both down the center. Then, I stamped the sentiment from the Sewing Staples mini onto the white piece and die cut that layer with the "holes-only" flower and leaf dies. I love the holes only dies when working with paper. They make the stitching so much easier! I stitched on the flower and leaves and then set that piece aside. Next, I used the "holes-only" needle pocket and open pocket dies to create the holes in my inside cover. I stitched on the Melon Berry pockets and then stitched the front and inside covers together using contrasting stitching. I hid the knot in the inside crease so it wouldn't be distracting. Just fill with some simple notions and your gift is complete. I packaged the booklet inside a glassine envelope, but you could also just tuck it into the scissor keeper with some nice snips for a cozy crafty package. My last ensemble for today is a mini wall art piece. I really enjoy doing these small embroidery hoop pieces and this kit is perfect for putting together a decor piece in no time at all. There's someone in my world going through some really rough stuff, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to whip up something to remind her to smile. I began by ironing a piece of lightweight Heat N Bond onto the back of a piece of linen. The reason for this is two-fold. Number 1: this will reinforce the holes of the floral cluster so you don't rip through the narrow bits (that said, don't tug the thread too hard). Number 2: the paper backing on the Heat N Bond helps you get a nice, clean cut with the die. I let it cool for a moment or three and then die cut the "holes-only" floral cluster from the center of my linen. Next, I die cut an assortment of flowers and leaves using Autumn Rose, Scarlet Jewel, Lavender Moon, Vintage Cream, Simply Chartreuse, and Spring Moss. Just as I had with the scissor keeper, I followed the pattern by stitching on the flowers and leaves and following up with the seed beads in the remaining open spaces. I wanted the hanging to give an uplifting message, so I freehanded the "Smile" with some backstitching. If you don't trust yourself to freehand you could always use a disappearing ink pen to draw on your message first. I finished the outer hoop by wrapping it with the Fresh Snow satin to make it look a touch more polished. My itty bitty gift needed an itty bitty card to send a brief note, so I die cut a piece of white cardstock using the scalloped layer from the needle book die collection. I stamped it with the flowers from the Sewing Staples mini set and a sentiment from Words Of Comfort. I added felt buttons cut from Scarlet Jewel and Lavender Moon felt and tied them on with white floss. It's the perfect size to say "I'm thinking of you." The stitching holes are a sweet detail, too. Alright, Friends. There you have it! Erin's Quick Stitch: Sewing Staples kit will be available on March 9th at 10pm EST in the Papertrey Ink store so make sure to pick up your own copy then. Good morning, Friends, and welcome to the first day of the July Papertrey Ink new release countdown! This morning I have the pleasure of introducing you to the brand new L'Shanah Tovah mini set. This mighty little set includes apple and honey images as well as a selection of sentiments perfect for your Rosh Hashanah creations. Nichole and Heather are also showcasing this set today, so you'll have plenty of inspiration to get your juices flowing this morning. How about we get on to the projects, eh? My first card today features the two-step honey wand included in the set. I began by die cutting the Cover Plate: Hexagons from Harvest Gold and white cardstocks. I stamped a few of the Harvest Gold hexagons with one of the strips from Ombre Builders to give them a bit of a darker tone-on-tone appearance. Then, I adhered the white outline panel to a Lemon Tart card front and filled in a cascade of hexagons from one corner to the other, randomly adding in the stamped variety. Next, I heat embossed the sentiment onto a strip of vellum using gold detail powder. I attached the ends of that strip to the back of the Lemon Tart panel before adhering that whole piece to a white card base. I then die cut the honey wand shape and stamped the honey with Harvest Gold ink. I followed up by heat embossing the wand with gold powder. I attached they honey wand to the card front with foam tape to finish the card. My next project for today is a Rosh Hashanah gift set centered around the apple. I knew I wanted to create a gift box and was hemming and hawing about which box to use when it hit me...the Favor It: Cupcake Box! Perfect! I began by die cutting and assembling a Favor It: Cupcake Box shape from Pure Poppy polka dot paper (if you missed the assembly video last month you can find it HERE). I created a stem from Dark Chocolate felt and embellished with a Leave It Be leaf. Then I stamped a Sketched Shapes banner with a sentiment from the set and tucked it under the stem. Wouldn't this be perfect filled with Bit-O-Honey candies? The card came together just as quickly. I began by die cutting the Cover Plate: Mighty Oak from white, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, and Kraft cardstocks. I layered the white panel over a Simply Chartreuse Striped card front and added in a few random leaves using the Ripe Avocado and Spring Moss cuts. I stamped the tree trunk with the image from the coordinating stamp set using Kraft ink. I inlaid that into the white panel and then stamped the sentiment from L'Shanah Tovah in Dark Chocolate ink. Then, I die cut and stamped three of the solid apples (there's an outline version in the set as well) and adhered those to the card front using foam tape. That's all I have for you today. Thank you so much for joining me! I'll see you back here tomorrow with more projects featuring L'Shanah Tovah. In the meantime, Nichole, Betsy, Dawn, Heather, Maile, Melissa, and Erin all have more inspiration in store. I'll see you tomorrow! Good morning, friends! It's a new month and you know what that means...it's time for the Papertrey Ink Color Play feature. This month we're playing along with this photo: Source Isn't that lovely? I was immediately drawn to this photo in part because it included two of Papertrey's newest colors. It's also such a cheerful backdrop that I couldn't help but smile. I thought those pretty pinks would be ideal for giving Dawn's new Bold Blossoms Watercolor Sheets a try, and who can resist the opportunity to color? I began by simply adding color to one of the sheets with watercolor markers. I used several colors, mixing here and there to stay as close to the inspiration photo as possible. Once I was finished painting and the panel was dry, I adhered it to a Mint Julep card base. Next, I used the Basic Bookmark #2 die to cut a sentiment banner from another coloring sheet (Save those goof-ups! You can use the back for things like this). I stamped that with a sentiment from Stylish Sentiments: Birthday in black ink. Then, I stamped the outline flowers from the Bold Blossoms set onto the sentiment banner using ink colors that coordinated with the surrounding flowers. I then tied on a silk bow and attached the sentiment piece to the card front with foam tape. I love how easy these coloring sheets make simple and quick cards! Well, that's all for me today. I hope you've enjoyed today's post. I'll see you back here again before too long. The Papertrey Ink anniversary festivities are almost here. Are you ready? Have a great day! Good morning, friends! Welcome to the first day of the Papertrey Ink May new release countdown! I have the great pleasure of introducing a couple of additions to the Papertrey family over the next few days. This month brings a follow up to last year's Bowl Of Sunshine stamp set called A Second Helping Of Sunshine (available May 15th) as well as the next in the Text Block series, Text Block: Dad (available May 15th). How about we get on to a couple of projects so you can see these new goodies in action! This first card is a Father's Day card made with the new Text Block: Dad die. I began by stamping a Rustic White card base with Background Basics: Retro and set it aside. Next, I die cut the Text Block: Dad shape from two pieces of wood veneer paper (one had been "stained" with Dark Chocolate ink). I used an inlay technique to build the Text Block on a piece of Kraft cardstock. The contrast is so cool! And the best part? Now I have a second one (in the opposite colors) to make an additional card. Handy! Next, I added foam tape to the back of the Text Block piece and stuck a few flat-head pins through the foam to look like nails. I stuck that down to the prepared card base and went about making my hammer. I die cut the shape from Rustic White cardstock and stamped the handle with Pure Poppy ink. I went back with VersaMark and silver powder to heat emboss the metal head of the hammer. I used a small piece of foam tape to adhere the hammer into position and called it a day. So great for a Mr. Fix-it, wouldn't you say? Next up is A Second Helping Of Sunshine! I started by stamping a piece of Fresh Snow linen cardstock with Background Basics: Super Gingham in Spring Moss ink. I die cut the gingham piece and some Spring Moss with the You've Been Framed: Diamond die and inlaid the patterned piece into a Pure Poppy You've Been Framed shape. I matted that whole panel with a piece of linen cardstock and then adhered the whole thing to a Kraft card base. Next, I die cut and stamped the bowl and cherries using Pure Poppy, Enchanted Evening, Dark Chocolate, and Spring Moss inks. The sentiment was stamped in Enchanted Evening on a Sketched Shapes banner. I adhered that to the card front before adding my bowl of cherries with foam tape. A simple baker's twine bow was the perfect finishing touch. I have one last card to share with you, also made with A Second Helping Of Sunshine. This one is a simple card, but it gets the message across rather well, no? I began by stamping the scale onto a Soft Stone card base using Tropical Teal ink. I added the shadow (from Bowl Of Sunshine) with Aqua Mist that had been stamped off once. Then I added the sentiment above the scale using Smokey Shadow ink. Next, I die cut a circle using the Rattled die and stamped it with the dial and pointer for the scale. I adhered it into place and covered it with an epoxy embellishment I created using Heather's handy tutorial. The result is so lifelike! Just a fun card with a hint of silliness to let someone know that they're on your mind. So that's all for me today, folks. I'll be back again tomorrow with more of this month's new releases. In the meantime, Nichole, Betsy, Dawn, Erin, Maile, and Lexi for more inspiration. Have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow! Good morning, and welcome back to another day of inspiration (Day #4!), featuring the July 2017 Papertrey Ink release! Today I'll be sharing projects using two new July sets - Fruit Salad and On The Wagon. Fruit Salad is an amazing stamp set, full of fabulous fonts and phrases! And... the Fruit Salad line also includes terrific dies - watermelon, cherry, citrus and pineapple! Love 'em all! The lovely watermelon was calling to me with it's beautiful red/green color combo, lots of white and the perfect black accents. Next up is On The Wagon, with beautiful designs from Betsy Veldman. This stamp set, and coordinating dies, centers around the fun multi-step vintage station wagon and some fabulous wagon accessories, for every season/occasion! I decided to incorporate some of the wagon accessories for a fun, beachy card...... a pile of colorful surf boards, some lovely blue waves and a few palm trees waving in the background help to create this summertime scene. Many thanks for taking a peek today! Please be sure to pop on over to Nichole's blog where you'll find more JULY inspiration and fabulous projects from Betsy, Dawn, Heather, Melissa, Lizzie, Laurie, Keeway, AND Wanda!
