Hi everyone, I'm so glad you stopped by today! I'm back sharing some spooky Halloween makes. Tim Holtz Halloween Idea-ology is always so much fun to create decor projects with, it always has just the right amount of spook factor and vintage flare! I call her Nellie and she a collector of the peculiar...she's probably one of my favorites from the ancestor paper dolls. Let me walk you thru how I put this piece together. The base is made of a vignette box and panel. I painted the box and panel with black soot distress paint and dried. Then covered with Halloween worn wallpaper. The box was trimmed in Halloween design tape. I gave the box and panel a good coat of distress collage medium matte. Did a little shading of the box and panel with distress paints, then glued them together. those pumpkins get all the heart eyes... The mini pumpkins were sealed with distress collage medium matte then shaded with distress crayons and I also attached real twigs to the tops of the pumpkins. Thanks Tim and Paula, those tips and tricks really make the pumpkins look great! I applied a thin coat of distress collage medium matte to the apothecary and corked vials and let dry. Then applied some rock candy crackle paint to the vials. I just love that awesome crackle, it never gets old! I used some collage medium matte on the labels from the Halloween ephemera pack to attach to vials. Did a little distressing with distress crayons The skulls and boneyard bones were distressed with alcohol ink. I added real twigs from my yard through out the piece. My sister had a fall rustic wedding recently, which I did all the decorating for and used a ton of twigs in various projects...so I'm still in that mode (wink). I did some additional shading on the tombstone with distress paint before adding the Halloween remnant rubs. I cut the metal gate apart with some wire cutters and applied some distress paint and alcohol ink. I applied the same treatment to all other metal idea-ology pieces as well, including those fun Halloween story sticks. This years design of the spider in the Halloween adornments pack is a total rockstar, I love it! I added a little distress paint and alcohol ink to his belly. I just cut the Halloween quote chip with scissors and did a little sanding. Mummy cloth...I sure wish you weren't seasonal. I colored the mummy cloth with distress sprays and cut into pieces and picked apart a bit. If you look closely in the left corner you can see a bouquet. I added color with distress stains and distress inks. I hope you give it a try! I love adding new seasonal decor pieces I've made each year to my collection from previous years. Thanks so much for stopping by, I really appreciate you taking the time and have a wonderful day! xx Bobbi I've listed the products below, used to create this project. Hi everyone! I'm posting from CHA today - so excited to be here! I'll be keeping this brief, but I did want to give you a peek at one of the projects I made for Tim Holtz using the new Idea-ology findings and papers. The new Idea-ology Pulley Wheels are probably my favorite thing of all - my piece is basically built just to show them off! I also love the Mini Gears and Box Corners. So cool! Here, I used a Wire Pin to hold a Mini Numeral and a Vial that I attached using a Screw Eye. A Clock Key sits atop a little clock I made using a toilet paper tube (more about that later!), some leftover packaging, and a clock image from the new papers. All the little houses were cut from heavy mat board using the Sizzix Artful Dwellings die. I added a little door to this one - one of the new Faucet Knobs is perfect as a handle! One of my favorite new products is the Word Bands. Love this sentiment! Ok, must run now - CHA is open in 10 minutes! I'll try to share pictures when I can. If you want to follow my Twitter feed, the link is near the top on my sidebar. Hope you enjoyed this first project!
Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a card that I did for Inspiration Emporiums "Pasted" Challenge! Embossing Paste is SO much fun to work with, I encourage you to give it a try! I used Kraft Core for the base of the card. I die cut Tim's new Globe and Adventure images and paired them with the Correspondence Paper Stash, they work great together. I love those Photobooth pictures, they bring any project to life! I added just a touch of Texture Paste with Tim's Traveler Stencil on the globe and finished it off with the plane from the Souvenir Adornments. In my usual fashion, I shaded all of the paper with Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool. Then distressed all the edges with my bone folder. Remember to enter your "Pasted" (embossing paste) themed projects over at Inspiration Journal and one lucky winner will be given a very generous $50 gift credit, to spend at Inspiration Emporium. You can find most of the supplies I used at Inspiration Emporium via the links below. Remember to use my coupon code - vintagemuse - to save 10% on your order. I hope you enjoyed my Embossing Paste Adventure Card! If you have any questions or if there's anything I missed please let me know I love your comments, I appreciate each and everyone of them! In my previous post: French Paper Theater - d'Epinal No.1579 Part 1 I gave a bit of information about a vintage paper theater sheet originally made by d'Epinal which I digitally: cleaned-up, assembled and then altered so I could have a fun variety of "stages" for some upcoming projects I've got planned. One of my altered "whimsical" paper theaters based on a vintage sheet originally produced by d'Epinal in the 1800's Today I'm posting about the "Whimsical Theaters" I altered based on the original sheet. And a series of colorful add in curtains that have been coordinated to work with the theaters. Some of the curtains can work with several of the theaters so the choice is yours as to how you want your theater to look. The curtains I've altered to go with the theater are from a 1924 image produced by the Danish Publication: Illustreret Familie-Journal which I located on line by Pilllpat (agency-eureka) on Flickr There are 9 Theater and 11 Curtain Set color choices to select from. (9 of which can be seen in the previews below) Preview sheet showing some of the Theater/Curtain combos possible from the images posted - Open Curtains Preview sheet showing some of the Theater/Curtain combos possible from the images posted - Closed Curtains For the above shown previews, I've matched up curtains that I think works best with each; however several of the curtains like the Raspberry, Gold, Old Gold, Copper, Plum and Teal Curtains work well with at least one of the other whimsical theaters shown. There is also (not shown) a "blue" curtain that works as an alternate for the "Original" color version of the theater (which can be seen in the previous post - HERE) and a "lime" green curtain that was made to go with the "Candy Land" colored theater as shown in the first image on this post. Whimsical Theaters & Curtains by EKDuncan and Presented by My Fanciful Muse Enjoy using the images for your crafting pleasure! See Downloading Instructions and Terms of Use Policy - HERE Original Theater Colors based on the vintage sheet I was working from The original vintage sheet I was working on had an array of vibrant colors predominantly in the Red, Blue and Gold family. So this first theater is a close representation to the colors found on the original sheet that I was working with. I have two curtain options that work well with the above theater. Bright Red curtain based on the 1924 version from the Danish Publication Familie-Journal The original 1924 curtain by: Illustreret Familie-Journal was a red one and seeing as many theater curtains are red; it seemed only fitting to include on in this collection. My altered "Blue" Theater Curtain Set is based on the original 1924 version I like options so I've also created a blue curtain that works with the theater's original color scheme. My altered "Aqua and Blue" Theater based on a vintage dEpinal 1579 paper theater sheet from the 1800's I like to play with colors digitally and found this Aqua and Blue version quite appealing. The Red and Blue of the original are now more of a Raspberry and Aqua. My altered "Gold" Theater Curtain Set is based on the original 1924 version I'm showing the "Gold" curtains with this theater; however the Raspberry and Teal curtain sets farther down in the post also works well with the "Aqua and Blue" Theater. My altered "Turquoise" Theater is based on a vintage dEpinal 1579 paper theater sheet from the 1800's I liked the Aqua color from the previous altered theater but I was looking for a way to tone it down and came up this the southwest feel for it. My altered "Teal" Theater Curtain Set is based on the original 1924 version This Teal curtain works great with both the Aqua and Turquoise Theaters. For a different look you could use the "Old Gold" or "Copper" curtains with the Turquoise Theater. My altered Theater in "Browns" - based on a vintage dEpinal 1579 paper theater sheet from the 1800's As much as I like bright color there are times I want something more toned down; this one has more of the Moss Green and Russet Browns color scheme to it. My altered "Copper" Theater Curtain Set is based on the original 1924 version I like this deep colored curtain with the theater; however another good alternate curtain is the "Old Gold" curtain set seen with the "Earthy" Theater below. My altered "Earthy" Theater is based on a vintage dEpinal 1579 paper theater sheet from the 1800's This one has a slightly different twist to earth tone coloration. It still has some earthy browns but also a bit of plum and a grey blue for some added interest. My altered "Old Gold" Theater Curtain Set is based on the original 1924 version I'm showing the "Old Gold" curtain set as a prime match for the "Earthy" theater; alternate choices would be the "Copper" and "Plum" Curtain Sets. My altered "Plum Purple" Theater is based on a vintage dEpinal 1579 paper theater sheet from the 1800's This Plummy colored theater has a nice mix of purple, gold and raspberry and works well with a variety of curtain sets in this post. My altered "Plum" Theater Curtain Set is based on the original 1924 version My top pick of curtains to use with the "Purple" Theater is this plum curtain set; however other great options are the Raspberry, Gold or even the Old Gold sets. My altered "Victorian Christmas" Theater is based on a vintage dEpinal 1579 paper theater sheet from the 1800's This color scheme reminds me of a Victorian Christmas so that's the name I gave it. The Cranberry, Evergreen and Gold just have that Old World feel for me. My altered "Evergreen" Theater Curtain Set is based on the original 1924 version I choose the Evergreen curtain set as an optimal selection for this theater since it works well and keeps it from looking too Christmas-like. The Old Gold set works equally well on this theater. Red or Raspberry might work but the color in the theater is more of a Cranberry. This would be an easy color fix for those of you who use digital editing programs in your art. My altered "Christmas" Theater is based on a vintage dEpinal 1579 paper theater sheet from the 1800's I started working on this alteration project before Christmas, so I had Christmas on the brain. Though not quite traditional Red and Green this is more of a Raspberry and Emerald. Once again I know many of your do digital work so if you want a more true to Christmas coloration this is an easy fix. My thought with the colors was for something that could work at Christmas time but not locked into being for Christmas only. My altered "Emerald" Theater Curtain Set is based on the original 1924 version I choose the Emerald curtain as the primary option; however Gold, Old Gold and Raspberry work well with it depending on the look you want. My altered "Candy Land" Theater is based on a vintage dEpinal 1579 paper theater sheet from the 1800's This "Candy Land" color scheme was a fun twist on the Christmas colors I had been playing with and is probably one of my favorites from this collection. It just screams "girly fun" to me. My altered "Raspberry" Theater Curtain Set is based on the original 1924 version I originally paired the theater up with the Raspberry curtain since I was trying to create curtains that went with a variety of theaters; but I just could not resist also creating a Lime curtain as well. My altered "Lime" Theater Curtain Set is based on the original 1924 version I love lime colors and though this curtains set does not "play" well with any of the other theaters; I just could not resist adding it in for the "Candy Land" Theater. So there you have it one vintage paper theater sheet and one vintage paper curtain sheet; have been transformed into a whimsical collection of 9 theater color choices and 11 curtain sets. Preview sheet showing some of the Theater/Curtain combos possible from the images posted I could have kept playing with colors but I think this is a nice collection as is; however I won't be surprised if when I start working on assembling a set for my project if I don't need to customize one to my specific project - grins. ***** I hope you enjoy creating some fun craft projects with them and would love to see what you create; so if you do... please comment on the post or email me via the "Email Me" button on the right. I'm working on some other Toy/Paper Theater items for future posts. Till then... FYI for those of you who ask how to get the printable images Download Instructions: Click on the image of your choice (left click to select the image) - this will take you to another screen where you will see the larger graphic. Once on the new screen - right click on the image and "save image as" to your computer. Hello friends! I'm back today to share another project I made for the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Creativation booth. I used a Flip Frame here, they really are so versatile. You can hang pages from the rings provided or like me you could create a box and attach to the back of the frame to make your own little vignette. I started off by adding a little age patina to the finish of the frame by using Iced Spruce Distress Paint and Mushroom Alcohol Ink. This little guy here is all about luck. He's got his lucky number 13, his lucky star, his lucky four leaf clover and his lucky quote chip. I'd say he's feeling pretty confident. This Quote Chip was originally one piece, but I needed to cut it into smaller pieces to fit the space in the Flip Frame. I just used my Tim Holtz scissors, they did a great job even on the super thick chipboard. Then I sanded the edges a bit to round them out with my sanding grip. I added a little color to the Paper Doll before I attached the Botanical butterfly wings. You could either use Distress Markers or Distress Ink Pad with a Q-Tip. The colors I went with were Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmons and Chipped Sapphire for his suit, vest and tie. Nice subtle color... lucky, lucky, lucky... I used some Distress Paint to color the Typography number. Antique Linen, Pumice Stone, Walnut Stain and Black Soot was just what it needed. Then a little distressing to that cute little 4 leaf clover from the Treasures Adornment Charm set. I used a little Iced Spruce Distress Paint, Mushroom Alcohol Ink, then drilled a hole in the bottom of the 3 and hung the clover charm. I made a small box out of a scrap piece of paper stash then attached the "John Mothner-signage Collector Layers, so the boy would have something to set on. To finish it off I tied some Jute string around the bottom of the Flip Frame. I had so much fun creating this Flip Frame! I hope you enjoyed todays project! You can find the supplies I've used via the links below. If you have any questions please let me know I love your comments, I truly appreciate each and everyone of them! Hello Friends! Happy Monday to you, hope you had a great weekend! I'd like to share a quick thank you card I made. I tell ya, I just can't get enough of those birds! Now that I have the Crazy Things & Crazy Talk to go with my Bird Crazy stamps….oh my...there's no stopping me! Did you hear that Tim Holtz and Sizzix are going to release Crazy Things Thinlits dies, they're going to coordinate perfectly with the stamp set! It's on my "Must Have" list, when they become available! This is also a DT project for Inspiration Emporium. To start with, the mesh background was White Embossed onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I did some watercoloring on the mesh background with Distress Inks and a Waterbrush. Then to add a little more texture, I applied some Hickory Smoke with the Distress Marker Spritzer. I stamped my bird on Distress Watercolor Cardstock and die cut with Bird Crazy Thinlits. Then I stamped the flowers on Distress Watercolor Cardstock and cut them out with scissors. I like to do my coloring, after I have my pieces cut out for my bird. I applied color to my bird and flowers, using various distress inks. I stamped the "Thank You" banner with Jet Black Archival Ink. The cute little bow, is one of the new Tim Holtz Sizzix punches. It was punched from a piece of scrap and attached with a long fastener, that had been distressed. From this angle, you can see the dimension of my bird and flowers a little better even though I used a very low profile foam squares. Hi everyone, Bobbi here! Today I'm sharing a spooky book of spells! A new month means a new challenge over at Inspiration Emporium (challenge closed). October's theme for the month is "In Disguise", it's going to be a lot of fun and I'm gonna have to get my thinking cap on and think outside the box! Now for my fun spooky book for all accounts it looks like a book on the outside but when you open it, something quite different is on the inside! Potions, spells and spooky goodness!!! I will have a complete list of all the products I used at the bottom of the page. To start with I took a plain papier-mâché book and painted the outside with a pitch black Dabber, making sure not to paint the pages portion. Then I added a little bit of snow white to the pitch black paint to make a gray and then taking a very dry brush barely skimming across the book to create some layers and any portion you would like to highlight including parts of the raised spine. Then I took some gathered twigs distress paint and colored the pages portion of the outside of the book. After the paint was dried I took the gathered twigs and the antique linen distressed paint mixed together and using a drybrush skimmed a crossed the "pages" portion to create highlights. I took black soot distress paint and a little water and mixed on my nonstick craft sheet with my paint brush. Splattered mixture all over the book, everywhere that you want black speckles to be. I mixed brushed pewter, black soot distress paint and water on my craft sheet. Using a very, very dry brush I lightly skimmed across the book to create more highlights. Using the same mixture I also created more splatters all over the book then dried with a heat tool. Up close pictures. Another one. So it's up to you how grungy you want your book to be, I like mine very grungy! For the inside of the book, I painted any seam or outer edge with black soot distress paint. I took a piece of orange distressed paper from my Tim Holtz crowded attic paper stash and stamped a damask pattern with the Tim Holtz distress damask stamp set CMS190 using jet black archival ink. The paper was already wonderfully distressed for me, before I started stamping. I also added some cobwebs and spiders with the Mini Halloween 3 stamp set CMS140. When you go to measure the inside of your box make sure that you measure top to bottom and up the sides as well. It doesn't have to be perfect and it's a very forgiving when you paint the seams a dark color. I didn't glue it in just yet, I set it aside for now. I took a small styrofoam pumpkin, pulled out the stem and cut it in half. I wanted it to fit inside my box and still be able to close the lid. I painted my pumpkin with black soot distress paint and let dry. Then, I added a layer of black stood distress crackle paint. I think I got almost as much on me as I did on my pumpkin, LOL :) After it air dried, it looked like this!!! I almost stopped at that... but then I didn't! :) I added some brushed pewter distress paint, to accentuate the cracks. I took one of the bare mini burlap canvas and added texture paste using the Gothic Tim Holtz stencil. After that was dried I painted the burlap canvas with peeled paint distress paint and let dry. I brushed on some rock candy distress cracked paint and let dry. Then I went behind with Black soot, seedless preserves and brushed pewter distress paint over the raised portion of texture paste and let dry. I added screw hinges to the top. I stamped Happy Halloween with black archival ink using the Apothecary stamp set CMS138 on Tim Holtz watercolor paper. I also stamp a couple of spiderwebs and a spider with same stamp set from the orange paper. I splattered with seedless preserves and brushed pewter distress paints. I attached ring fasteners through the paper but not through the papier-mâché cardboard, I didn't want the prongs to show. Once I did, that I glued my paper to the inside of the box with strong adhesive. I used Tim Holtz's crackle technique found on page 54 of his Compendium of Curiosities 3 Book on my glass vial and glass dome. I have loved this technique ever since the first time I saw it done! I did, use some purple twilight alcohol ink to color one of the vials. I stamped one of my file labels which a black ink and the spiderweb then used a rub on from the Tim Holtz remnant rubs. I used pebble alcohol ink on the #31 Plaquettes to dingy it up a little. The small photo and the small paper are both from the laboratories paper stash. The large paper to the left is also from the laboratories paper stash as well. I attached a clock key. I then attached several idea-logy pieces. I attached a remnant rub to a plaquette that no longer had its number as well. That plaquette was an experiment that didn't quite turn out a few months ago but, I didn't throw it away. I knew I could use it for something and this was that something! :) For the front cover I attached some dyed cheesecloth and several papers from the laboratories paper stash. I stamped the crow from the Halloween Blueprints 2 and the skull from the Apothecary stamp set CMS138 with jet black archival ink. I colored and shaded both the crow and skull with pumice stone, black soot, antique linen distress ink and a water brush. I added more idea-logy pieces with the clock and spider at the top of the book. Thanks so much for the visit. I really appreciate it, have a wonderful day! xx Bobbi I've listed the products below, used to create this project. I am part of various affiliate programs including Simon Says Stamp. When you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase thru that link (at no extra cost to you), I receive a small commission. Thank you, I genuinely appreciate your support!

The Linda Ledbetter Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #2 went up on Saturday. I'm actually surprised that I completed this one too! This challenge is taken from page 56 of Tim Holtz's book, Distress Glitter Techniques. Instead of doing a tag, I decided to use a Tim Holtz Folio for this challenge. This is the smaller one (7 x 9). Here's my project: I decided I'm going to use the folio for all the Compendium Challenges so they are all in one place. I'm committed now, I have to do them all! I've just decorated the front cover with this challenge and the inside will be done using another technique, then filled with my challenges. Here's a closeup of my bird. I used Tim's Wallflower collection for all the embellishments and cover. I never get tired of using these papers! The bird was cut out from one of the papers, adhered to thin chipboard, and glittered. The leaves were die-cut from Sizzix's 659436 Tim Holtz Garden Greens die. I used Rock Candy Glitter for the bird and Vintage Photo and Antique Linen Distress glitter for the leaves. The flowers were die-cut from Sizzix's 656640 Tim Holtz Tattered Flower die. The small flower buds were the smallest flower in this set. I just used a stylus and curved them inward. It's hard to tell in the photos, but the edges are glittered with Rock Candy glitter. One good thing about doing these challenges, it gets you using all those products in your stash! Check out Linda's blog for some great inspiration. Thanks for stopping by, Jan

Hello friends, I'm glad you've stopped by! I'd like to share a project that I created for Tim Holtz's idea-ology booth at Creativation (formerly-CHA) 2017 this year. I was so honored to be asked to make a few things for Tim. If you check Tim's blog here you can see the list/links of incredibly talented designers that made up many of the projects for Tim's Idea-ology, Sizzix, Stampers Anonymous and Ranger booths. Plus, Tim takes you on an awesome booth tour! Many of the designers are starting to post some of their Creativation projects to their blogs, you don't want to miss it! I used the new idea-ology Baseboards for my front and back cover of the mini book. I really enjoyed using them, they're super sturdy, yet can still be altered. I used a crop-a-dile to punch the holes in the front back covers, they are far too thick for a regular punch. Lots of new idea-ology pieces were used to create this mini. That little dog charm is just the cutest, he's in the new idea-ology treasures pack. I just can not get enough of those paper dolls! I'm dreaming up all sorts of fun projects with them... I used the idea-ology binder punch to create the holes in all the remaining inside pages of the mini book, it worked perfectly. I did a lots of distressing throughout the book to give it that vintage feel. I'm so happy that Tim has given us so much vintage variety with all the new Design Tapes. My planner is going to be so happy. I want to use the new design tapes on EVERYTHING now. They're so much fun to layer up, just using pieces here and there. I used the new idea-ology 8x8 Etcetera Paper Stash for several of the inside pages and accents…just like these cigar bands. I'm gonna need those new clippings stickers in bulk... I loved the touch of gold from the gilded accents. Design Tape for days, I will definitely be using lots more for future projects. They're all just so, so good. I held the mini book together using 2 idea-ology mini book rings, they were just the right size for the job. Thank you is not nearly enough, however…I would like to thank Tim and Paula for asking me to be a part of the team! I hope you enjoyed todays project! You can find the supplies I've used via the links below. If you have any questions please let me know I love your comments, I truly appreciate each and everyone of them! I hope you'll check back soon, I'll be sharing more Creativation projects. A Deconstructive Reading of Shelley's Frankenstein- how traditional deconstructive lines of opposition are challenged in Shelley's novel
Happy Monday all! With the season winding down, I wanted to do a roundup of my favorite outfits from the Summer. It always amazes me how quickly time goes by. I’ll miss dining al fresco, rooftop…
I found these vintage pharmacy labels at the National Archives, the top is the original, the bottom ones were cut out individually, cleaned up, and the names were taken off so you may use them as your own. Enjoy and don’t forget to like my Facebook page, I just had my first contest with two […]

Mary turned this.... ...into this. It's a beautiful Christmas Countdown Calendar filled with 25 seasonal activities. Each tag has a pocket on the back. The pocket has a small tag tucked inside with a fun activity that ties in with Christmas. I love this idea and all the beautiful tags she created. The box is the Mini Library Drawer from 7 Gypsies and most of the papers, tags, and embellishments are from Simple Stories 25 Days of Christmas. This collection is also perfect for Ali Edwards December Daily project. Below are some additional photos and a couple close-up shots of the tags and the activities. Stop in the store and take a look at all 25 tags and activities, and pick up the supplies to complete this beautiful project before December 1st. Here are a few other activities/traditions she used: Buy candy canes and hang on the Christmas Tree. Bake cookies. Visit Santa. Pick out a Christmas Tree. Decorate the Christmas Tree. Take food to the local food bank. Wrap gifts. Leave us a comment and tell us what your Holiday traditions are.
Every year is celebrated a Fela Day (few weeks ago in Paris), proving that Fela Kuti's spirit is still gliding around, despite a very varied comprehension. Good occasion anyway to search in muzzicaltrips archives, and look at how evolves perception of african music along the years. Here's an article about Fela Kuti which reveals part of the perception of a jazz magazine from 1981 (Jazz Hot, first jazz magazine in Europe created in 1935). In 1981, Fela just released Authority Stealing, not his most innovative album musically, but politically a direct and strong accusation towards nigerian government (led by Alhaji Shehu Shargari). Additionally to a brief biography of the artist, the article discloses partially the point of view and knowledge degree of the author. Interesting analysis in terms of jazz technique: Fela 70 is fully considered as a jazz orchestra, as "the place of instrumental choruses remains as important as any afro-american big band". Fela had no imitators nor talented disciples, and his music identity has been shaped from various paradoxical influences: "Grand son of protestant minister become animist; son of a feminist activist but attached to polygamy and patriarchal system; musician with classic and jazz training, passionately returning to african sources." But it seems harder to conceive for the author that african music is also fully inscribed in general music evolutions. "Pointless to collect all Fela's LPs: some of them will be sufficient"(it sounds like a tourist guide!), and above all: "Too deeply marked by jazz to be recognised as an authentically african artist" which seems to suggest that a direct family tie between jazz and african music is not obvious for the author... (Does he mean that african authenticity in music can only be represented by a bare chested drummer playing in front of a palm hut? and disconnected from jazz to be considered as 100% african?). He hopefully concludes that "Afrobeat is an important enough phenomena to serve as entering passage to a musical reality more complex and richer than what can be imagined in Europe". Still valid for occidental ears thirty years later. Jazz Hot, March 1981 (Eric Polene). Concerning Fela's recordings, note the recent interesting job done by Goma Gringa in Brazil, with the release of "Sorrow Tears and Blood" complete original session (the original recording from 1977 having been shorten by 6 minutes for the initial LP release).
Hi everyone. I made a card today inspired by three challenges. First the beautiful card done by Chrissie Stokes for Muse # 115. I just love her watercoloured images and the bold and vibrant colours on the black background. The other inspiration was the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #121, and I'm just squeaking in under the wire for the Less Is More Challenge #221 - Add a Tag. Chrissie's card for Muse I experimented a few days ago with a new-to-me technique (faux glass technique) after seeing this beautiful card done by Cathy (Cathys Card Spot). I followed her link to the video tutorial by Sandy Allnock. I had fun creating the background with three shades of red watercolours and some Brilliant Gold Pearl Ex dissolved in water. I definitely need some practice with this technique as my colours didn't turned out very bright, but it was fun to play. :) I cut out the piece described above with a tag die and then stamped over top with three blooms and heat embossed it in gold, along with embossing the sentiment in gold too. And I took some more pearl ex and water and splattered that background of the tag. I stamped the background of the card base with one of the stamps from Gorgeous Grunge and heat embossed it in gold as well. Stamps: Bloom with Hope (SU!); Gorgeous Grunge (SU!); A Little Sentimental (Clearly Besotted) Paper: Black (SU!); Watercolour (Arches 140 lb. cold press) Ink: Versamark Accessories & Tools: Stitched Tag Die (Paper Smooches), Watercolour paints, paint brushes, Brilliant Gold Mica Powder (Pearl Ex), gold embossing powder (hero arts), heat tool, gold cording Challenges: Muse #115 - Chrissie Stokes CAS(E) this Sketch! #121 Less Is More #221 - Tag
Hello, my blogging friends! It's that time of the month where we scrap our stash, with Practical Scrappers! You should have arrived here from Suzanna's blog - if you didn't you may want to go back and check out all of the wonderful inspiration! This great group of ladies are so talented and are always full of fabulous ideas! Our theme this month is Halloween or fall, I decided to go with Thanksgiving. I plan on incorporating this into my Thanksgiving centerpiece on my dinning room table. This is where it all started, I had some scrap pieces of manila card stock left over from a different project that I had colored and stamped. I'm always hanging onto scraps of paper if I think I can use it for a different project. I recently made a Halloween tag that used a Tim Holtz technique, I liked it so much that I decided to do the technique again except on a Thanksgiving tag. Tim Holtz has a great tutorial on his blog here if you would like to learn the technique, from start to finish. I just applied the stamps and dies and inks that I chose for my tag today. The scrapbook paper that I chose to work with, was a small Thanksgiving snippet out of the Tim Holtz seasonal paper stash collection. I hope you enjoyed my Thanksgiving themed tag, now it's time to hop on over to Majken's blog! You can find all the supplies I used at Inspiration Emporium via the links below.
