Getting There We took the Swan Quarter Ferry for only $15 each way. This was a closer drive of the ferries from the Triangle Area of NC. There is another one from Cedar Island or you can drive all the way to Hatteras Island and take a free 45-minute ferry ride. We took the free ferry to Hatteras for a day trip. Things to See When you get off the ferry there is a free Preservation Society Museum right there with some history of the island and a gift shop. There is also Teach’s Hole which is a Blackbeard exhibit and pirate shop. Ocracoke Lighthouse Jim Steveson’s Nature Tail – a Small easy hike that leads to the beach. Restaurants Howard’s Pub & Raw Bar We had a few trips to Ocracoke Coffee Co. The crescent donuts and Cinnamon Roll Soufflé was delicious. Dajio’s has it all Bar, Pizza, Restaurant, Courtyard. All of the food we had was delicious especially the crab cakes and crab Mac and cheese. Eduardo’s Taco Stand has delicious authentic Mexican style tacos and breakfast burritos. I was also really hoping to try Graceful Bakery and Flying Melon, but they weren’t open yet for the season when we went. Drinks Zillie’s Island Pantry 1718 Brewing

In fact, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is commonly referred to as “America’s Lighthouse”. It's also the tallest in the nation! Whether you're road trippin' through the Outer Banks, exploring the Cape Fear beaches & Brunswick Islands or adventuring to the Crystal Coast - North Carolina has several beautiful lighthouses to see! We've listed them here from North to South - Currituck Beach Lighthouse, Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Ocracoke Lighthouse, Cape Lookout Lighthouse, Old Baldy Lighthouse and Oak Island Lighthouse. 1.
