Tels (prehistoric settlement mounds), are characteristic of the flatter lands of the eastern Mediterranean, particularly Lebanon, Syria, Israel and eastern Turkey. Of more than 200 tels in Israel, Megiddo, Hazor and Beer Sheba are representative of those that contain substantial remains of cities with biblical connections. The three tels also present some of the best examples in the Levant of elaborate Iron Age, underground water-collecting systems, created to serve dense urban communities. Their traces of construction over the millennia reflect the existence of centralized authority, prosperous agricultural activity and the control of important trade routes. https://dorpenstedennederland.blogspot.com/ https://fieggentrio.blogspot.com/

Hard to believe this impressive, stylized lion symbol is over 2,800 years old! The Lion of Megiddo first appeared on an ancient seal, dating from the 8th cent. BCE, discovered in archeological excavations at Tel Megiddo, in the Jordan Valley, in 1904. The lion is the symbol of the Tribe of Judah and of the eternal capital of Israel, Jerusalem. The 1/2-shekel coins are vintage, currency. It was minted between 1978 and 1980, and became obsolete in 1984. The coins are in gently circulated condition with few beauty marks. They are made of a nickel alloy, silver-tone in color and the size of a US penny. The faceted Swarovski crystals are jet-black in color and suspended in either gold-plated or rhodium frames. You may choose from the pull-down menu located next to the item cost. (If you prefer a different color for the crystals, please send me a note.) The earwires are made of surgical steel, soft-gray in color and hypoallergenic. The earrings measure 1-3/4 inches from the top curve of the earwires to the bottom edges of the coins. The photos are ENLARGED to show details. Please carefully review the entire description for actual size information. -->> Feel free to ask any questions - even the "silly" ones.
