Albert Chamillard’s monochromatic pen drawings have drawn acclaim for their ability to calm the minds of viewers. It’s interesting to learn, then, that Chamillard listens to punk and metal while crafting his art, which he shared in an interview with Faithwaites. Though each monochromatic pen-wrought work is undeniably flat, the artist’s careful use of cross-hatching creates a sense of volume by contrasting more- and less-saturated areas. Chamillard uses found and deadstock paper, especially vintage ledgers, and engages the papers’ subtle blue and red writing rules to frame subtle zig-zag patterns within each imagined plane, which further enlivens his seemingly simple drawings. This is a unique, abstract and minimalistic watercolor painting inspired by the Pacific Northwest. Pebbels are painted with a variety of Payne’s Gray tones, then lines are added using a micron pen. This is an original piece, not a print; hand-painted watercolor and hand-drawn ink on 140lb cold-pressed watercolor paper, signed and dated on the back. The painting is 6x9,” unframed and unmatted. The photos above were taken in natural light but please note that screens may show slightly different colors, tints or saturation. Message me if you would like additional photos. Chinese artist Fu Chunqiang creates detailed illustrations with seemingly endless line work. Viewing his work up close, one begins to wonder how many times he cross-hatched his tiny marks to create the winding, looping forms we see. In many of the pieces, the shapes seem to be hooked into one another like the curves of infinity symbols. A widely opened mouth with shark-like rows of teeth encloses a war among insects and reptiles; a fan of peacock feathers conceals pairs of tiny human characters that seem to be caught, as if in a spider's web. Fu's work ranges in style, from flat, cartoony aliens to clouds that evoke traditional Chinese painting and realistically-rendered animals. But he approaches each style with the same frenetic energy that makes his work pulse.

Adam S. Doyle (previously) creates sweeping monochromatic animals, painting creatures that jump, fly, and swim from his simplified brushstrokes. Doyle’s environmental details are limited, instead focusing on the subject which takes up the majority of the painting’s frame. His howling wolves and pensive rabbits have an illustrative quality to their compensation, something that may stem from his interest in interpreting narratives for book covers, greeting cards, and show posters. Doyle doesn’t attempt to mask his brushstrokes, but rather lets them evolve organically. More

Hello, In this tutorial I will show you how to colour an image with only one colour group, this is called monochromatic colouring. Because I want my image to be very vintage, I took the W-family. W stands by in the Copic colouring system for Warm Grey, a colour that I use a lot in my images for shoes, clothing and also for hair. The W-family combines very well with other vintage colours (that are the families with a first digit 7 until 9) Ich habe die W-Familie gewählt, weil ich einen Vintage-Look erreichen möchte. The image is from Mo Manning and this lovely old lady is called Mummu, she still can dance the whole night. For the face and the hair I used other colours, but the rest of my image is coloured with these 6 W -markers. In the pictures below you see the steps I took to complete my image. Step 1: colour all the skin parts with E000, the lightest skin colour here. Step 3: colour the deepest hair strands with E53, make short strokes with the marker. Step 4: colour the rest of the hair with light strokes with E50, repeat step 3 and 4 until the hair has the desired colour. Step 5. basecoat the blouse with W00, that makes the blending from the later applied layers more easy. Step 6: apply the darkest colour for the blouse W2 in the deeper parts of the folds. Step 7: apply the middle colour W1, put it next to the W2 Schritt 7: Tragt die W1, die mittlere Farbe, neben W2 auf. Step 8: colour the uncolored parts with W00, don't go all over the blouse, only a small part over the W1 to blend it. Otherwise you loose a lot of contrast. Repeat the steps 6,7 an 8 until you have got the contrast that you want to achieve. Step 9: Basecoat the skirt with W00. Schritt 9: Grundiert den Rock mit W00. Step 10: colour the folds in the skirt. Start with the darkest colour W5, apply it where the fold is the darkest, where the fabric lies unterneath a fold. Step 11: overlap a small part of the W5 with the second colour W3, to blend it. Apply W3 with short strokes. Step 12: do the same with the third colour W1, blend the W3 with it, don't go over the W5 to keep contrast. Leave a small stroke uncolored for the lightest colour. Step 13: colour the last part with a light touch with W0, keep this part as light as possible. Step 14: start with an other part of the skirt, apply W5 underneath the blouse. Step: 15 Apply W3 with feathered strokes, follow the direction of the skirt. Step 16: there is the third colour again, apply it a little bit over the W3 and leave a space for the highlight. Step 17: blend W1 with W0 keep it light. Step 18: colour the rest of the skirt in the same way, use the four indicated colours. Step 19: Colour Mummu's sandals. Schritt 19: Koloriert Mummus Sandalen. Step 20: colour the hearts on her skirt Schritt 20: Koloriert die Herzen auf dem Rock. Step 21: give Mummu a soil, to stand on. Schritt 21: Gebt Mummu Boden unter die Füße. Here is another image colored the same way. Hope, this will help to do also some monochromatic colouring, dare to try a whole other colour. ************* Love to read your comments, Ich liebe es, eure Kommentare zu lesen, greetings Diny
