Hello lovelies,I've had few questions around how close some polishes are to each other. So I've decided to do few comparison pictures to help you decide what polish you really need :) Let's start with creme reds by OPI. I have compared three shades against...

Zoya Pinta - My love for this polish grew and grew... Dupe-ish with OPI Sapphire in the Snow and Orly Wild Wisteria. It is such a gorgeous base for layering polishes. Remember this? CND Raspberry Sparkle on top...
So I decided to do some comparison swatches with the new Brazil shades by OPI to some older OPI polishes which I have in my collection that I thought looked similar. So lets start off with the newe…
Hello my lovelies and happy Sunday! I know I've been slacking in the nail art department but I've been really uninspired lately. Instead I have a lovely spring polish to show you today. I really hope that I can make it up to you with amazing nail art starting next week. When my friend Kinga and I decided to lend each other polishes to try out, it was really hard for me to choose. She has tons of OPI and Nails Inc goodies but since I'm in a spring color mood at the moment I chose something simple. This polish from last year's Euro Centrale collection is one of her favorites so I wanted to see if I had anything similar in my collection and if I absolutely needed this one in my life. She was also very kind and brought me a possible Flormar dupe as a gift. But we'll get to that one in a minute. First let's take a look at the main character of this post. OPI You're Such a Budapest indoors, artificial light OPI You're Such a Budapest is the perfect lilac color. I know there are multiple varieties of lilacs but this is the exact shade that comes to my mind when I think of the flower. It's a slightly more blue toned lilac shade, which makes it both amazing and special. There's also some tiny shimmer in there, but that's barely visible in the bottle and almost invisible on the nail. I tried to photograph it but it was impossible. OPI You're Such a Budapest indoors, artificial light I have to be honest with you and say that I'm not a fan of the formula. It has a thin consistency that makes for a difficult application because even if it's not that sheer it still applies streaky. I know that maybe it's this thin to make the shimmer visible but it's still unnoticeable so I see no justification for the formula. I needed 3 coats to make it look even and by the time I finished I was slightly annoyed due to the struggle it took to avoid the streaks. Durability was great as with all OPI polishes and I took it off 3 days later with no chips and barely any tip wear. I dug through my collection to find shades similar to this one and the ones above are the best I could find. The Flormar Wet Look one is a new addition thanks to Kinga that was kind enough to gift it to me. Let's see how they compare. I did my best to photograph these as accurately as possible. All photos are in direct light with no top coat. From pinkie to index (L-R) we have: Essence A Lovely Secret - This is an old favorite of mine that is now sadly discontinued. It has the same blue toned lilac shade as Budapest but it's darker and with a lot more shimmer. This has a regular brush and is opaque in 2 coats, with one coat being almost enough. OPI You're Such a Budapest - The shade we are trying to dupe. This one has a wide brush and is opaque in 3 coats. There's a bit of shimmer in it but it's not really visible unless in very bright lighting. Barry M Prickly Pear - This is the closest dupe I have for Budapest. Maybe it's not noticeable in the pictures but they aren't 100% the same. Prickly Pear is slightly lighter and less blue toned than Budapest. There's no shimmer at all in this one. Formula-wise they are pretty similar with Prickly Pear needing 3 coats as well. It has a regular brush and dries slower, at least on me. It's something I've noticed with all Barry M Gelly shades I have and I'm not sure what the deal is since nobody else complained about it. Flormar WL04 - This is a very nice new addition to my collection. Compared to Budapest, it's lighter and more pink toned. I'm sure the difference wouldn't even be noticeable to regular people. The formula is very nice and creamy, with 2 coats being enough. It has the wide brush, no shimmer and dries to a great glossy finish. I'm really glad that I got to try You're Such a Budapest and compare it to these other shades. If the formula were a little better, I would have needed it but I see no big difference compared to Barry M Prickly Pear. Frankly I'm not even a big fan of that one either. I'd rather have a polish that only needs 2 coats than one that needs a lot of work and top coat to level out. I'd like to thank Kinga for giving me the Flormar polish. I can see myself using it a lot as a base for nail art because the formula is just amazing. As for You're Such a Budapest, it remains a great shade that I got yo try out and satisfy a craving with.

OPI fall collections are pretty much always my favorite. I was pretty disappointed by the 2015 fall collection, but this most recent collection is really stunning! I love a classic cream polish, and this collection was full of that kind of perfect polish. I didn't pick up all of the polishes, but I did grab my favorite 6 shades from the collection. Swatches Shh... It's Top Secret Two creamy perfect coats. In the bottle it looks like a pretty basic deep brown, but on the nail it becomes a deep vampy brown with cool toned purple undertones. Its like the vampy older sister to classic OPI polishes like I Sao Paolo Over There and You Don't Know Jacques. I can already tell that this polish is going to become one of my new favorite fall vampy shades. Stay Off The Lawn Two creamy perfect coats. I absolutely adore this polish! Potentially taking the place of OPI Christmas Gone Plaid as my favorite green polish ever! Madam President This isn't a super exciting color, but the formula is amazing. This is opaque in one coat, and I didn't even do a thicker coat than normal. If you have a lot of pink shades maybe you can skip this one, but my collection is seriously lacking in pinks so I'm glad to have one with such a perfect formula. By Popular Vote This is a pretty color. It is a basic color. Do I think you need this? No. It has a perfect formula so if pink is your thing then you should pick this color up. I did 2 thin coats for depth of color, but if you do thicker coats this would probably be a 1 coater. We The Female 2 thinner coats were all this polish needed for opacity. I love this color, it is perfect for fall! Unfortunately the formula was kind of meh for me. It wasn't thin or runny at all, but it was kind of gloopy of the second coat and when it dried I had some bubbling :( CIA=Color Is Awesome 2 perfect creamy coats for this stunner. I love this color. Comparisons OPI Shh... It's Top Secret vs OPI Lincoln Park After Dark Shh on middle and pinky fingers, LPAD on pointer and ring fingers. It is hard to tell in the pics, but I promise these are not dupes, but they are so similar that if you aren't a huge fan of deep vampy colors you definitely don't need both. LPAD is much more plummy, while Shh has more grayed out or taupey purple undertones. OPI Stay Off The Lawn vs OPI Jade Is The New Black vs Essie Off Tropic vs China Glaze Exotic Encounters Lawn is on my middle finger, Jade is on my pinky finger, Essie is on my pointer finger and ChG is on my ring finger. These are clearly not dupes, but I love how they look all together. Something worth noting is that all of the comparison polishes have major pigment settling/ugly bottle syndrome. I'm curious to see if Stay Off The Lawn will develop the same ugly bottle syndrome the longer that I have it. OPI Madam President vs China Glaze Fuchsia Fanatic OPI on pointer and ring fingers, ChG on middle and pinky fingers. Admittedly I am not the biggest hot pink fan, so I didn't have much to compare it to but I think this is a very dupable shade. These are clearly not dupes, and I much prefer the OPI for color and formula. OPI By Popular Vote vs OPI Just Beclaus vs OPI Amore At The Grand Canal Vote is on my pointer and ring finger, Beclaus is on my middle finger and Amore is on my pinky. Definitely not dupes, but all 3 are nice, fall appropriate shades with awesome formulas. We The Female vs OPI Just A Little Rosti At This Female on pointer and ring finger. Rosti on middle and pinky. These are straight up dupes, if you have one you really do not need the other. I think Rosti has a slightly better formula, but they are dupe city. Also because the berry/red shades in this collection are pretty similar, here is a comparison of all 3. Female on middle finger, Vote on ring finger and President on pinky. They are thankfully not dupes, but they do look like a pretty gradient all together. CIA=Color Is Awesome vs OPI Ski Teal We Drop vs Painted Polish Tide Pool Teal CIA on pointer and ring finger, Ski on middle finger, and PP on pinky. Ski has more blue in it, even though in the bottles they look very similar. I don't usually include indie polishes in my comparisons, but Tide Pool Teal was a limited edition shade from the summer so if you missed that one, CIA is a dupe. What polishes did you pick up from this collection? Let me know in the comments :) Stay Sparkly, A
I will freely admit that I have an unhealthy addiction to nail polish and I very rarely manage to use up an entire bottle. For this reason, I love purchasing the mini bottles that are often brought out by OPI and Essie, plus it gives me a reason to purchase several different shades from a new collection! The Dutch Treats selection consists of four separate shades, inspired by Holland: I Have A Herring Problem - a shimmering greyed blue Red Lights Ahead... Where? - a bright coral orange/ red cream Kiss Me On My Tulips - A rich, almost purple toned pink cream Pedal Faster Suzi - A shimmering pink with silver sparkles. From the four shades, I found I Have A Herring Problem the most unique, as I don't own anything else similar. Pedal Faster Suzi was the colour I found the least interesting, mainly as I prefer more vibrant, punchy shades and I just don't feel it fitted cohesively with the rest of the collection. Red Lights Ahead...Where? is a gorgeous orange / red hybrid. However I have several dupes for this polish, as seen in the swatches above, and they are all very similar, with subtle nuances only visible when examined very closely in person. Kiss Me On My Tulips is another shade where I had some similar ones in my stash. OPI's Dim Sum Plum is a touch darker whereas Essie Super Bossa Nova has a pearlescent sheen and is pinker. As with other OPI polishes, I get several days wear without any chipping and very minor tip wear. I find OPI's formula to be of medium thickness and very easy to apply. Verdict Whilst not offering any particularly new or earth-shattering shades, I do like this collection and it offers a mixture of cream and shimmer finishes. The stand out shade for me is I Have A Herring Problem, whilst the noticeably weaker shade is Pedal Faster Suzi as it requires at least three coats for opacity and didn't seem to fit with the rest of the collection. Red Lights Ahead... Where? and Kiss Me On My Tulips are both strong shades but you may already have dupes in your collection as they are not particularly unique. 3.5/5 Price - £12.95 Where to Buy - Lena White, HQ Hair Beauty Bay, John Lewis
Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between Big Apple Red and Thrill of Brazil, two beautiful red nail polishes from OPI!
TWELFTH STREET BY CYNTHIA VINCENT DRESS I am in love with this dress. Sadly it is sold out in small. I have googled it to no avail and can only find it on Shopbop and all they have is a large and petite! Can someone find it for me in a small? That would be great because cobalt blue is one of my favorite colors and I could see my self wearing this all the time! UP ALL NIGHT Anyone else catch this show last week? It was hilarious or maybe I just thought it was extra funny because I have a baby and can totally relate. The cast is perfection: Will Arnett, Christina Applegate and Mya Rudolph, they are all freaking hilarious. Modern Family has some new competition! CHINA MIST ORGANIC JASMINE GREEN TEA WITH PEACH Holy crap this tea is good. I had some at the Farmers Market Sunday and promptly bought a box. It is the best iced tea. The peach flavor is subtle but it pairs perfectly with the green tea. I am such a green tea freak I drink it everyday. Not sure if they sell this at Earthfare or Whole Foods but if you live in Charleston you can get it at the Marion Square Farmers Market. OPI WILLIAM TELL ME ABOUT IT NAIL POLISH There is nothing I love more than a great dark red/burgundy nail color for the Fall. I think this might be my new favorite nail polish, it is the perfect fall shade. GREEK KEY BEDDING My girl Chassity first introduced me to this fabulous blog, Live Like You and I am smitten with it. Well turns out Jill Sorensen, the author of the blog, just came out with her own gorgeous bedding line. I love the modern clean look of this bedding. Especially paired with an upholstered headboard. I would love something like this my guest bedroom. Jill's prices are super affordable and the bedding comes in a variety of colors. You can pre-order the bedding HERE. photos curtesy of: Tanya Malott
OPI Germany collection includes two shades which in the images provided by the manufacturer look basically the same, one of them is supposed to be burgundy, the other one plum according to the colour description. To make matters more complicated, it seems that some batches of the collection had their labels swapped which resulted in total mess as to which one is which. I consulted a number of renowned reviewers including Scrangie and The PolishAholic and others and each time descriptions differed. When I was making my order I wanted to get the plum one, not because I didn't like the other one, but because it seemed strangely familiar to something I had in my stash. This was hit or miss with 50%chance of winning. And, as usual, I lost. German-Icure is a gorgeous nail polish. And I believe the burgundy in the description is highly misleading. To my eye it's red-toned brown with warm shimmer. It seems to glow from within! To my surprise the first coat was very sheer, runny and streaky, but the second coat miraculously evened out everything and I left it at that. As I said the formula was a bit sheer and runny but more optically than flood-the-nail kind watery. The brush, as with all OPI polishes is big and fanned out. Slightly too big perhaps. Suits me fine but I imagine this might be an issue for some people. It's a beautiful polish, if you like vampy shades and don't have anything like it in your stash you definitely need this one. l-r: Orly Golden Maharaja, Opi German-Icure, Illamasqua Scarab, Zoya Blair, Nail Tek Maroon The trouble is that I was able to come up with a number of perfect, nearly perfect and not-so-perfect dupes from my own shelf. Have look at the series of pictures below, the first three shades from the left display an unnerving similarity, don't they? The other two are not that close but they look very much alike in their bottles and they match the manufacturer's description of a burgundy shade much better than German-Icure itself. l-r: Orly Golden Maharaja, Opi German-Icure, Illamasqua Scarab, Zoya Blair, Nail Tek Maroon On the thumb you can see Orly Golden Maharaja, which I always thought more chocolatey brown but to my surprise it was sooo similar. A tiny bit more brown than German-Icure. On my index finger German-Icure. On the middle one Illamasqua Scarab. This shade is a perfect dupe, the only difference being that it seemed more matte, even though I treated it with a top coat. On my ring finger you can see Zoya Blair, which is a distant match though, as I said, it looks very similar in the bottle. While German-Icure is red-toned brown, Blair is burgundy which shimmer. On the pinkie there's Nail Tek Maroon is exactly the same as Zoya Blair. l-r: Orly Golden Maharaja, Opi German-Icure, Illamasqua Scarab, Zoya Blair, Nail Tek Maroon l-r: Opi German-Icure, Illamasqua Scarab, Zoya Blair, Nail Tek Maroon Disclaimer: I bought the product myself for my personal use and I am not affiliated with any company. I am not paid to do this review and everything I said here is my genuine opinion.
