Hello and welcome to a brand new Color Throwdown Challenge! This week Lisa is our hostess and she has some seasonal colors for us based on the primitive pumpkins in her inspiration piece. I created a simple little scene within a Stitched Dome STAX Die-namics cut out using pumpkins from BB Witch Way Is the Candy? stamp set colored with Copic markers and a sentiment from Best Witches stamp set. I used Eerie Tree Die-namics, Grassy Fields Die-namics, and clouds from Beach Scene Builder Die-namics. The sky was sponged with Lemon Chiffon and Cement Gray dye inks and I finished off with some matching enamel dots. And that’s it from me! Hi Everyone!! Welcome to A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop ....A Gift For Fall! This is a lovely pumpkin ...just perfect for the upcoming fall season!! Here are all the wonderful products in this kit! But then...for the first time...Stampin'Up! offered an add- on to the gift giving kit....additional cards with envelopes! Which is equally cute and versatile!! So since this is a Blog Hop about alternative projects....here are a couple of things I made! Taking the yellow flap from one of the envelopes and use it for some pretty DSP. Add some of the wonderful elements from the original kit. I absolutely love the colors and textures of these elements. The purple leaves were a tan color...so I sponged some Merry Merlot to give it a fallish feeling. Layer with merry Merlot and Crumb Cake and you have a lovely full size card. Don't forget the inside!! So now onto a gift bag.... We have a very large family and meet for everyone's Birthday....so many times our gift of choice...especially for the guys we give the gift of money and a bag of yummy candy! So this bag is just perfect for that type of gift. And instead of just your typical card and envelope...here is a card ON the bag...just a little something different! Using a post card size piece of Merry Merlot..and the Classic Label punch...cut a slot in the top of the post card. Add to the bag front with dimensionals on each corner. Now you can add a darling note card made from one of the add on cards...I LOVE this wreath!! The colors are stunning! Next I took on of the envelopes with that pretty colored spring....cut the top off and folded it to make a gift card or money holder. Covered nicely by the wreath note card. Just pull the card from the slot and your recipient will see your personal greetings. Cute and multi purpose! I want that gift!! (wink, wink!!) And of course there is candy in the bag!! We will be using the wood grain paper that is printed on the inside. 2- Use 3 of the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the corresponding papers. Envelope Wood Grain Paper - 3 3/4" x 5 1/8" White side of the card base - 3" x 4 5/16" Trees from the card base - 2 5/8" x 4" center the trees in the rectangle Run these through a Big Shot or other die cutting machine 3- Adhere the wood grain rectangle to the card using snail adhesive and place it int the center of your Early Espresso card base. 4- Next add the white rectangle at a slight angle in the center of the card with snail adhesive. 5- On the Cherry Cobble strip flag each end of the strip with a pair of paper snips. 6- Break down the fibers of the strip of cardstock with a bone folder 7- Add snail to the back of the Tree cardstock along the long side of the rectangle. Add the Cherry Cobbler paper starting from the top left with about 1" of paper showing. Then move the paper behind the trees at an angle, when about 1" is showing on the right side bend the paper at an angle to go back behind the trees. Do the same on the left side and then finish the "ribbon" paper with the end poking out on the right bottom. If you only have 11" of cardstock you can cut it in half and leave a gap on the back. 8- Place dimensionals on the back and adhere it to the front of the card at a slight angle. 9- Add the shimmery crystal effects on both trees, along the snow drifts on the trees. Place to the side to dry. 10- On the small piece of Pool Party cardstock stamp a greeting from the kit in Night of Navy ink. Use a small stitched rectangle die (1 11/16" x 1 3/16") to cut it out with a big shot. 11- Stamp over one of the left-facing cut-out birds that come in the kit and with the matching bird stamp in Cherry Cobbler ink. You can do this a couple times to make it nice and dark. 12- Once your card is dry adhere the greeting at a slight angle to the bottom left of the tree cardstock with snail adhesive. 13- Add the bird with a glue dot to the top right of the greeting. Add some gold metallic pearls to the tops of the trees and a couple around the greeting. All Done! Card #2 Blue & Green Woods Scene 1- With a paper cutter cut down the tree side of the card base to 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" This will leave a tiny border. 2- Create a frame with the Vellum Cardstock by using the stitched rectangle dies and cut them out with the big shot. Outside: 3 3/4" x 5 1/8" Inside: 2 5/8" x 4" 3- Trim the trees from the bottom snow of one of the tree cut-outs. We won't be using the trees on this card, but keep them for a future card. Keep the inside area! 4- Stamp your choice of greeting on the Pool Party Label that is in the kit. 5- Using the Stamparatus stamp three snowflakes on the shimmery white paper that is the middle extra piece between the tree cut-outs from the kit. You will need the Stamparatus because you will need to stamp it a couple times to get a nice dark color. Begin by placing the foam pad in the stamparatus and then place the shimmery white paper where you want it with the magnets holding it down (make sure to keep the magnets separated so they don't shatter, I have seen it happen!) Next, place the stamp between the branches of the trees, it will fit, just move it around until you can find the correct placement so you can get all three snowflakes on this paper. See image. 6- Once it is in the right place, close the hinged plate over the stamp to pick it up. 7- Ink it with the Night of Navy ink pad and stamp it. Repeat 3 times to get a nice dark image. 8- Clean the stamp and remove it from the clear plate. Place it next to the first stamped image on the shimmery white paper. Make sure it is close enough that you can get a third image. Move the magnets if needed. 9- Pick it up with the clear plate. Then ink and stamp three times like before. 10- Fussy cut all three snowflakes with your paper snips. This will take some time. 11- Now that we have all the elements we can put the card together. First add the trees to the Night of Navy card base with some snail adhesive. 12- Add the vellum frame to the center of the card. I used glue dots in each corner - one in the outside corner and one on the inside corner. 13- Add the shimmery crystal effects on both trees, along the snow drifts on the trees. Place to the side to dry. 14- At the bottom of the trees add the snow that we removed from the trees with some snail. I placed it so some of the vellum frame shows at the bottom and the top of the snow touches the base of the trees. Make sure the shimmery side is up. 15- With liquid glue, adhere the snowflakes around the card. I placed on in the top right corner, one in the bottom right corner and one above the snow on the left of the trees. 16- Place some snail on the back of the greeting. Wrap the ribbon/twine around your hand to create a circle of twine. Lay it down and shape the get it looking the way you want. Then place the greeting on top to adhere the twine to the back. 17- Turn it over and tuck in any ends. Place dimensionals over the twine to help adhere it. 18- Place the greeting at the bottom of the card. 19- Add the sliver metallic pearls to the center of each snowflake and a couple around the greeting. Learn how to use the exclusive stamp set and supplies from the October 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit to create a total of 28-30 Christmas cards!

The woodgrain paper that came inside of the Winter Woods October 2019 Paper Pumpkin envelopes is so rich and pretty & looks amazing when embossing with white. ~Enjoy! After I stamped the overall snow stamp with Versamark and White Embossing Powder, I wanted a little lighter coverage of snow so I went back over it with a Q-tip & strategically removed some of the dots before heat embossing. The banner is cut from Pool Party & stamped with Pool Party & the overall snowy stamp with hand cut fishtails & an edge that has been roughed up with scissors. The sentiment banner was cut into thirds & layered behind the snowy banner. The Sentiment is stamped with Early Espresso over a pool Party snowflake on Whisper White and then embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder. It was then edged with the silver edge from the envelopes and topped with one of the cute little cardinals. The whole things is them topped off with the Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon. Stamp randomly around the border. 2- On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock stamp the Holly leaves again in Garden Green 3- On the small white banner from the kit stamp the greeting "Let it snow" in Garden Green 4- Using dimensionals add the Pool Party gradient large rectangle piece from the kit to the center of the cardbase. Make sure the darker side is at the top. 5- Cut off the ring from the Pine Tree tag and then adhere it to the left side of the Pool Party gradient piece. 6- Add the Silver Deer with dimensionals to the right of the tree. You want the feet are near the bottom and the neck is slightly coming off the edge of the Pool Party gradient piece. 7- Center the greeting on the thin Real Red strip from the kit. Then add the Linen Thread wrapped on the back of the greeting. 8- Fussy cut the stamped Holly Leaves. Don't worry about the berries, 9- Add the leaves to the top right corner of the greeting. 10- Add the greeting element over the Deer's legs with dimensionals. Make sure you can still see it's feet. 11- Add some sequins. Card #2 - Two Pine Trees 1- Add a scrap piece of cardstock with some adhesive to the back of the hole on the snowy tag so the circle doesn't come out. 2- Then trim the bottom corners so they are similar to the top. 3- Use the Triple Banner Punch and punch out the Garden Green 2" strip on one side. 4- Cut one Pine Tree into 2 trees. Remove the circle from the top. Measure 2" from the bottom of the tree this is where we will start reshaping the tree. Then measure above this line 0.5" this is where we want the top of the tree to stop. Take a pencil and roughly draw how you want to reshape the top of the tree. 5- Cut along your drawn line. Try not to remove any of the tree from the smaller top tree. 6- Adhere the smaller tree to the right of the snowy tag. There will be a hole in the bottom of this tree. We will be covering this area with the greeting. 7- Using dimensionals add the larger tree to the left of the tag. 8- Wrap 20" of Linen Thread to the flat side of the Garden Green 2" strip and tie a bow. 9- With Pool Party Ink stamp the small snowflakes randomly on the Pool Party cardbase. 10- Stamp the greeting "Let it snow" with Pool Party ink on the white strip from the kit. Adhere a thin strip of Silver paper behind the greeting. 11- From the Farmhouse style circle snowflake card in a previous post (http://creativechelsey.blogspot.com/2019/11/two-farmhouse-style-handmade-cards.html) I had cut off a 0.5" strip. I am using this strip now. If you don't have this strip you can just cut a Real Red strip of cardstock to 0.5" x 2.75" 12- Use the Triple Banner punch to cut out one side of the Real Red strip 13- To assemble- Begin by adding the Garden Green strip with dimensionals near the bottom of the card. Leave about 0.5" from the edge. 14- Adhere the Snowy Tag with snail at the bottom and dimensionals at the top. Place it about an 1" from the left of the card and near the bottom. 15- Tuck in the Real Red strip between the trees. Covering the hole in the smaller tree. 16- Add the greeting with dimensionals over the Real Red strip. You want to see some of the red, so don't cover it completely. 17- Add 2 of the small snowflakes in the kit and some sequins. All done! There was so much to do with the January 2019 Paper Pumpkin Kit, Be Mine Valentine, the cards just kept-a-comin' ! I have a few more alternatives to show, but this is more about the leftovers - what to do with all of those little its & pieces laying on your table. We all know we are all hoarders at heart! ~Enjoy This card uses all those little trimmed straight line box flaps. I cut them into fourths and angled the edges. Then I just started with a Pool Party North, South, East, West marks. I added a Melon Mambo on either side of the Pool Party, and kept building form there. I did not worry about the angles & if they matched or were different and some overlap more than others - this card is NOT for the OCD at heart. The strips, circle, heart doggie "tag"and sentiment are from the Jan19 PP kit, the doggie is from Bella & Friends and the pink ribbon is from my stash. Bella was highlighted with Stampin' Blends. A special shout out to Jeanne Ciolli for the inspiration on the baby roo in the pouch. This one was so fast - I just could not wrap my head around the kangaroo for Valentine's Day & was always thinking more baby. Again, these were all scraps on my table - already cut - I just had to arrange them & stick it all together - and I LOVE this card!!! The baby sentiment is from Wonderful Moments & the congratulations is from a retired set - but the font matches perfectly! The white ribbon if from my stash and the Bermuda Bay Glimmer Paper is from the retired Myths & Magic set. I sponged Pool Party onto the reverse of the red heart from the kit for the heart on the belly. The pink version of the baby card is made with retired Pink Pirouette embossed with Falling Leaves. The baby sentiment is from Wonderful Moments & the congratulations is from a retired set. The circle is edge sponged with Melon Mambo as well as the hearts, cut with a retired heart punch (the backside is the Pool Party leftovers from the circle dies cuts). The hand cut fishtail banners were just lying on the table, the only thing I had to go get was some cardstock for the hand cut sentiment. This card is so much cuter in person & sparkly! The background is embossed with the Subtle embossing folder. Really the only thing from the kit is the sentiment & the paper for the Pool Party hearts. The sentiment is done with the ribbon wave technique. The ribbon and punch are retired - but who doesn't have a ribbon & heart punches in their stash?! So simple & so cute!!! I was really struggling with what to do with those little rounded corner pieces trimmed off the box - after the big hits with the lips card, everything else seemed ho-hum. I did play around with flowers at one point - but they were not coming together. When I was done with all the cards - I only had the notched pieces left - what if I cut them in half and used all the circle dies cuts leftover as the center - eureka! The sentiment is from Country Home & the flourish is from the retired Detail Deer's antlers. Here is how I pieced the items together. I first taped together the notched pieces on either side of the notch, then I cut that in half & adhered them to the back of the circle die cut. I alternated that technique to add the leaves. Here are some other ides I played with, but did not make the final cut This last card started out with the little half pieces of the flaps trimmed off the treat boxes and the reason I only had notched pieces to work with above. It started off looking ocean, palm tree, vacation-y. I cut the circle in half just to do something different and applied a knot instead of my usual bow. The background was too plain so I punched some dots to add interest. It sat on my desk for a while waiting for inspiration to strike. My neighbor from when I was a child reconnected recently on FB. A few weeks ago her husband passed (and we are relatively young), so I guess she was on my mind. As I started playing with the pieces of this card I started to get emotional, because there was so much symbolism in it. The knot represents their marriage and the circle cut in half represents their parting. I know he is safe now and I pray that she and her teenage son are well. Shop Stampin' Up! products here!
