Tule Rug by Caralarga Dimensions: D 100 x H 100 cm Materials: 100% repurposed raw cotton thread, 100% cotton lining. Handmade Caralarga is a textile design and production workshop inspired by nature’s raw materials; we seek to preserve their essence and accentuate their qualities by transforming them into high quality artisanal pieces. Through our designs, we want to convey the value of our hands and highlight the natural beauty of each material. We like things as they are and we believe that a simple world is better; this is the source of our inspiration. Our main resources are raw cotton threads and textile waste discarded for tiny production errors. In 2014, we found in these materials the possibility to rethink and explore waste as a medium to create unique, timeless and sustainable jewellery and apparel pieces. Our creative evolution has also lead us to the discovery of other natural materials, such as the fiber extracted from the sansevieria plant and recycled bull horn, working hand in hand with the artisans who have preserved the knowledge regarding ancient techniques and the protection of nature. Our pieces of Caralarga Large and Medium Format are the result of the natural development of our initial work doing textile jewellery. We ventured into creating larger, more complex pieces, and we found a new way of working raw cotton and hand braiding; culminating in interior decor pieces that seek to transform spaces through timeless designs that highlight the kindness of raw materials.

If you are or know someone from New Mexico or just love New Mexico this is the the perfect item. New Mexico's distinctive insignia is the Zia Sun symbol, which originated with the Indians of Zia Pueblo in ancient times. It's design reflects their tribal philosophy, with it's wealth of pantheistic spiritualism teaching the basic harmony of all things in the universe. Four is the sacred number of Zia and the figure is composed of a circle from which four points radiate. These points made up of four straight lines of varying length personify the number most often used by the Giver of all good gifts. To the Zia Indian, the sacred number four is embodied in the earth, with its four directions, north, south, east, west; in the year, with its four seasons, summer, fall, winter, spring; in the day, with the morning, noon, evening and night; in life, with it's four divisions, childhood, youth, manhood and old age. Everything is bound together in a circle of life and love, without beginning, without end. The Zia believe that in this great brotherhood of all things, man has four sacred obligations: he must develop a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit and a devotion to the welfare of his people.
