Two Italians Had An Idea The story has it that in 1926, two Italians had the idea to hold a motor sport event in and around their hometown of Brescia, Italy. They decided to organize an endurance race of about 1500 km (1000 Roman miles) trough Italy. The strangulated oval course was to be held …
This stunning art deco style poster, designed and printed by Bill Philpot, celebrates the fourth Mille Miglia event of 1930 won by the great Tazio Nuvolari driving an Alfa Romeo 1750. The race was run over a figure of eight course covering a thousand miles from Brescia via Rome and back again to finish in Brescia. In the 1930 race Nuvolari cheekily surprised his great rival Achille Varzi by overtaking at night with his headlamps switched off. The large version of this beautiful poster measures 85cm x 61cm (33½" x 24") and size two measures 70cm x 50cm (27½" x 19¾"). These are digitally printed on the highest quality heavyweight (230 gsm) Brilliant Matte Supreme archival paper, each one being printed to order here in my studio. Each poster will be signed and dated by the artist, Bill Philpot. Your poster is sold unframed and packed in a heavyweight cardboard postal tube and dispatched by Royal Mail service.

In the film, Gassman is initiating Trintignant in the luxurious and adrenaline-infused lifestyle of a playboy. It’s a satirical kind of comedy, but one that also pays some homage to its subject matter instead of just poking fun at low-hanging fruit. The story ends with one attempted overtake too many,
