My Mum gave me these letters after my Grandma passed. They are mostly dated 1934, and they were written to her lover, describing the birth of my father, his son. 'He is a miracle! So fat! So blonde! but rather pugnacious looking...should we call him Anthony or Jeremy?' (they called him Jeremy) The fat, blond baby is now 76. The letters themselves are full of the substance and enchantment of pen-and-ink and are a lovely thing to have. Its strange to imagine my dad as fat, pugnacious baby. Will Emails hold the same charm in 80 years time? I doubt we will even be able to read them...what a loss that would be.
