The Adinkra symbols come from West Africa, specifically a region that is modern-day Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire. The symbols belonged to the Asante (or Ashanti) peoples, who would print them on cloth, as well as pottery and metalwork.

PATTERN NOTES The hat is worked in the round on circular and double pointed needles. In stranded colour-work knitting, used in this design, two colours are worked in a single row in St St stitch pattern. The brim is knit long to wear it folded for extra thickness and for more control over the desired hat height. The pattern is both written and charted. YARN AND YARDAGE (approx.) Mokosh - Good Slavic Goddess. Goddess of fate. Spins the threads of fate into the spindle, fusing the good and bad deeds into your destiny. Feel the presence of the ancient Gods! mirslavbog.ru/makosh
About The Artwork Mokosh was one of the most popular Slavic deities and most often associated with the great Mother Goddess or Mother Earth. She was worshipped as a protector of women, force of fertility, and the ruler of death. She is a wanderer and a spinner. She weaves, spins, and holds the threads of fate. I painted her as a severe and powerful woman. Her face also shows some concern and sorrow, feelings which I feel are sometimes inherent to someone who is a mother. Her gown is decadent and ornamental; it represents both her background as a weaver, as well as her supremacy and distinction.
