As the dusk descends upon Glencoe, the heavens above partake in a dramatic dance, crafting a vista of such emotive prowess, it begs to be invited into your space. This captivating print, inspired by the moody clouds at sunset, brings forth the essence of a cubist masterpiece, reimagining the rugged Highlands with bold geometric forms and abstract perspectives. Vibrant oranges and fiery reds kiss the sky, juxtaposing the serene blues and purples that echo the quietude of the impending night. Intricate plays of light and shadow are cast over the angular mountainsides, while the reflective waters below mirror the skies' enigmatic mood, both punctuated and softened by the silhouetted land that gently bridges the tumult of the skies with the tranquility of the Earth. The scene captures the poignancy of nature's fleeting moments, locked in a cubist time frame that encourages the eye to wander through its fragmented reality, urging contemplation and reverence for the elemental beauty at play. This evocative piece from the 'Glencoe' collection offers an abstract take on the timeless grandeur of one of Scotland's most renowned landscapes, providing a unique centrepiece for any room that yearns for a statement of natural allure, interpreted through the lens of a revolutionary art movement. Embrace the fusion of tradition and modernism with this expressive print, and let your imagination roam the highlands under the sublime ballet of a Glencoe sunset.

Everything seems quieter when it rolls in, muffled as when it snows. I'm on my bike returning from a dinner. A boy there, one of my students actually, was worried at first about me biking in the fog, but when I told him I lived near the school he said, "Ok va bene, al meno non è dall'altra parte della città." As long as you're not on the other side of the city. But I didn't really realize just how dense it had become. The city emerges bit by bit, people, cars, buildings becoming distinct and then dissolving behind me as I pass. There's a strange smell too, humidifier damp muddled with a strange musk. F says that we in centro don't even understand fog like those who live in peripheria. There, he says, is the real fog. But tonight maybe I do. It's so thick I can't see down my own street, when I look up at a lamp I see the tendrils of mist moving through the weak light. And the people seem uglier, weirder. I see prostitutes for the first time on the corner of Viale Gioia, dancing from foot to foot to keep warm. A little man by Alcatraz is hiding behind one of the big show trucks because he is selling beer illegally, and when he sees me looking he says, "Vai a casa, vai a casa," and he keeps yelling it after me even as I pedal away. Go home go home. La nebbia a Milano, wintertime is here.
I once heard this quote saying something along the lines that a woman’s first-time bleeding doesn’t actually come from between her legs, but from always having to bite her tongue. I think about this…

Captivate your senses with this evocative expressionist interpretation of Scarista Beach, a jewel amidst the rugged beauty of the Scottish coastline. Dynamic strokes of moody blues and greys dance across the canvas, encapsulating the tumultuous energy of a storm brewing in the sky above. Amidst the chaos of the heavens, a momentary reprieve presents itself as a burst of ethereal light pours through a break in the clouds, its rays gently kissing the serene waters below. The landscape unfolds in a symphony of vivid contrast, where the passion of the painter's palette brings to life the untamed spirit of nature. Rolling hills and mountains stand as silent sentinels in the distance, their forms suggested through deftly applied hues of cool blues and purples, lending depth and substance to the scene. The undulating terrain leads the eye to the expansive beach, where the sands, painted in soft creams and yellows, offer a stark yet harmonious counterpoint to the storm overhead. In the foreground, the rugged coastline is interpreted with bold and abstract gestures, where the vibrant splashes of oranges and yellows suggest a wild, blossoming beauty that defies the sombre mood. The mingling of colours teases the imagination, evoking the wild flora that often blankets the Scottish shores. This piece is a turbulent yet soul-stirring tribute to the natural drama of Scarista Beach, inviting the viewer to explore the depths of emotion that the Scottish landscape can inspire. It's an exquisite addition to any collection celebrating the raw charm of Scottish Beaches, captivating art lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.
It’s quite clear I use a spectrum of shades of pink, yellow and green as staple colors in my designs. But I wanted to throw a new-to-me color in the mix for this home—plum! This purple bathroom has sold me on using deep plum, eggplant and wine tones in future spaces. It feels so rich …
Ambera Wellmann is lamenting energy vampires—the most highly evolved stage of a failed painting. But failure in this context feels rather oxymoronic floating so near to Wellmann’s visual oeuvre. Born and raised on the East Coast of Canada, Wellmann now operates out of Berlin. Her most recent work, which explores the mythology of porcelain, features moody, amorphous globs—the jelly-like ooze of a tadpole on the precipice of hatching.
