This wellness packet came from a place of deep longing to be well while teaching young children. As with many teachers, burn-out started to happen way too early in my career. I was tired, sick often and overwhelmed by the pressures of teaching. I wanted to be able to teach from a place of rest and well-being. I enrolled in a class through Augustana University in the summer of 2018 which focused on Teacher Wellness. Through that class, I learned about the effects of teacher burn-out and how most teachers don’t make it to year 5 of their career. That shocked me. I definitely want this to be a lifelong career so I knew something had to change! The biggest change to my wellness journey was developing a wellness plan. That is the bulk of this packet. I included my own personal wellness plan to give you ideas and provided multiple template ideas so you can create your own wellness plan! This packet includes: *Wellness Ideas *Wellness Plan example *Wellness Plan templates *20-day wellness challenge *Wellness Tracker forms *Quarterly Reflection Questions *Well-Being Committee Idea

Mental Health is becoming more and more of hot-topic these days. Adults are busier and that means that kids are busier. Because of that, schools are having to teach Mental Health to children so they are better able to navigate the stress and anxiety that is put on them at this young age. The CDC states, “ADHD, behavior problems, anxiety, and depression are the most commonly diagnosed mental disorders in children.” As a teacher, I definitely witness the behavior issues that poor mental health has on children. The CDC also stated that anxiety and depression among children aged 6-17 increased from 5.4% in 2003 to 8% in 2007 and to 8.4% in 2011-2012. This yearly overview called “Mental Health Mondays” came from a place as an educator of needing to build in time to proactively teach mental health strategies to help my students cope with the high stress they face in their daily lives. Included: *16 weeks of lessons *Student printout sheets *Bulletin board letters *Parent Letter *Read-Aloud book list *Outline of lessons *Wellness plan
