I needed a masculine birthday card so I decided to use the Freshly Made Sketches #450 as inspiration for my card. I don’t know about you but I have the hardest time with masculine cards. As soon as I saw this sketch I knew exactly what stamp set I would use for it. I actually made two cards because I couldn’t decide whether to use a white card base or very vanilla. I ended up entering the Very Vanilla card in the challenge. I used a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of heavy Very Vanilla paper and scored it and folded it in the middle. I Very Vanilla card stock. I then heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I colored the images using Light and Dark Cinnamon Cider Stampin Blends. I then used my wink of Stella over the images to give them some shine. It’s hard to tell from the picture. I then fussy cut the images out. I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in the center bottom of my card stock using Cinnamon Cider Ink. I cut a piece of World of Good DSP to 3 1/2 x 3/12 and layered on a piece of Brass Foil cut to 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 . I then glued this to the very vanilla card stock centered at the top. I then add a piece of Metallic Ribbon tied in a knot centered between the Brass Foil and the sentiment. I glued the two glasses to the DSP and popped up the decanter using dimensionals. To finish off the front I added 3 Gilded Gems. For the inside I cut a piece of Whisper White to 4 x 5 1/4. I stamped the sentiment in Cinnamon Cider, added a couple of strips of the DSP and stamped the orange twist in Pumpkin Pie ink in the bottom right corner. I always try to coordinate my envelope to the card so I glued a piece of the DSP to the flap of a Very Vanilla envelope and again stamped the orange twist with Pumpkin Pie ink in the lower left corner. Here is the version with Whisper White and I used a different ribbon and made the Brass Foil piece a little larger. Which one do you think looks better? I loved to get your opinions. All the products used on today’s card can be purchased from my Stampin Up store. Just select the Shop Stampin’ Up Now button on the top menu bar. I would love to have you as a customer.

I pulled out one of the new sale-a-bration stamps sets coming January 2020 for today’s card. Isn’t this the cutest set you have ever seen. You can earn it for free starting January 3rd by placing a $50 order. I needed to make a Christmas card for Eric and his breakfast pals to give to their favorite waitress. I stamped the group of meerkats and then created a mask of them so I could add a few more of the individual meerkats to the back of the group. I then stamped the little Santa hat from the Merry Moose stamp set on 3 of the meerkats. I colored the meerkats with light and dark crumb cake Stampin blends and the hats with a light cherry cobbler Stampin blend and then used a little of the snowfall accents puff paint on the brim and the pompom on each hat and then heat set it. I stamped a tree from the Merry Moose set in shaded spruce, added a few holiday rhinestones and some of the gold/white tinsel trim and a gold star from the Most Wonderful Time product medley and then added a few snowflake sequins. I used the largest stitched nested labels to cut out the scene. My card base was made from thick whisper white card stock cut to 5 1/2 and then scored at 4 1/4. I cut a piece of shaded spruce paper at 4 1/8” by 5 3/8 and then centered a piece of let it snow specialty designer series paper cut to 4” by 5 1/4”on top. I popped up my die cut using dimensionals. I then stamped the saying from the Bells are Ringing Stamp set using versamark ink. I then added some white embossing powder and heated it with my heat tool. I punched it out with a label die from the Most Wonderful Time die set. I added a little more gold tinsel trim to each end and then added a few dimensional and centered below the meerkats scene. I finished off the inside with a couple of strips of the let it snow paper to match the front. I stamped merry Christmas from the snowman season stamp set and from all of us from The Gang’s All Meer set.

Another hot and smoky day here in Nevada. Supposedly tomorrow is going to be in the low 70’s and the wind should blow all the smoke back to California. I am so looking forward to cooler weather! I’m working on my Halloween cards and for today’s card I decided to base it off of the MojoMonday sketch 545. I started with a Pumpkin Pie card base and added a piece of Whisper White cut to 4 x 5 1/4. I ran this through my Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine with the Cobwebs 3D embossing folder. I cut a piece of Plaid Tidings DSP to 2 1/4 by 5 1/4 and glued this over the embossed Whisper White piece. I stamped Spooky from the Festive Corners stamp set on a strip of Pumpkin Pie cut to 3/4 by 4. I trimmed the end with the Banners Pick a Punch. I cut a piece of Bumblebee using my 2 1/2 in punch and stamped the owl from the Have a Hoot stamp set. I also stamped the image on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla. I colored the images using light and dark Crumb Cake, Mango Melody, Basic Black and Cinnamon Cider stampin’ blends. I then die cut the Very Vanilla images with the Peek-A-Hoot dies. I popped this up with dimensionals on the image stamped on the Bumblebee circle. I cut the spiderweb out of basic black with the same dies. I glued the Bumblebee circle down about 2/3 on the DSP and 1 inch down. I used a glue dot to place the spiderweb down. I then used dimensionals to place the spooky banner even with the top and just under the owls wing. I added a few of the 2020-2021 in color enamel dots to finish off the front. For the inside of my card I cut a piece of Whisper White to 4 x 5 1/4 added a couple strips of the DSP cut to 1/2 inch. I stamped the Boo from the Have a Hoot stamp set on Pumpkin Pie and trimmed it down and popped it up with dimensionals. I added a small spider that I had left over from another card. It was stamped from the Hallows Night Magic set. I used the same DSP on a Whisper White envelope flap and stamped the spider on the front lower left corner and my card and envelope were done. All the products used are available from my Stampin’ Up shop. Just click the Shop Stampin’ Up Now button on the top menu. I would love to have you as a customer.

We had a few cool, non-smoky days but today the smoke is back and we are back to the 90’s! I’m anxious to get rid of this smoke and heat. All we can wish for is rain! That will help the fires and hopefully clean some of this smoke out permanently. It’s so tragic that between California, Oregon and Washington over 5 million acres have burnt this summer. On a happier note today’s card is another Halloween card made with the Have A Hoot stamp set that I am going to enter in the Case this Sketch #389 challenge. Card Stock Pumpkin Pie A2 card base, 2 in circle, 3/4 x 3 banner Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4 embossed with Cobwebs 3D embossing folder, 4 x 5 1/4 inside, scrap Plaid Tidings DSP 4 x 3, 4 x 1/2 (2), 2 1/4 x 6 Black Glitter Paper 1 1/2 x 4, 6 x 1/2, scrap for owls Stamp Sets Have a Hoot Hallows Night Magic Dies Peek-a-Hoot Punch’s 2 inch circle Bats (retired) Banners Pick a Punch Stampin’ Blends Cinnamon Cider light and dark Rich Razzleberry light and dark Mango Melody light and dark I glued the embossed whisper white piece on the card stock then layered the Plaid Tidings DSP and then the black glitter paper. I stamped the owl on a piece of whisper white scrap and also on the Pumpkin Pie Circle. I only colored the branches on the Circle and then colored the owl and moon and die cut them out. I used dimensionals to pop these up over the image on the circle. I then added dimensionals to the back and added this over the glitter black piece. I stamped the sentiment on the banner with versamark ink and heat embossed with shimmery black embossing paste. I then added dimensionals to this and placed it even with the top and over from the left 1/2 in. I punched the bats from the black glitter paper and added to the banner and circle. For the inside I stamped the sentiment and spider on the Whisper White paper then added the strips at the top and bottom and the bat in the lower left corner. I finished off the envelope flap with the strip of black glitter and the Plaid Tidings DSP. I glued a leftover bat to the lower left corner. Here is the sketch I based this card off of: Hope you have a great weekend! I‘m lucky, I get to watch my 4 month old granddaughter tomorrow. Nothing like being a grandparent!
It’s very hot this holiday weekend. Our thermometer is reading 105! I’m hoping by making a holiday card it will make me feel cooler. When I...

I made today’s card for The Paper Players Challenge 505. It was such a great sketch to use for a masculine birthday card that I am needing for a family member’s birthday in a couple of weeks. I hope you enjoy this card as much as I did making it! I started with a Soft Sea Foam card base cut at 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 and scored at 4 /4. I then cut the first diagonal shape from Pretty Peacock card stock and then embossed it with the hammered metal embossing folder. Next I choose 2 coordinating papers from the Forever Greenery DSP. I then glued these pieces to complete the front shape. I then stamped the sentiment with from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set in Pretty Peacock Ink. I cut the sentiment out using a stitched rectangle framelits die. I popped this up using dimensionals and placed on the card about 1 1/2 inches from the bottom. I added a couple of leaves from the Forever Gold Specialty DSP and finished off the front with 3 of the gold gilded gems. For the inside I cut a piece of whisper white card stock to 4 x 5 1/4 and then add 2 strips of the DSP used on the front cut to 1/2 inch by 4 and glued on the top and bottom. I added a couple more of the gold leaves to match the front in the lower right corner. I stamped the sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays again using Pretty Peacock ink. I then glued this into the inside and my card was done. This was one of the fastest cards I have made!

It’s a cold and snowy day here in Nevada. A good day to stay in and craft. Today’s card was inspired from a You Tube live video by Lost in Paper I watched this afternoon. Therese lives in Australia and was making a masculine card based on an old sketch by Case this sketch! I started with a Heavy Basic White card base cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored and folded in half. I then cut a piece of Night of Navy to 5 3/8 x 4 1/8. I cut a piece of Basic White to 5 1/4 x 4 and used the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder #152702 to give the piece some texture. I then cut two 1 inch strips of Well Suited DSP #154562. I cut one for the card front down to 4 inches and then I punched the flags out with the Banner Triple punch #138292. I cut three flags and then trimmed them down to 2 inches. I popped up the paisley side of the strip with dimensionals and then glued two flags navy side to the top of the strip and then placed the middle flag underneath the strip. I added a dimensional under the two top flags to keep them the same height as the paisley strip. I added 3 of the very popular new matte black dots #154284 to finish it off. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink from the Handsomely Suited stamp set on a scrap of Night of Navy and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I used the Classic Label punch #141491 to punch it out. I added some mini dimensionals to pop it centered between the edge and the strip. For the inside I duplicated the front with a piece of Basic White 4 x 5 1/4 glued to a piece of Night of Navy cut to 5 3/8 x 4 1/8. I stamped the sentiment from the Handsomely Suited stamp set in Night of Navy. I added a 1/2 strip of the paisley print DSP up about 1/2 inch from the bottom. I then added a piece of the navy print cut to 6 by 2 1/4 to the envelope flap and trimmed it down. Here’s the sketch the card was based off of. CTS#25 retro or new CTS#405. I’m sure you will agree with me that it is always a challenge to make masculine cards! I feel like this sketch lent itself well to a masculine card. We are expecting more snow tonight and tomorrow so I might just have another card for you tomorrow. If so it will probably be a Valentine’s card. I’m running out of time to get them made in time to mail.

Just got back from a few days away. This was the first time away since the beginning of March when the pandemic started. It sure was nice. We took a beautiful ride down the eastern sierra to see all the fall colors. The trees were beautiful, the weather was nice and not too many people around. I saw the sketch for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches #457 challenge and knew exactly what stamp set and paper products I wanted to use. I choose to use the Boho Indigo product medley from Stampin’ Up! #153132 for my card. I love the papers in this set and the vase dies are beautiful. I started with a card base of night of navy cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored in the middle. I then used two of the papers included in the set. I cut the blue floral piece to 3 1/2 x 4 and the pre-embossed very vanilla sheet to 2 1/2 x 4 3/4. I cut out a small vase from Balmy Blue and a flower sprig from Mint Macaron using the dies included in the medley. I put a small linen thread bow on the vase and 3 of the little flowers that were also included in the medley. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink on a 1 x 3/12 strip of night of navy and heat embossed it with white embossing power.I popped the sentiment strip and the vase up with dimensionals. For the inside I used a 4 x 5 1/4 sheet of very vanilla and added a 1/2 inch strip of the floral paper to the top and bottom and then added one of the matching flowers from the front the lower right corner. I added the same paper to the flap of a very vanilla envelope. I’m very happy with the way this card turned out. If you would like to purchase this medley you can purchase it from my online shopping page by selecting the Shop Stampin’ Up Now tab on the top menu bar. The product code for the entire medley is #153132. I would love to have you as a customer.

I can't believe it's been over two weeks since I posted. The weather got cooler, the smoke dissipated and I have been enjoying being outside! I have also been working on swaps for the upcoming Stampin' Up! virtual meeting and my team leads Stampin Spectacular 2020. We had to use all new products from either the holiday mini catalog or the annual catalog so I decided to make some holiday cards. I used a card I had made for the case-this-sketch-388 challenge and changed it up a bit. I had to make 31 cards for the swap. This is the first swap I am participating in and I have to say I didn't realize how time consuming this would be! But I finally finished them and got them in the mail yesterday. Here is the original card and then updated card I used for the swap. I'm happy with the way the swap cards turned out. Original New Swap Card Basically, I changed the middle tree to foil and popped it up in front of the outside trees instead of beneath. I made a bow from linen thread instead of the ribbon and moved the tag to center bottom. Which one do you prefer? I would love to hear your comments. I kept the inside and envelope the same with the exception of the sentiment stamped inside. Here's all the swap cards ready to go. Thanks for stopping by. If you would like to make these cards for yourself all of the products are available on my shopping page. I would love to have you as a customer.
I’m entering my card today in the Freshly Made Sketches #459. I procrastinated in getting this in and I’m just under the wire. I used the Dragonfly Garden stamp set with the Dandy Garden DSP and the Dragonflies punch. The card stock is Blackberry Bliss.

Hi friends. It’s another cold and dreary day here in Nevada. We had about 1 inch of snow last night with more predicted for today. I guess it will be another stay in craft day. Oh darn! Haha. I had the Well Suited DSP on my desk from yesterday and decided I would make another couple of masculine cards to add to my stash. These were so easy to make. My first card I went with a grey and black scheme and the 2nd card I went with a blue color scheme. I tried to use up my scraps as much as possible. I started each card with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Heavy Basic White card base. I then cut two piece of Basic White to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I ran one sheet through my Cut and Emboss machine using the Tasteful Textile 3D folder #152718 and the other using Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder #152702. I then cut two pieces of the Well Suited DSP to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and then cut each on a diagonal about 1/3 down. I then cut two strips of scraps at 6 in x 5/8. I choose Basic Black and Seaside Spray. I then punched the largest oval from the Double Oval Punch #154242 in Smoky Slate and Night of Navy. I then stamped the sentiment from the Handsomely Suited Stamp #154444 in Black and then Night of Navy on a scrap of Basic White. I punched these out with the smallest oval. It’s always easier to stamp then punch or die cut! Since I had all the pieces ready it was just a couple of minutes to put them together. I added the embossed sheet to the card stock, then layered the colored DSP. I then laid the 5/8 in solid color strips along the diagonal and then trimmed the edges to match the card base. I then glued the sentiment to the larger oval. I popped this up with dimensionals over the solid strip. I added three of the matte black dots #154284 on the grey black card and dug in my stash for some retired blue holiday rhinestones to go with the blue theme card. I added some matching paper to the envelope flap and another strip to the bottom of a piece of Basic White cut to 4 x 5 1/4 for the inside. So easy to make! I think this design could be used for i birthdays, masculine cards, holiday cards and more. You could always add a die cut in place of the ovals and stamp your sentiment on the diagonal strip. Endless possibilities. Hope you enjoyed these cards today. I’ll probably be back tomorrow with my Valentine cards. I know I’m running out of time if I’m going to mail them. I’m thinking I might use this same layout with some valentine paper and a couple of hearts with Happy Valentine’s Day stamped on the diagonal.
In between making wooden snowmen I took a few minutes make a quick card to enter in this weeks Freshly Made Sketches #462 challenge. It’s been cold and very windy here the last couple of days so I picked some bright colors for my card hoping to brighten it up around here. I punched the circles from the Dandy Garden DSP. I popped up the 2 x 2 center square then punched one of the dragonflies out to place on top. I used Whisper White for the card base and a piece of 4x 5 1/4 Dandy Garden DSP and then a 3 3/4 x 5 piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the Meadow Moments Embossing Folder. I stamped the sentiment from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set using Calypso Coral ink and then added a few Elegant Faceted Gems to finish it off. For the inside I used a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of the same paper from the Dandy Garden DSP then added a piece of 3 3/4 x 5 Whisper White. I opted to leave off a sentiment but added a little dragonfly which I also punched out of the Dandy Garden DSP using the new dragonfly punch. I added a piece of the Dandy Garden DSP to the envelope flap and then stamped a dragonfly in the front lower left corner.
Very hot day here in Nevada and a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon so I decided it was a good day to be crafty. Today’s card is a fall card that I planned to enter in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #448. The challenge closed at 3 ET so I was too late to enter. Lesson learned: Don’t procrastinate! I started with a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of heavy very vanilla cardstock. I scored it and then folded it in half. I then took a 4 X 5 1/4 piece of Gilded Autumn Speciality DSP and cut it at a diagonal in the middle. I trimmed each end so the opening in the middle would be 7/8 inch which was the size of the leaves from the Autumn Punch Pack Punch. I punched several leaves out of mint macaron, cajun craze, and early espresso to coordinate with the DSP. I punched one leaf for the middle out of gold foil paper. I used dimensionals to pop up the DSP and then glued the leaves to the cardstock in the middle opening. I thought the card needed a little something so I cut two 1/8 inch strips of the gold foil and glued to each side of the opening. I stamped the greeting using a stamp from the Autumn Greetings stamp set on very vanilla. I cut the strip to 3/4 inch and then trimmed each end with the new Banners pick a punch. I thought it was a little plain so I cut a 1 inch piece of Cajun Craze card stock and trimmed it with the punch to add a nice background. I then popped this up with dimensionals as well. I added some of the gold gilded gems to finish off the front of the card. For the inside I cut a small piece of DSP and glued to the bottom along with another gold foil leaf. I stamped the sentiment from the Autumn Greetings Stamp set. I added a piece of DSP to the flap of a very vanilla envelope and glued another gold foil leaf to the front of the envelope. I sure hope fall comes soon. It’s been a pretty hot summer. I love the thunderstorms but unfortunately they have started several large fires around the area.

I’m Christmas carded out. I decided to pull out an older stamp and die for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches challenge. https://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/2020/12/freshly-made-sketches-465-sketch-by.html I choose the Pampered pets stamp and pets die. The paper was the Playful Pets DSP and I used a couple of playful pets trinkets. I love that Stampin’ Up! Products coordinate together so well. It takes the guesswork out of making cards Here is the sketch the card was based off of. .
