Tout au long de son ministère, Jésus a enseigné de nombreuses paraboles pour expliquer une vérité biblique. Cette semaine, nous étudierons celle de qui se trouve dans Luc 18:1-8 et qui nous enseigne la prière.
The Bible says that no one knows the day that Jesus is coming back! This little clock is great for any age. It really doesn’t matter if the kids put the number in the correct order or not bec…
This craft can be used to illustrate different characteristics of the church. The church, those that have been saved repentance and by faith in Christ, is the body of Christ. “Let the peace o…
(Matthew 22: 15-22) The lesson today is about the story of when the Pharisees try to trick Jesus into taking sides. They are upset about the amount of taxes that are forced upon them by Caesar, so they try to get Jesus to join with them and say it is unfair. Jesus knows if he sides with the people, Caesar will put him in jail, but if he sides with Caesar, the people will think he is a traitor. Therefore, he tells them to show him a coin. When they do so, he points out that it is Caesar's picture on the coin, thereby showing that it is Caesar's money. He says to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." We talked today about what things belong to God. How do we know they are God's? What should we give back to God and how do we do that? Of course, this opened up a wonderful discussion that took many directions. We covered topics such as tithing, charity, neighborly love, kindness, sacrifice, blessings, and personal responsibilities to family and community. We ended up concluding that everything belongs to God! Our craft today was to make coins representing what we give back to God. I asked the children to draw pictures of things they possess that they can give back to God. We made coins once before with The Widow's Mite lesson. This time I wanted the coins to be larger to give the children plenty of room to draw. Materials needed: u Wooden circles (I could only find button shapes. They came from Michaels for a few cents per button. I'll show you how to get rid of the button holes below.) u Circle stickers u Candy foil wrappers (also found at Michaels) u Sharpie or tool of choice to draw picture on foil Instructions: 1) Give each child one button, two sheets of foil, a pen and two stickers. 2) Ask the children to put a sticker on each side of the button to cover up the button holes. This will prevent the holes from showing through the finished product. 3) Wrap one sheet of foil around one side of the coin. 4) Wrap the other sheet over the other side. This is the top. 5) Instruct the kids to draw a picture of something they have been blessed with that they can give back to God. VERSES: Acts 11:19-30 MEMORY VERSE: Acts 11:26 "...And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch." BOOK TO REMEMBER: Review the first eight books of the New testament, making certain that all students have a firm handling of the names of the books and can say them in Biblical order. PRAYER: Thank God for His plan of salvation and that the Gospel is for all people. Thank God that we can worship him freely and not be afraid. SPECIAL SONG: How Do Christians Worship God? (See May 2014 - Songs We Sing In Bible Class #5 on this blog. Click orange circle for tune.) VISUAL AID: Bible map show, showing Jerusalem, Phoenicia, Cyprus, Antioch, Tarsus, Judea. Large Activity (see below) LESSON POINTS: In many countries today, there is religious freedom and people can worship God freely. This has not always been the case. Ever since Stephen had been stoned for preaching about Jesus and had died, the church was persecuted. (See May 2015 - Lesson - The Stoning Of Stephen). We remember that even Saul helped in this persecution before he was baptized (Acts 8:1, 3). Because of the church being persecuted, the believers in Jesus scattered to escape the bad things that were happening in Jerusalem. When we look on the map (show Bible map), the disciples scattered from Jerusalem to Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch. The ones who went to these cities only preached to the Jews. We learned when Cornelius was baptized into Christ and that he was the first Gentile (or non-Jewish) person that had been preached to and obeyed the gospel. We remember that Peter preached to him and all of his family and friends and many were baptized because of Peter's preaching. (See June 2015 - Lesson - The Conversion of Cornelius on this blog.) From that time until now, the gospel is for ALL people, Jews and Gentiles. Some of the disciples were from Cyprus and Cyrene and, when they came to the city of Antioch, they preached about Jesus to the Grecians and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord. When the church in Jerusalem heard about what was happening in cities far away from Jerusalem, they sent Barnabas to help and preach to them. Do we remember anything about this man named Barnabas? When Saul escaped from Damascus by being let down the wall in a basket and went to Jerusalem, all the disciples were afraid of him. They thought he was still persecuting Jesus' disciples. But who stood up for Saul and took him to the apostles and gave Saul the opportunity to tell them how he had spoken to Jesus on the road to Damascus? Barnabas! Barnabas had not been afraid of Saul and was Saul's friend. So now, it was this same man, Barnabas who was sent by the church to go preach about Jesus to the ones in Antioch and all along the way. Barnabas preached to many people and they were baptized and added to the church. Do you know what Barnabas did next? He traveled to Tarsus and looked for his friend, Saul and brought him back to Antioch, too! They stayed in Antioch for a whole year, worshiped with the church, and taught many people about Jesus. It was here in Antioch that the disciples were called by a new name. They were called Christians. When a man named Agabus was filled with the Holy Spirit and foretold of a terrible famine that would be coming in the days of a Caesar named Claudius, the disciples sent Barnabas and Saul with money to give to the brethren who lived in Judea for this coming disaster. "Older Student" Tips: Just as the believers and disciples of Jesus were called Christians in the book of Acts, people who have heard the Word (Romans 10:17), believed in Jesus (Acts 8:13), repented of their sins (Acts 2:38), confessed Jesus as the Christ (Acts 8:37), and are baptized for the remission of their sins (Acts 8:38, 39) are called Christians today. This lesson tells us why Christians are called 'Christians.' It is not a made up name or a name that men have voted among themselves to called; it is a name that was in God's mind and in His plan. There is book, chapter, and verse for believers in Christ to be called "Christian." Read Acts 11:26 again. In Isaiah 56:5 and 62:2, Isaiah foretold the time when believers would have a new name. In Acts 11:26, we find out that new name: Christian. The word Christian is only found three times in the Bible. Acts 11:26, Acts 26:28, and 1 Peter 4:16. ACTIVITY: A New Name Materials needed: 9" x 12" black construction paper, 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" white bond paper (this is a half-sheet of typing paper), 2" x 7" yellow construction paper, scraps of different colored paper, scissors, markers, crayons, glue. Hand out black paper. Fold black paper in half. Turn black paper, so that the long, open sides are at the bottom and fold is at the top. Hand out yellow paper. Write "A NEW NAME" and "Acts 11:26" on yellow paper. Glue yellow paper to front of black paper. Unfold black paper. Hand out different colored scraps of paper. On nine different colors of scrap paper, write "...And," "the," "disciples," "were." "called," "Christians," "first," "at," "Antioch." Assemble the words on the black paper in order. Glue the words to the black paper. Re-fold black paper and turn the paper over to the back side. Hand out white paper. Show students how to draw a very rough outline on the white paper. Or copy the outline below and hand out to students. This outline does not need to be perfect; it only needs to show the highlighted areas on the map.(Don't forget the island of Cyprus!) Write "Mediterranean Sea." "Tarsus." "Antioch," "Phoenicia," "Jerusalem," and "Cyprus" in proper areas. It is OK to look at the Bible map in a Bible. Color map. Glue map to back of the black paper. Before students leave the classroom, make certain the words are glued in order inside the black paper and the cities and areas are in the right places on the map.
An engaging way to teach the genealogy of Jesus from Matthew 1.
VERSES: Matthew 5:1-12 MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." BOOK TO REMEMBER: 2 Thessalonians. Write "2 Thessalonians" on small slips of paper and hand out to the students at the end of class to take home and memorize. PRAYER: Pray that we all might show that we are following Christ by the way we act and the way to talk. May we always think about the beatitudes and live our lives in a way that may imitate the beatitudes. SPECIAL SONG: Be Patient And Kind (see April - Lesson - Joseph Meets His Brothers Who Hated Him for lyrics to song. Click on orange circle to hear tune.) VISUAL AID: Draw a picture of the Activity below on the whiteboard or chalkboard. LESSON POINTS: The news that Jesus could heal people from their sicknesses spread quickly around the area where Jesus was preaching, places like Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. Sometimes the crowds of people grew so large that Jesus needed to be alone and went to the wilderness for a short time, but there were other times when the people crowded around him and Jesus placed himself in a better position, so the people could hear him better. We just studied about the time that Jesus went into a ship and talked to the people on the shore. This is an example of how Jesus sat in a better place to teach the people. In our lesson today, Jesus saw that there were many people following Him and listening to what He was preaching and teaching, so He went up into a mountain. When he was ready and sitting down, his disciples went to Him, and he began to teach them. Some people call his preaching on that particular day "The Sermon On The Mount." On that day, Jesus taught the people about how to live the way God wanted them to live and the attitude that they should have towards other people. Some people call the first few verses in Matthew chapter 5 "The Beatitudes" because Jesus told the people to behave in a certain way and have their minds set on a better way to live. He said that his followers would be blessed or happy if they believed and did the things that He said. "Older Student" Tips: Some of specific things that Jesus said were: "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." People who are poor in spirit are not proud or think they are better than anyone else. They treat everyone just the same. People who are poor in spirit are the people will be in the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." People who mourn or are sad because there is so much sin and disobedience to God in the world are promised that they shall be comforted. "Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." To be meek means to have strength under control. Remember Moses was meek. "Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." This does not mean physically hungry. It means that people who are hungry and are thirsting for righteousness or doing right, just as they would be hungry for food, will be filled up. "Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy." People who are compassionate to the point that they have a desire to help others will find that same mercy. "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." People who have unpolluted hearts that are free from sin-which comes from obeying God (1 Peter 1:22)-will see God. "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." People who bring peace to others, whether they are soothing others in stressful situations or bringing others to Christ will be called the children of God because God, their Father, would do the same. "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Those who are troubled because they are doing right will have a home in heaven. "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my name's sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in heaven..." There is a heavenly reward waiting for the obedient children of God who are mistreated because they are trying to do what God wants them to do. ACTIVITY: Sermon On The Mount Materials Needed: 9" x 12" light blue construction paper, 4" x 12" green construction paper, 4" x 6" dark brown construction paper, 3" x 12" tan construction paper, 2" x 6" tan construction paper, crayons, marker, glue, scissors. Hand out light blue paper. Hand out green paper. Tear top edge of green paper. This is the mount. Glue green paper to bottom of light blue paper. Hand out dark brown paper. Tear dark brown paper into a rock. Glue rock in the middle of the green paper. Hand out long strip of tan paper. Draw and color the heads and shoulders of people. Cut the people out. Glue the people to the bottom of the green paper. Hand out small tan paper. Draw and color Jesus on small tan paper. Fold Jesus' feet to the back of Jesus' body. Fold about 1/4" above Jesus' feet fold line to make knees. Glue Jesus to rock to make it look like Jesus is sitting on the rock. Write "The Sermon On The Mount" and "Matthew 5" at the top of the light blue paper. Write "Blessed are they..." into a speech bubble close to Jesus (see picture at top).
For some reason, the lectionary has given us three consecutive weeks on Jesus the living bread in John 6, so here is something to help children to engage with what can be quite an abstract concept! You will need: 2 copies of the printable sheet, card, glue, a laminator (optional) Print off the sheet here (or here if you would prefer pictures with labels) Cut out the pictures individually and glue them to pieces of card so that the picture can't be seem through the back. I also laminated mine to make them more long lasting (I intend to make good use of them!) Lay the cards face down and take it in turns to turn two cards over. If your cards match, keep the pair. If they don't match, turn them over again and wait for your next turn to try again. The person who has the most pairs at the end of the game is the winner. Talk about: Can you name the different types of bread? Which one do you like most? Which have you never tried? What do we use the different types of bread for? Why do we eat bread? Why do you think there is a picture of Jesus here? What do you think Living Bread means? What do you think eternal life is like? These questions might help to open up a discussion about how bread feeds us physically, but Jesus strengthens and feeds us in other ways. You might also like to use the bread intercessions when you have played this game.
Jesus rejected at Nazareth interactive Bible story for kids based on Luke 4:14-30. DIY scroll included.
This is a lovely activity to help children to reflect on who Jesus is and to explore how they relate to him. We did it when we were exploring what praise was with 3 classes in our local infant school (ranging in age from 4-7) and each class added to the poster as we went along. I must add that this is a church school, so children do have some knowledge of Christianity as a starting point. Making the poster does involve finger paint. so have some wet wipes or hand washing facilities available! You will need: Felt tip pens, a large sheet of paper (e.g. wallpaper backing) with 'Jesus' written on it in big letters, post it notes, finger paints Ask children to think about what they would say if they were telling someone about their amazing friend Jesus and to write or draw it on a post it note. stick all of the post it notes onto the big poster When they have all added to the poster share the things that people have written or drawn and invite children to add a finger print as a sign of their 'amen' or 'I agree' in celebration of who Jesus is and the amazing things he does.

Mark 8:27-38 I found something on Pinterest that I thought was extremely cool: The Puzzle Project started by Jeff Kelly, Sandy Taylor, and Marie Maber. One day maybe I will send off for my own puzzle piece and join their collection, but for now, I think it's a great exercise to go along with today's lesson. I pulled up The Puzzle Project website and talked to the kids about the originators and their traveling project after we talked about the above scripture and Jesus' words. We then talked about who we are spiritually. I asked, "What kind of a person are you? What is important to you?" I encouraged the kids to draw something they felt strongly about. Materials: Card Stock Puzzle Template (free download from clipartbest.com) Scissors Pencil & eraser Markers and/or other decorative items Pre-Class Prep: Print one puzzle piece for each child onto the cardstock. Cut out the pieces so they will be ready for the kids to decorate. I originally tried using art board for the puzzle pieces because there has been a large stack of it in the classroom at church for years. I thought this would be a good way to use it up. Wrong! Ideally, yes, the art board would be more sturdy... but it is very difficult to cut without slanting the edges in various directions which will alter the way the pieces fit together. I spent hours trying to get clean, straight cuts through the full thickness of the board to no avail. I finally gave up and went to card stock. The downside to card stock is it curls slightly when completely covered in markers. All in all, it was fine. I used ample tape on the backside to hold each piece flat against the wall. If anyone finds something better than card stock, please leave a comment below. This is my test piece: I allowed the kids to use whatever materials they wanted. The resulting textures were a nice touch. TIP: I made the mistake of handing out the pieces in the same orientation to each child. Some pictures will end up upside down or facing one side or the other in order to get them to fit together unless the kids have different sides as top and bottom. For example: looking at the first picture in this post, one will notice the piece I decorated is positioned sideways on the wall. As more children add their pieces, I will spin their piece around before they decorate it so everyone can have their artwork right side up.
