Very fine 19th century French gilt-bronze figural mantel clock by Raingo Freres, Retailed by Jacobs & Lucas. The movement stamped: Raingo Freres Paris. The dial inscribed: Jacobas & Lucas A Paris. Raingo Freres began business in the early 1800’s, manufacturing all types of decorative clocks. They expanded into decorative art bronzes and furnishings in addition to patents on their orreries, which were mechanical devices illustrating the relative positions and motions of the planets and moons in the solar system in a heliocentric model. Their clients included such notables as the Duc de Chartres and the Emperor and Empress. La Maison Raingo Freres participated in the Universal Exhibitions of 1867, 1878, and 1889 receiving medals in all including a Gold Medal in 1889.
Napoleon III ormolu and coated bronze three-piece clock garniture. "Amphitrite with Triton". Maison Raingo Frères, Paris, France, circa 1870. Signed in the machinery. Garniture consisting of two candelabra of five lightsmade with stems and with feminine figures, and a watch of golden sphere with numeration in Romans on white background. This one shows a feminine figure in the inferior part, accompanied by a child whose lower extremities take the form of fish tails, detail that is also present in the two men who appear behind and are blowing shells. The subject has been drawn from classical mythology: Amphitrite, represented with a trident and sitting on a shell, was the wife of Poseidon, with whom he had a son, Triton, messenger of the deep sea and characterized by his human torso and fishtail lower half. The two male characters would be members of the sea cortege that used to accompany these gods, and the two ladies in the candelabra would be Nereids, marine nymphs, with their cloths wet on the skin. The house Raingo Frères was established in Paris in 1813, and was specialized in the sale of precision watches during the French Empire and the Restoration. Some models of astronomical watches are known, and they owned several patents. In 1830 they settled on Rue de Touraine number 8 in Paris, and in 1841 the four Raingo brothers, originally known as manufacturers of machinery, added bronzes and other decorations to their catalog. In 1860 they made bronzes for the Emperor Napoleón III and the Empress Eugenia de Montijo. Although at first they specialized in classical art, they were already paying attention to contemporary artists such as Pradier, Carrier-Belleuse and Auguste Moreau, using their works in chandeliers and clocks. In addition, they collaborated with prestigious cabinetmakers such as François Linke. La Maison Raingo participated in the Universal Exhibitions of 1867, 1878 and 1889, awarded in all of them with medals and winning the Gold in 1889. So required were his works that, in some cases, sets were created using the same molds, varying in small details : A garrison is known with the candlesticks decorated with Neptune and Amphitrite and the clock like the one of this game, only that without pavonar and everything in bronze gilded, conserved in an important private collection. It is known as Napoleon III style to a French current that flourished during the Second French Empire (1852-1870) in the years of the reign of this monarch, characterized by the inspiration in the Renaissance for works. Architecturally, it is associated with one of the best known projects of this date, the renovation of Paris by Baron Haussmann." Size: 54 x 24 x 79, candelabra 35 x 23 x 78 cms.

A substantial 'Black Forest' mantle clock in the manner of Ed Binder of Brienz. Constructed in carved lindenwood, having a trapezoidal form naturalistically carved base; over, a deer and a fawn, standing on a rocky outcrop, are viewed by an eagle, with outstretched wings; the clock having an eight day movement, striking on a bell. Brienz, Bernese Oberland, Switzerland Brienz, in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland was remarked upon in Baedeker's Travel Guide, as having a population of 2400, of whom 600 persons were employed as woodcarvers, to supply the tourist trade to Switzerland with mementos of the tour. A museum devoted entirely to the art of wood carving may be visited today. I am selling this FULL FUNCTIONING, Antique JUNGHANS Mantel ALARM Clock, made in Germany, in an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Castle Shape, in a GREAT, RESTORED Cosmetic and SERVICED Functioning Condition, offered with a ONE YEAR GUARANTEE! Please take a look at and listen to this beauty by copying and pasting the following YouTube Link in your browser or by clicking on it: -> https://youtu.be/SdYZzNd_9Rw I made an extra photoshoot, which can be seen by copying and pasting the following YouTube Link in your browser, or by clicking on it: -> https://youtu.be/bRBxYEfC0QY I completely took this clock apart, cleaned and polished every single part of it, and SERVICED the movement. For the work involved, please see photo 9. Please take a look at the condition of the movement, which looks LIKE NEW! Just take a look at the condition of the wood.... the cosmetic condition of this beauty is GREAT considering the age (over 110 years old)! This clock is RARE, because of its MUSICAL ALARM, its castle shaped body, the fact that it is a MINI / BABY Clock and its GORGEOUS Cosmetic and FULL FUNCTIONING mechanical condition! The FULLY SERVICED movement looks FANTASTIC! This piece has lots of YELLOW COPPER and TIN decorations in front, in an absolute amazing condition; fully intact. The BRONZE "feet" are so beautiful... It comes with a HIGH GLOSS paper dial, conserved with candle wax (original process) in a SUPER GOOD Condition as well. The dial proudly carries the JUNGHANS name and star! It shows the time in style, in black, Arabic numbers, pointed out by nicely shaped, metal hands. There is a copper inner and outer edge, surrounding the dial and crystal. This Alarm clock has a SWEET MUSICAL ALARM, played on a roll, telling you when it is time to wake up! Unlike other musical alarm clock, the sound is MODEST, it wont scare you awake. I have no idea what melody is played, but it works GREAT and all teeth of the musical roll are there; not a single tooth is missing! Having a windable, VERY RELIABLE movement. The movement has been thouroughly cleaned and runs like an engine. The front window is made of thick (real) AUTHENTIC glass, WITHOUT IMPERFECTIONS! Even the closing knob, at the back door has been polished! The ornaments on top of the clock are 100% original. There's a very small chance in EVER finding a piece in this condition. This clock still has its ORIGINAL key, which is placed in a KEYHOLDER, in the backdoor, so you can never loose it! Of course the key is polished as well. Overall this object is in an excellent condition but not new. Used products have signs of use. Mentionable is that the bezel, surrounding the crystal in front, was not perfectly round before the restoring job. I restored it but couldnt get it perfectly round, resulting in the crystal not connecting perfectly around it. In other words, in small areas, ther is a SMALL gap between the bezel and the crystal, at the 7-10 position (photo 7). The wood has SMALL imperfections but nothing serious! The alarm dial on the movement was missing, so I made a dial myself, out of white carton, which works great. Please judge the quality by taking a good look at all the photo's, and YouTube video and photoshoot, mentioned at the top of this listing, because these are Part of the description. This clock runs smoothly and is in a full functioning condition. If you have any questions please feel free to email me. SHIPPING IS FREE WORLDWIDE!! Dimensions: Weight: 1397 grams Height: 12.7 Inch -> 32.2 cm! Width: 7.4 Inch -> 18.8 cm Depth: 4.9 Inch -> 12.5 cm Combined shipping is possible! Crafted during the French Empire period between 1810 and 1815, this ormolu gilded mantel clock depicts a captivating scene from mythology. With dimensions of approximately 44.5 cm (17.5 inches) in height, 33 cm (13 inches) in width, and 12.5 cm (5 inches) in depth, it portrays Cupid being stung by a bee while stealing honey, seeking solace from his mother Venus. However, Venus gently rebukes him, reminding him of the pain his arrows inflict on others. Adorned with intricate details, the clock features a goddess with Cupid, surrounded by symbols of love: two doves on the right and a beehive with bees on the left. Its rectangular base, resting on bird's feet, boasts a frieze depicting a putto, symbolizing the industrious activity and imperial power of the French people during this era of order, freedom, and peace. Conceived by the esteemed artisan Claude Galle, this clock retains its original movement, an 8-day anchor movement with a rope pendulum, and a striking mechanism that chimes on the whole and half hours using a small bell. The enamel dial adds to its elegance and functionality. The clock is complete with bell, pendulum and key. It is completely oiled and checked by a professional clockmaker. Highlighted in the book "Mantel Clocks" by Elke Niehuser on page 211, this clock is not only a functional timepiece but also a work of art that embodies the rich history and craftsmanship of the French Empire period. This clock will be meticulously packed and shipped worldwide, inclusive of tracking and insurance, to ensure its safe arrival at its new home. About Jaeger LeCoultre Jaeger LeCoultre is synonymous with prestige and precision as well as innovation. In 1903, Paris-based watchmaker to the French Navy, Edmond Jaeger, challenged Swiss manufacturers to develop and produce the ultra-thin movements that he had invented. Jacques-David LeCoultre, Antoine's grandson who was responsible for production at LeCoultre & Cie., accepted the challenge, giving rise to a collection of ultra-thin pocket watches, including the thinnest in the world in 1907, equipped with the LeCoultre Calibre 145. The same year, French jeweller Cartier, one of Jaeger's clients, signed a contract with the Parisian watchmaker under which all Jaeger movements for a period of fifteen years would be exclusive to Cartier. The movements were produced by LeCoultre. Edmond Jaeger also acquired the patent for the atmospherically driven clock Atmos from its inventor Jean-Léon Reutter and licensed it to LeCoultre from 1936 for France, and in 1937 for Switzerland. The collaboration between Jaeger and LeCoultre led to the company being officially renamed Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937.
