This happy lap quilt is completed and ready to ship to you! It is made using a custom mix of bright, cheerful Kaffe Fassett fabrics in a traditional brick pattern. It is bold, colorful, and truly one of a kind! It is quilted in a light green cotton thread in a meandering wavy pattern. The binding is made from one of my favorites fabrics and is machine stitched to both sides for durability. The batting in the middle of the quilt is 100% cotton that is thin and lightweight, but also warm. This quilt is extra special, in that it is backed in a beautiful silky soft cotton sateen millefiore print in bold blues. This quilt is full of joyful color and pattern and would be a wonderful get well gift for your special someone in need of some comfort and cheer. The measurements are approximately 51 inches wide by 62 inches long. This quilt would make a lovely accent draped over a chair or the foot of a bed. It is also the perfect size for curling up with by yourself in your favorite spot with a good book and a cup of tea. It is sure to add a unique, handmade touch to any room. It would also be a fantastic gift for a student heading off to college and would brighten even the dreariest dorm room. We also think a beautiful, made-to-last quilt is the perfect gift to commemorate your 2nd (cotton) anniversary. All of my items are handmade with joy and love in my smoke-free home studio. Each quilt is unique and handcrafted with the utmost care to be beautiful, useful, and long-lasting. My items are made to be sturdy enough for regular use and beautiful enough to be heirlooms. If this is a gift, I would love to gift package it for you and include a handwritten message chosen by you. Just include your desired message in a note at checkout and send it to your preferred shipping address. Care Instructions: Wash in cool water on a delicate cycle and tumble dry on low or lay flat to dry to keep your quilt looking beautiful for years to come. Iron if desired. It will become softer with each washing and is made to stand up to much use and love. If dried by machine, the quilt will shrink slightly on its first drying and will develop the gathers and puckers characteristic of handmade quilts. When I first designed Cabin Peaks, early this year, it was solely an ombre quilt like my Pantone Cabin Peaks. It wasn't until I was looking at FIGO's website and landed on their Rollakan collection, that I started playing with more color within the quilt's rows. It seems crazy to me that I'm writing this sentence, but

Finished! My Double Wedding Ring for the DWR Challenge: Shine On I had lots of fun taking the traditional rings and throwing them off-center. The flowers and stars that showed up were a nice surprise....... Working with mostly solids isn't my usual M.O........though, I couldn't resist adding one great print! I quilted this one by stitching in the ditch by machine. Then I hand-quilted details with silk twist. I love silk twist thread....it's like the silk version of perle cotton. "Shine On" gave me the chance to try a cross-shaped quilting stitch I haven't used before. It gives a tufted effect in the gray/brown backgrounds. Leaving you with a couple last detail shots:

I am so excited to share the last pattern of 2020 - Whirlwind! This pattern was designed during a doodling session in the middle of the (first) coronavirus lockdown. The structured chaos reminded me of what 2020 has been a bit like - like being caught in a windstorm, being pull this way and that. After doing some quick
My first finish of 2015 (hopefully one of many)! The pattern for this quilt is called Perfect Union by Pat Bravo from American Patchwork and Quilting February 2014 (click here for more info). How cute are those quilt buddy feet and fingers?! I used a fat quarter bundle of Anna Maria Horner's Dowry line and peppered in a variety of solids from my stash. The back is a linen Cotton and Steel print - perfection! It calmed down the busy front, yet the arrows have all the colors spotted throughout. Finished this one off with a "quilted label." I'm terrible at making labels, so I figured this was better than nothing! I love this shot before washing - it shows off the quilting nicely. This was a digital pattern called Harbour Wave (found here) by Patricia Ritter/Urban Elementz. I let my Handi Quilter Fusion ProStitcher do the work....and I think it turned out beautifully. Happy Stitching!
