“Ragnvaldur the Traveller” Viking Splint Bracers Strong leather bracers with weathered metal splints The Traveller finds himself in many situations, and must know how to defend himself. From wolves to giant bullfrogs, there’s no telling what kind of monsters might emerge on his journeys. Usually, his enemies will find themselves defeated, and the traveller will be left with another story to tell. The traveller doesn’t want to be encumbered by heavy plate or chainmail. Instead, he prefers light, flexible amor that will keep him self but still allow him the freedom of movement to run and hide, and bide his time. After all - there won't be a story if he doesn't make it out alive! These bracers meet all of that criteria: they're crafted from robust, quality leather that is still flexible enough to be comfortable. They have a strong look to them, punctuated by five chemically weathered steel or brass splints, which break up the look of the leather and give your bracers a truly unique look. The splints are secured with multiple rivets to ensure they stay in place. These are a well finished piece, edged with an extra strip of leather at the top and bottom and strong stitching to make sure they stand the test of time. These bracers wrap around your arms and are secured by two leather straps, finished with beautiful period appropriate buckles that allow you to adjust them to get the optimal fit at all times. While originally inspired by Viking bracers, these are a versatile piece that will suit characters of both a historical and fantastical backstory. These bracers were conceived during a number of experiments with how we alter our steel to make it aesthetically different and suitable for live action role play costumes. While these are a solid pair of bracers, we wouldn’t advise using them for heavy combat involving steel weapons. We feel that the weathered character to them makes them stand out beautifully, and gives them a rugged look sure to turn heads. Optionally, we can substitute the mild steel weathered splints for polished stainless steel - however, we feel that this would change the look and style of this item completely. Date: 1894 Size: 16 x 20 inches (matted) About The Poster: Music sheet from the popular french belle epoque revue Gil Blas, 1890s. Gil Blas was initially published as a supplement in 1891. It was named for the title character of Alain-René Lesage's eighteenth century novel. Theophile Alexandre Steinlen was the chief illustrator and art director from the publication's debut until he resigned at the end of 1900. The journal continued until 1903. A serialized story was cut abruptly in the middle when Gil Blas closed its doors. This vintage print has been detached from the original publication. Only 650 people in human history have left Earth. Fifty years after an astronaut last walked on the moon, the journey is set to begin again. In 2025 the first woman will step on the lunar surface. What will separate these upcoming moonwalkers from the legendary Apollo crews? Does it still take a daring-do attitude, super-human fitness, intelligence, plus the 'Right-stuff' - a fabled grace under pressure? And how will astronauts travel even further - to Mars and beyond? Astronaut Tim Peake takes readers on a thrilling journey through the history of human space travel - and where we are headed to next. From Yuri Gagarin to Neil Armstrong, from the Shuttle crews to the teams on the ISS and at SpaceX, Peake traces the personal stories of the men and women who have forged the way. Full of human drama and astonishing detail only an astronaut would know, the book reveals what life in space is really like: the wondrous view, the surreal weightlessness, the extraordinary danger, the surprising humdrum, the humour, the newfound perspective, the psychological pressures, the gruelling physical toll, the thrill of launch and the trepidation of re-entry. The book also examines the surprising, shocking and often poignant stories of astronaut's lives back on earth, which are forever changed as they readjust to terra firma, emotionally, physically and in their family lives.

Those that travel know that the greatest souvenirs are not tacky trinkets or overpriced memorabilia, but the stories, trivia, and memories. Some people love to travel so much that they've amassed a wealth of knowledge about other countries and their experiences there, and naturally, they share them to anyone that wants to listen. Which is most of the time, because many people find these facts interesting. One of such people is Malachi Ray Rempen, a half-American, half-German born in Switzerland (that's about as international as a birth can get), who creates comics about the things he's seen and heard about many other cultures, their language, and customs. Considering how sensitive the topic is, the author of the comics does pretty well to avoid sounding rude or negative, and portrays his insights in a funny way. Funnily enough, the United States, the leader of the free world, is the most frequent butt of the joke, but that's alright, as Americans are usually able to take some banter. Anyway, here's the "Itchy Feet" comic about "Travel and Language," as the title describes.

Reading about history helps us better understand ourselves and the world around us, but exploring it through visual examples can make our past seem even more real. Like looking at old photographs that let us in on the undoubtedly captivating moments that we may have forgotten or weren't even aware of. However, the color palette we usually associate with these images is a narrow one — black and white. While faded and scratched monochrome photos do have their charm, they can make it difficult for us to relate to the past.
