Many of you have asked how to add a collar on to my baby jacket patterns. The very talented Chris Hunter (a member of my facebook group) has done this many times, and has been kind enough to share her 'how to' instructions. Here are her beautifully knitted Babbity Baby Jackets with a collar added. So sweet. Babbity Baby Jacket with a Collar Knitted by Chris Hunter Babbity Baby Jacket with a Collar Knitted by Chris Hunter For top-down cardigans ~ including Babbity With wrong side facing, pick up and knit a stitch for each cast on stitch at the neck edge except for the first 3sts and the last 3sts Next Row: K4, purl to last 4sts, k4 Next Row: Knit Next Row: K4, purl to last 4sts, k4 Repeat the last 2 rows 3 times more for large preemie size, 4 times more for newborn size, 5 times more for 3months size …….. (You can easily adjust here by working fewer rows for smaller sizes / or adding more rows for bigger sizes) Knit 4 rows Cast off loosely (you might like to use a stretchy cast off, or a larger needle) For bottom-up cardigans ~ Instead of casting off all the stitches at the neck edge – Cast off the first 3sts only, knit to end. Next Row: Cast off 3sts, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4 Next Row: Knit Next Row: K4, purl to last 4sts, k4 Repeat the last 2 rows 3 times more for large preemie size, 4 times more for newborn size, 5 times more for 3months size …….. Melika Melika Baby Vest Top There are so many very pretty self-patterning yarns available now. It means that you can make lovely garments without having to use lacy or complicated stitches. I love to use stitches that I haven't done before - but sometimes there is satisfaction in doing simple plain stocking stitch. It's important to choose a nice design shape that you like ~ that way you will be happy with the results. This cute little baby vest top is knitted all in one piece and there are no seams - perfect for those who hate sewing up! Please meet LEVI - the Super Easy Lovie ! LEVI - The Super Easy Lovie LEVI - the SUPER EASY LOVIE I hardly ever make toys as I am rubbish at the faces! This is my first attempt at a lovie. I am sure you can do far better - but here at least you have somewhere to start. LEVI the Lovie Requires ~ DK yarn – I used a cotton mix yarn so that this Lovie would wash easily! A little polyester stuffing 4mm needles for the main part 3.5mm needles for the head – toys are generally knitted on a size smaller than usual needle to make a more dense fabric which prevents the stuffing showing through. Cast on 2sts Row 1: Kfb, k1 Row 2: K1, kfb, knit to end Repeat Row 2 until you are happy with the size (6" is very popular, I made mine 9") Next Row: K2, k2tog, knit to end Repeat the last row until you have 10sts left on your needle Make the head ~ Knit 1 row Purl 1 row S1, kfb, knit to last 3sts, kfb, k2 Purl 1 row Repeat the last 2 rows 6 times more (24sts) Work 14 rows in stocking stitch (knit one row, purl one row) S1, s1, k1, psso, knit to last 3sts, k2tog, k1 Purl 1 row Repeat the last 2 rows 6 times more (10sts) Cast off Join the sides of the head Add features to the face Make the Ears ~ Using a length of the yarn used for the head, create ears by sewing a line across the top of the head at each side. Stuff the head with polyester toy filling Sew the gap at the neck closed securely You will find my Teeny Tiny Levi Keepsake on this link ~ https://mariannaslazydaisydays.blogspot.com/2020/02/teeny-tiny-levi-keepsake.html I am happy for you to use my patterns for your own use or for charity donations.
