Hello all; This is just a quick post to show you some of my recent work. I've been playing with prints of my Gelli plate prints and enhancing them with doodles, flowers, etc. I really like how these enhancements really make each print a whole new piece of art. I've been using assorted markers and pens and some colored paper here and there. Love how colorful and whimsical these have turned out and I hope you enjoy them too. I liked how "Enjoy The Journey" turned out so much, that I have ordered a very small limited edition run of notebooks featuring this print on the cover. I'll be listing a couple of them in my Etsy shop in due course. Until next time, happy arting! Joanna

I've done a few umbrella & rain projects throughout the past few weeks. I really wish I would have seen this project because I would have added a little "rain" a.k.a glue to some of our umbrella art. I found this HERE on MamaJenn's blog & just love it. So cute & soooo easy. If you don't feel like making this umbrella, I made one HERE that could be used for a similar effect. Just skip the marker rain drops & use the glue in place of them. We haven't had any rain in a few days... I need it to stay away through the weekend & our big MOVE!!! Enjoy! s.b.

Name - Karen Name of your blog/business - Altered & Inked What city and or country you live in? I live in a little town in Queensland, Australia. When I was a child I wanted to be? When I was little and grew up I wanted to be a teacher! I used to love going to school, and still love to learn. (This helps with staying inspired as well! ). I wish I’d never worn? Ohh this one is easy.. Many years ago now I had a pair of pants that I fell in love with when I saw them at the store. They were a burnt orange, brown and straw sort of coloured plaid pattern... Yes really! Thinking back now I really do wonder what I was thinking. I only ever wore them once.. Five things on my desk right now.. A creative mess that is a half finished tag... A pile of metal embellishments My craft pick Remnant Rubs - Botanical Forget Me Not - Archival ink And a green rabbit My favorite guilty pleasure? My homemade Orange Chocolate Chip cheesecake slice.. What could be better.. Orange, chocolate chips, condensed milk and cream cheese! I’m very bad at... Saying thank you when people give me a compliment... Like a lot of people am most certainly my worst critic! My favorite movie of all time? The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I've loved it from the very first time I saw it and could watch this over and over, and I'm sure I will! Do you collect anything? I collect bird cages.. Smaller sized ones for decoration. Actually I just added another to my collection yesterday. What’s your strangest talent? I'm not really sure if it's a talent... And it's a bit yuck.. But I can twist my thumb backwards so it sits on the top of my hand... See I did warn you it was yuck! Giggle. If you got a free plane ticket to anywhere, where would you go? It would be to Turkey, to visit Anzac Cove - Gallipoli. It's somewhere I've always wanted to go and would be a very special place for me as an Aussie to visit. How did you get started? I started my creative journey as a scrapbooker, never 12 x 12 size though, always smaller - 6x6 and then for a little while 8x8. I don't do any actual scrapping anymore, I create almost entirely on tags. I love the challenge of the small work surface. I would also never have thought of myself as a stamper.. Stamps used to make me run for the hills..But now I love to use stamps! My go to products are... I tend to find a product I love to use and often find it hard to use anything else.. Ones I find I always reach for are Tim Holtz Distress inks and markers. Metal embellishments and trinkets - some faves are of course Tim Holtz Idea-ology, Prima and Graphic 45. Pattern paper - 7Dots Studio is a favourite. I always use Multi Medium, Glossy accents or plain old double sided tape to stick anything down. And though it's not a product, I never feel like a tag is finished unless I've pulled out my sewing machine. How do you get inspired or stay inspired? I stay inspired by regularly visiting my favourite blogs, learning new techniques and also doing little challenges with my wonderful crafting friend Anita, by text.. We each chose a colour, items, technique whatever the case maybe, and give ourselves normally until the next morning to send each other a picture of our completed project. How/where can people find your work? At the moment you can find me @ my blog Alterd & Inked or on Facebook. I tend to post pictures there a bit as well.. Thank you again Karen for sharing your work with us. We are inspired. now carry on, paula
I had never seen a daytime fireworks display before. It's kind of odd actually as the colors blend together to more of a pastel blur then the streaks normally seen at night. I wonder if it would have been even weirder with a blue sky instead of the heavy cloud cover.
Most of my work sells pretty quickly. Here are some available pieces at the moment. If you want to see things in progress and for sale right away, check out my Studio Facebook Page, or peruse the s…
Hello, my name is Julieta, I am an art doll, created with fabrics, my body is of new cotton fabric and my clothes are recycled, my hair is white because I love representing what is pure inside me with it but I am still jung! I love spring for I was born in the first days of it, in México city, were I was made, it´s already spring! My mom loves trying new techniques with each of her daughters, she couldn´t have any children so I know each of her doll daughters are special to her and so she dedicates a lot of effort and learning with each. Here is a bit of how I was created, I´m sure mom will share more in upcoming posts! My face was attached to my body after needle sculpting my face. Ideas to cover my head with some hair and a band but I told her I wanted some flowers! After mom gave me a face with warm colors, I am waiting here patiently and excited to see what my hair will look like! My dress is made of two pieces, one small blouse and one large skirt, all in flowers like I wanted! We went to the garden to pick up some cotton flowers for me! Visual recap! And here I am, all ready to go visit your home! Mom gave me a bag to bring some books and a journal for my travels and added lots of flowers to my head and hand which I love! I have cute little shorts and boots for my delicate feet, they can be removed but I prefer to have them on. I´m ready for my travel to stay with you! You can pick me up at the train station or I can come to your home by myself, you just gotta let me know were it is in the shop I hope to see you soon and thank you for visiting, come back soon!

A4 - 8.25 X 11.7" A3 - 11.7 x 16.5 Our rice paper is designed and created to inspire creativity. Printed in Italy on the best available rice paper using eco friendly inks and manufactured with attention to every detail by experts in the decoupage printing industry. Our process results in consistency in colors and quality across all sizes. For Best Results: Paint the surface with a light or white colored background so the image will show against the transparency of the paper. Apply a layer of decoupage medium to the surface, then place the paper. If you are covering a large area, it is best to do it a section at a time. Once the paper is positioned correctly, apply another layer of glue over the top. Let top layer fully dry before applying a second coat of decoupage medium or varnish. Do not touch your rice paper when it is wet. Use a soft brush with flat / wide bristles (golden taklon works well).

A while ago we bought a beat up old dresser for $10 and as it sat in my studio I began to envision it becoming some sort of wardrobe to Narnia. After daydreaming for a while I was told reminded that perhaps it was more important for our boy to have somewhere to put his clothes. I agreed... reluctantly. So the boy chose a shade of blue and I set to work. Mid-way through painting I realized that the dresser was not a portal to Narnia... ... but a TARDIS in waiting! So over the next short while this messy thing will (hopefully) become a very cool bedroom time machine. Something I have completed are this set of art blocks. They really are the most fun things to make and you should definitely give them a try! These blocks are all embellished with Typography and Good Ol' Sport from Graphic 45. . Lastly, a reminder that I'll be hosting a kids' workshop for making mixed media art blocks this Friday at the Brighton Public Library. If you're near, stop by and let your budding artist get their mess on! ETA: The art block size is... 2.5" x 3.5" x 1.5" Just cut segments that are 2.5" wide from a 2x4 and they'll be the perfect size. I have no idea why 2x4's aren't 2x4.

The first day of December is here . . . my kids are jumping for joy that they get to start the Advent calendar! I made this two years ago for a class at Green Tangerines using all Making Memories product. This paper has been my favorite "Christmas number" paper ever! I used a cookie sheet (12x18") and spray painted it red. *Note: if you are going to spray paint a cookie sheet, don't buy the non-stick kind! As you can see, there are several paint chips missing on the edges from being stored. Paint doesn't stick well to non-stick surfaces. What I did for the number cards: I adhered them to thin cardboard (the cardboard that comes from Costco when you get a photo enlarged--I have a ton of it!) with Modge Podge. Let dry. On the opposite side (see below) I adhered green and red Bazzill cardstock with Modge Podge. Let dry. Then I sanded all the edges--this helps to adhere all three layers together really well so that little fingers can't pry them apart. Another thing you might notice is that Seth is not included in the pictures on this calendar! Well, he wasn't around then. I don't think he'll notice this year, but by next year he will. So, I'll either be changing out the pictures or coming up with an entirely different Advent calendar . . . we'll see how I feel about that idea next year! This year I didn't have the mental energy for it. And the backside. I adhered magnets to each piece and I tried to write down things that were easy to do on the spur of the moment. A few involve a little planning ahead. Just double click on the image if you want to read them. What ideas or notes do you tuck away in your Advent calendar? I'd love to hear them, or leave me a link to your blog if you have them posted! I may be making a new one next year and could use some new ideas! p.s. In response to my freezer cooking post . . . as I eat them out of my freezer, I'll take pictures and post the recipes. Yum!
