Cats or dogs? I love both, but there's just something about a soft warm kitty on your lap that melts my heart. So when I saw the Nine Lives stamp set, I knew I had to have it. Here's my first play with it to inspire all you cat lovers (or friends of cat lovers!)--- Isn't that sweet? I especially love the sentiments in this set. I stamped my kitty in black and added more color with a Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends marker. These are some other color combinations I played with. The kitty is a 2-step stamp. You can stamp just the outline of the kitty, or you can add a second stamp to make your kitty have patches or tiger stripes. The Calico (upper left) was stamped in black then I added patches of orange with a Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends marker. I've been using my new Rectangle Stitched Framelits a lot. Here I used the largest rectangle to cut a layer of Calypso Coral to frame my card. A kitty shouldn't be left hanging in mid-air, so a few strokes of Light Pool Party gives him a nice place to sit. This is Buddy - my inspiration! He loves a new box of Stampin' Up almost as much as I do... A simple cat card... and a stepped-up version for the more avid crafter. For the simple version, I left the Big Shot in the craft room and stuck to stamps, ink and paper. However, I did make the cat into a tabby using the clever two-step stamps in the Nine Lives stamp set. I stamped in Gray Granite and added just a tiny touch of Pool Party around the base. For the stepped-up version, I coloured the cat using Stampin’ Blends and cut out my layers using the fabulous new Rectangle Stitched Framelits. I used Braided Trim instead of Linen Thread, added a background of Wood Textures DSP and finished off with some sequins. Which one do you prefer?

I spotted this design by Lee Ann Greff and fell in love with it. Red, black and white have always been a favorite combination of mine. Thank you Lee Ann (and congratulations again on your Million Dollar Milestone!) for some cute ideas! The dog card is switched up a bit because the sentiment I chose didn't fit the other way. It wasn't until I went to take the picture that I realized that this card won't stand up - oops! I still like it though! Inside I added a couple of dog bones also from the Happy Tails set.
