How to make a paper pumpkin
Welcome to our Paper Pumpkin Possibilities blog hop! I am so excited to have joined this team of hoppers sharing alternative designs for each month's Paper Pumpkin kit. This month's kit is perfect for building your stash of birthday cards!! Hopefully what we show will inspire you. Be sure to hop all the way through to see what this amazing team has come up with! Here is the unboxing video - so you can see all that is included and how the kit can come together. VIDEO ~*~*~*~*~ AUGUST: Time for Cake Info on Kit Contents: Bring on a birthday bash with elegant birthday cards made with rose gold details! • Makes 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs • Project includes printed card bases, coordinating envelopes, and labels • Embellishments and rose gold cord • Coordinating colors: Moody Mauve, Night of Navy (Classic Stampin’ Spot), Petal Pink, Pecan Pie, Pretty in Pink, Wild Wheat ~*~*~*~*~ Yes, this kit is just as fun as advertised - again I love the projects just as shown! But I still had so much fun coming up with some alternates - My first one is just so simple - but I love it! I used a Night of Navy base from my stash - Added a 2 1/2" strip of Wild Wheat down the middle; and a 2" strip of the light pink card base from the kit. On that I popped up a 1 1/2" x 3 3/4" strip of the candle piece from the kit and added the Happy Birthday and a bow with the Rose Gold cording. Then I used the Iridescent Foil Gems to add a little sparkle to the flames. Here's the inside - You could make several of these by cutting the kit elements apart. Here's a tip for the candles - I just placed both the candle stamp and the sparkle together on the block and had to stamp each once instead of twice - then added a dot with a yellow marker. Here's my second alternative - Again easy peasey - For this card I started with a base of Basic White - a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Night of Navy and then a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of one of the envelope linings - you can just open them and cut what your need - it extends the kit further - and the patterns are all beautiful. Loved this design and it worked perfect on my card. Then I took the three layers from the cake image and made them into candles (these were actually extra even if I had made all three cards of this pattern) - I adhered them to a Basic White piece 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" popping up the middle one on dimensionals. This was layered onto a piece of Night of Navy 2 3/4" x 4" and that entire piece popped up on dimensionsals. My sentiment banner was stamped with the bonus stamped - I used Moody Mauve and stamped it off once to make it a bit lighter - so my Happy Birthday sentiment would show up better. I then fussy cut it and adhered it to the middle candle. For the candle sparkles on this card I used the Adhesive Backed Sparkle Gems - gold ones. Then finally - here are how I finished the envelopes - using my own Basic White ones - though you could use ones in the kit - And my third alternative (this kit could just go on and on with ideas) - This card is for my great-nephew's 6th birthday. I love how the bonus number set allows us to make our cards more personal. I started with a Night of Navy base and added a Basic White layer that was embossed with our Dotted Circles 3D Embossing Folder - I just love the festive look of this. Then added 1" x 3 5/8" strips to the front - that were cut from other parts of the kit, including the envelopes. Then added the banner and number - and of course finished the inside. I hope you've enjoyed these alternative ideas. Now be sure to hop through the rest to get some great inspiration. Don't forget to leave a comment, as we'd love to hear what you think. Hello stampin' friends!!! It's almost the weekend...who's excited?!? This momma is! My twins were originally scheduled to play in an out of town tournament this weekend, but due to the holiday weekend and lack of teams, it was canceled. This means we have a WHOLE weekend at home with no baseball games. Don't get me wrong...I love this time of year and love watching my boys play. But having an unexpected free weekend is kind of a treat, especially since it's along weekend. Before I get to today's cards, I promised I would fill you all in on our first annual Special Education track meet we had earlier this week. It was such a GREAT event! The kiddos all had so much fun! Seeing all of their smiles as they participated in each event was the BEST part of the day. We have a few bugs to work out for next year, but all in all, it couldn't have been more perfect for the kids! I am so very blessed to be a part of such an amazing team! Okay...on to today's cards! This month's Paper Pumpkin kit arrived last week and I finally had some time to sit down and create last night. Masculine cards are always a little bit more difficult for me to come up with, but Stampin' Up nailed it with this kit! The stamp set has so many great sentiments to create a manly card for any man in your life! I followed the kit directions for the first two cards. How great are these?!?! They went together in no time at all! The mountain and water pieces are stickers...so easy to attach! I stepped things up a bit for the next cards. I altered the layout of some of them and used my Layering Circles Framelits to add a little extra dimension to a couple others. There are so many possibilities with this kit! I love it! I made sure to order a refill for this kit because I know I will have many more masculine cards to create this year and this kit will be my go to! If you don't already subscribe to Paper Pumpkin, make sure you do before June 10th! June's kit will coordinate with amazing new Stampin' Up! products in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog...you won't want to miss it or any other kits to come come! I hope you have a fantastic day! Happy Stamping!
