The moment Peter walks on water towards Jesus is a powerful narrative found in the New Testament, illustrating faith, doubt, and the divine nature of Jesus. This event is detailed in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 14, verses 22-33. ### The Setting After feeding the 5,000, Jesus insists that His disciples get into a boat and go ahead of Him to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, while He dismisses the crowd. Afterward, Jesus goes up on a mountainside by Himself to pray. ### Jesus Walks on Water - **Matthew 14:25-26**: "Shortly before dawn, Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw Him walking on the lake, they were terrified. 'It’s a ghost,' they said, and cried out in fear." Jesus approaches the disciples' boat, walking on the water amidst the wind and waves, causing them to be terrified, mistaking Him for a ghost. ### Peter's Request and Attempt - **Matthew 14:27-29**: "But Jesus immediately said to them: 'Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.' 'Lord, if it’s you,' Peter replied, 'tell me to come to you on the water.' 'Come,' He said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus." Jesus reassures them, and Peter, spurred by a mixture of faith and incredulity, asks if he could join Jesus on the water. Jesus invites him, and Peter begins to walk on water towards Jesus. ### Doubt and Rescue - **Matthew 14:30-31**: "But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, 'Lord, save me!' Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. 'You of little faith,' He said, 'why did you doubt?'" Peter's faith allows him to walk on water initially, but as he notices the strong wind, he becomes afraid and starts to sink. Jesus immediately reaches out, saves him, and gently rebukes him for his doubt. ### The Disciples' Reaction - **Matthew 14:32-33**: "And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, 'Truly you are the Son of God.'" After Jesus and Peter get back into the boat, the storm calms. This miraculous event, coupled with Jesus walking on water and saving Peter, leads the disciples to a deeper recognition of Jesus' divine authority and identity. ### Themes and Significance This narrative highlights the power of faith and the readiness of Jesus to save those who call out to Him. It also illustrates human frailty and doubt, even in the presence of the divine. New addition to our series created on repurposed sections of Sailboat canvas. This artwork measures 16 x 14 inches. This one, called "Come", is based on the Bible Verse Matthew 14:29. (So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.) I have done many artworks on this verse. One of my favorites chapters about Faith. As you can see it is rustic. It is unraveled on the edges and wrinkled... like a section of sail found on the beach. I feel it would look great hung on a wall with tacks, or matching colored push pins. Some of my clients have attached them to small wooden rods and hung them with string and rope. Looked great! I think it looks awesome with the slight wrinkles and imperfections. ALL ORDERS will be shipped by USPS. We have Free shipping to the USA, but We also ship Worldwide. In Matthew chapter 5 verse 14 takes place during the sermon on the mount. Jesus states "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden." In Verse 15 he goes on to say "Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house." I believe this is Jesus telling us to let our light for Him shine brightly so everyone we come in contact with can see Him in us. So that in the dark world we live in, we may shine a light on the path that leads to Jesus so others can find Him. Even if you are not religious just stick with me; this will not be a blog on what you believe. One of my favorite stories in the Bible is found in the Book of Matthew in chapter 14. The story is commonly referred to as “Jesus walks on water.” The story has the disciples out in a boat and Jesus, who was not with them in the boat originally, walks out across a stormy sea towards them. They all freak out and Jesus starts talking to them to calm them down. Peter, the more rash of Jesus followers say

Jesus said, Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 19:14). They Shall be Called My Children is a beautiful collection of spiritual lessons and reflections for children, inspired by the Holy Spirit and delivered through the wonderful words of Fr. Emmanuel Okami. Every child should be actively encouraged with their spiritual development from an early age, to enable them to draw closer to God and the kingdom of heaven. Fr. Emmanuel has a natural affinity with youth ministry and recognised the need for structured spiritual support for parents of children who have outgrown the Children's Liturgy. This series of reflections enables the continual development of a child's relationship with the Lord and aids their ongoing education in the Word of God. Fr. Emmanuel has gifted parents a book that works through key spiritual and moral lessons for children, delivered in a style that is personal to the child, easily understandable and gently encouraging. This book will accompany a child through life lessons at home and at school, covering topics from self-esteem to happiness, bullying to bereavement and learning to pray in a way that is meaningful to them. As a child is told in the reflection 'you are special', they are unique and dear to God and God loves them the way they are. This book will help them understand what being a child of God means and give them a robust platform to start off their journey with the Lord.
